Smile Of Winter

The Alphabet Challenge has reached the letter ‘W’ and Melanie has chosen the theme of ‘Winter’. Here is my creation:

Something new to me – creating on a grey board panel. Lots of elements applied.

I painted white gesso on the board. After it was dry I used crackle paste and just splodged it down randomly. I used an iridescent spray for some shine after the paste was dry, so it went into the cracks.

I played around with some ephemera and flowers until I arrived at the design I liked – actually adding more flowers once I started.

I used a Tim Holtz hard-board frame and added paper ephemera with holly and fir images, Craft Box UK flowers, sparkly bead thingies – I think they are meant for flower bunches – and some thick wintry leaves. Most of the elements were glued with Distress Collage Medium.

I also found this sentiment which I distressed a little with the same iridescent spray to take away some of the whiteness.

I chose not to add glitter to the flowers – I think they are vivid and bright and I didn’t want to diminish that look.

I hope you can come and join us with your ‘Winter’ creations – I look forward to seeing you in our gallery. xx
