Spread Kindness Around Like Confetti..

Hello once again. The Alphabet Challenge has started a new challenge. This time, with the letter being ‘K’, Billie has chosen the theme – we want to see your creations using the word ‘kindness‘. This word has to be used – but you can create anything, for any reason – as long as the word ‘kindness’ is used.

Here is my card:

I needed the word ‘kindness’ so I searched through the CML app – and found quite a few. This sentiment shouted out at me – such a great sentiment – so I built the card around that.

After stamping and white heat embossing the sentiment, I used the confetti stamp – from the same set – to stamp with a white ink pad, with the dots radiating outwards and upwards.

Thinking of keeping the card quite open, and quite simple, I used the Antique Engravings cover die – layered several times – removed the frames from the die cuts, and placed down as you see.

I hope you can join us and share your ‘kindness’ creations with us this time round – I look forward to seeing what you create. xx

Show us a cute dog

Hi there. I am hosting the current challenge at Cardz 4 Galz, and a chose the theme of ‘cute dog/s” as it is national dog day today. I personally have two cats, and would to have dogs, but this isn’t feasible at the moment. So come and share with us your ‘cute dog’ creations – girlie them of course – and try to persuade me otherwise…..

Here is my card:

For some strange reason, I ordered this Simon Says Stamp die a while back – don’t ask me why – definitely on a whim. I do love SSS animal and critter dies

I die cut the little doggy, but I did create a background for me to add all the little bits onto, then fussy cut it.

The pink ink smooshed background is from my stash – loving the Kitsch Flamingo – and die cut, with an extra white die cut rectangle for added interest.

The sentiment is from Heffy Doodle.

I hope you can come and join us with your girlie and doggy creations. I’m looking forward to seeing what you create. xx

Sparkle and Shine

Hello. A new challenge has started at The Holly and Ivy Christmas Challenge. As always, the theme is ‘anything goes Christmas/festive’. Here is my card:

The card base is one I’ve had a pack of for quite a few years, and I added a glittery snow bank for the trees to stand on. The trees are from Sue Wilson – possibly the colours the reveres of what they should be – but I wanted the green against the background.

The sentiment is from Catherine Pooler. All the glittery card is from Crafters Companion.

I hope you can some and join this time round.

Be Happy…..

I have a few cards to share today based on the same die set. This was a die set from our Camp Counsellor – Laura Bassen – for from the Concord & 9th Summer Camp a few weeks ago. Each of the six ‘cabins’ has their own Camp Counsellor, and each of the counsellors gifted a die set – and Concord & 9th then allowed us all to order all six of them – therefore I have another 5 to play with!

Their next two day event has just been announced and closes after one week – so if you’re interested, then I suggest you go and take a look…..

Here are my cards:

I made another couple of cards using the same colours – just arranged slightly differently:

The colours I used were for the current challenge at Color Throwdown. I also added some Tonic Nuvo drops in the challenge colours – I really can’t stop when I start to use them…..

The Alphabet Challenge – Just One Word

As you can see from the title, as we have reached the letter ‘J’, the next theme at The Alphabet Challenge is ‘Just one word’. Here is my card:

I used the same technique as previously with the Altenew embossing paste and Prize Ribbon Distress paint to create the blue paste, then used a stripe stencil from Time 4 Tea Designs. The Altenew stamp set was used but not using any of the layers, to keep the circle image simple and clean against the blue striped background.

The blue panel was die cut with a die from Catherine Pooler, as I liked the postage stamp edge……

The ‘Hello’ sentiment is from Simon Says Stamp, and for this I layered it three times with white card, then took the Altenew orange ink, smooshed it onto another piece of card, then die cut that and placed on top of the other layers.

I hope you can come and join us with your ‘just one word’ creations. xx

Cardz 4 Galz – add texure

Hello. The new challenge at Cardz 4 Galz is to add texture to your girlie makes. Here is my card:

The texture I chose was to add some embossing paste through a stencil. This paste is from Altenew, and I added the new Tim Holtz colour – Prize Ribbon – to the paste before scaping through the stencil.

The Altenew paste comes as a light mousse consistency, and leaves a soft, almost flexible and furry texture when dried. I made so much of the coloured paste – that I couldn’t resist creating more backgrounds and cards with what was left………….and it certainly went a long way:

I used several stencils, and cut the panels in several ways, adding some Altenew stamps in varying layouts. I left most of them without a sentiment, as I can add later if I choose – but I also like the look without a sentiment too.

I hope you can come and join us with your textured creations – I look forward to seeing your creations. xx

Deer Season’s Greetings

The Holly and Ivy Christmas Challenge has started another ‘anything goes Christmas’ challenge – here is my card:

The deer and trees is a die set from Crafters Companion – bought on a whim – and found again when I was entering some new buys into the CML app.

I die cut the main deer image into the front of my card panel, then used some light brown/Kraft card stock for the trees. When putting the card together, I did cut off the frame for the trees, as it seemed to be poking through the front window a little more than I liked.

I used another of my ink blended backgrounds – I still have lots of those ready for crafting – and die cut a slightly larger square than the main panel, and placed it behind the deer, then glued the trees onto that.

As the back of the base looked a little messy, I die cut a rectangle to cover the different layers and adhered it to make it look neater.

The sentiment is from Uniko – I wanted a fairly plain, un-coloured sentiment, so as not to detract from the main image.

I hope you can come and join us with your Christmas creations – anything goes, as per usual……. xx

Embossing white on Kraft

Hello. Having enjoyed some playing in my craft room, trying out new techniques, revisiting old techniques, I have a couple of cards to share today. Both are a CAS design, but the white embossing on the Kraft card really makes the images pop, I think so anyway. Here are my cards:

I took the images from Altenew ‘Wild Flora‘ stamp set, and stamped then white heat embossed. I die cut the panel down with Lawn Fawn stitched rectangles, then added to a card base.

The sentiments were also heat embossed but this time onto grey card stock, and added as you see.

I added some clear drops for some added interest, but also these don’t detract from the simplicity of the design – I don’t think.

ABC Christmas Challenge – P, Q, R

Hello. ABC Christmas Challenge has reached the letters above and we want to see your Christmas makes with the following themes:

P for Plump – think Father Christmas, Robin, Pudding

Q for Quality Street chocolates – using the chocolates or the colours

R for Ribbon

Here are my cards with P and Q:

P for Plump:

Q for Quality Street:

For the first card, I used the Hero Arts Alignment tool to ink blend a square in the card base. I then stamped, coloured with Copics, and die cut the balloon images from Clearly Besotted, and drew some white gel pen on for the balloon strings.

I also received some little gem sticky thingies from my Stampin Up Demonstrator that day – so I added those too…..

For the second card I’ve gone a completely different route – not so much CAS, is it?

The purple background is alcohol ink on Yupo paper. That purple panel was die cut using a Sue Wilson Big Bold Words die – saving the negative space and each individual little piece which came out – then put the sentiment, it’s outline, and all those little pieces onto a piece of black card which was backed by a double sided sticky sheet. To the part of the base outline which was left, I sprinkled some Creative Expressions black glitter, then placed the sentiment piece back onto the purple Yupo paper.

There’s a lot of colour and inspiration from the Design team – I hope you get time to check them out and join us for our challenge xx

Off The Edge

Hello. Happy Little Stampers CAS challenge has started a new challenge, and the theme this time is ‘Off The Edge’. Here is my card:

I used a Creative Expressions Paper Cuts die and backed that with a Twisted Citron ink blended piece of card from my stash.

I chose the sentiment as a friend and work colleague of mine is going through some ‘stuff’ at the moment, and I thought this would be suitable to send to her.

I hope you can come and join us in this CAS challenge, the theme as above – I look forward to seeing you there.
