Father’s Day Truck

Hello there. I’ve been creating a card for Father’s Day, and even though I struggle with masculine cards, I think this came together quite nicely – if I do say so myself!! πŸ™‚

I took the opportunity to use the Spellbinders ‘Truckin’ Through The Seasons‘ die set I obtained when Justine Hovey was having a de-stash sale earlier this year:

I had to watch a few videos from YouTube on how to put this together, but once you know what every little die from the set is for – it’s quite easy. Well – there are so many little pieces, that gluing them onto the truck itself can be a challenge – but I managed.

Once the truck was put together, I turned to the background. I was initially going to ink blend a background, but decided to play with some Tonic Embellishment Mousse and a stencil. I tried to capture the glimmer on this mousse:

Once that piece had dried, I die cut the shape using the Altenew ‘Pocket Banner‘ die set for some interest, then mounted the truck onto that with some 3D foam pieces.

I don’t have a specific Father’s Day sentiment, but I shall write on the inside.

My Dad has always been into cars – he trained to be a mechanic in the Army, ran a taxi company in the 1990’s, and has even just bought a car from me when I recently changed cars. A very prideful man – is that a word? – and he wouldn’t pay anything less than full price of what I was going to receive from the ‘stealership‘………..hmmmm…….!

I’ll now have to think what kind of card to make him for his 81st birthday on 30th June…….maybe floral, as he likes his gardening too!

I shall be entering the following challenges:

Die Cuttin’ Divasmasculine/Father’s day

Just Us Girls texture paste

Cardz 4 Guyz Father’s Day

Uniko ChallengeATG with twist of masculine

  1. Fabulous masculine card ! I’m sure that your dad loved his card. Great design too with this textured background> Thanks so much for sharing and for playing along at Uniko.
