Deer Season’s Greetings

The Holly and Ivy Christmas Challenge has started another ‘anything goes Christmas’ challenge – here is my card:

The deer and trees is a die set from Crafters Companion – bought on a whim – and found again when I was entering some new buys into the CML app.

I die cut the main deer image into the front of my card panel, then used some light brown/Kraft card stock for the trees. When putting the card together, I did cut off the frame for the trees, as it seemed to be poking through the front window a little more than I liked.

I used another of my ink blended backgrounds – I still have lots of those ready for crafting – and die cut a slightly larger square than the main panel, and placed it behind the deer, then glued the trees onto that.

As the back of the base looked a little messy, I die cut a rectangle to cover the different layers and adhered it to make it look neater.

The sentiment is from Uniko – I wanted a fairly plain, un-coloured sentiment, so as not to detract from the main image.

I hope you can come and join us with your Christmas creations – anything goes, as per usual……. xx

2 CAS cards

Hello. I have two cards to share today – both CAS – in appearance if not in making:

The first card is using the gorgeous Altenew ‘Bountiful Branch’ layering stamp set – thank goodness for my Misti! This is an old but loved stamp set, I have used a couple of times before – but maybe not this year, actually – I’ll have to have a look back…….

I was inspired to make a one layer card, stamping the branch slightly off the edge, and making the sentiment up from several in the Altenew ‘Peaceful Wreath’ stamp set.

The second card was a little more of a challenge – I tend to smudge cards when I try and do some ink vlending on them – but this worked quite well.

I took the card base, masked off most of it to leave the top part out and ready to ink blend using my Distress Ink ‘Speckled Egg’ – I chose this colour for a cool bluey kinda greeny background behind my glittery snowflake die cuts.

These snowflakes are from Uniko – maybe a couple of years old – and die cut out of some low shed glitter card stock. I decided the leave in the middle star, and arranged them as you see.

I did toy with different shaped and sized snowflakes, but in the end went with the same – and don’t the perfectly fit the edge of the card? Who knows – maybe Bev from Uniko planned it that way – I wouldn’t be surprised……

The sentiment is stamped in Distress Oxide ‘Speckled Egg‘ – the Distress ink was a little too ‘distressed’ looking for me. Yes – I bought the whole release of that colour – full set syndrome……

I shall be entering the following challenges:

Ho Ho Ho Rudolph

Hello there everyone. There is a new challenge beginning at Cardz 4 Galz, and this time the theme is – Cute Christmas. We would love to see your creations following this theme, and I see the Design Team had some fabulous inspiration.
Here is my cute Christmas card featuring the red nosed reindeer:

I bought the Simon Says Stamp November card kit of the month, and within that kit was this fabulous circle die from CZ design – I have been wanting to create something with this little charmer, and the theme for this challenge set me off to play.

I like the look of Kraft card for a clean and simple look, so used this for the deer – as you see. I then wanted a little bling – who doesn’t – so I used Pink Frog Crafts non-shed glitter card – now this card is a dream to die cut, and being non-shed – a win-win situation.

The sentiment is from Uniko, and because I heat embossed it twice, it lost a little bit of the detail in the letters, but you can certainly still see what it says – and being me it was the last thing I did on the card!

The eyes are Nuvo crystal drops, and the nose is a little red pom-pom which came with the card kit.

I hope you can come along and play with us for this challenge – I look forward to seeing what you create.

Snowy scene and zig zags

Hi again. There is a new challenge starting at ABC Christmas Challenge. The letters are ‘Y’ for Yuletide, and ‘Z’ for Zig Zags. We would like to see your Christmas related creations using one or both of these themes. Here is my take on the zig zag theme:

This isn’t the card I started out making, but I am pleased with the result, and the simplicity.

I used MFT ‘Snowy Scene Builder‘ for – well – the scene! This die set includes the two hills, the house, trees, and even the clouds. The cloud die I cut in half and used a piece either end of the card.

The house die I placed all the windows and the door back in – paper piecing I suppose – and die cut extra trees for a full treeline.

The zig zag paper background works quite well, I think, quite muted, but certainly adding interest to the card – which is why I kept the rest of the scene white.

The sentiment is from Uniko – quite a bold but open sentiment – and I tried to match one of the brown colours of the background paper with an Altenew ink.

I also took the Spectrum Noir glitter pen and added some to the roof of the house, the hills, and even the clouds – but that may be difficult to see.

I hope you can come and join us, and I look forward to seeing your creations in our gallery.

Amazing you…

Hello again. I have a card to share, taking inspiration from a couple of challenges:

I actually have no idea how this card came together! I was sat in my craft room, having just received a delivery from Seven Hills Crafts, holding the Altenew ‘Leafy Garland’ die, wanting to use that die for the card, and trying to decide how to use it.

I cut it out of white card, just to get a feel of it, and this card just kinda happened……

I took the Concord and 9th ‘Blooms Fill-in’ stamp set, and after stamping the background of the stamp in red, I then used ‘Rockin Red’ embossing powder on top to give some shine and glimmer:

I used pink to stamp the inner part of the flowers, not adding any of the extra detail for the images – though there are loads provided with this stamp set. The colours for this challenge are red, white, and pink.

I then cut a white tag, die-cut a smaller tag from the stamped ‘Blooms fill-in‘ piece of card, played with a placement of three of the die-cut leafy garlands – and there we have it.

I decided on a black background because it highlighted the garland die-cuts, so for the sentiment – using a Uniko sentiment – took a piece of black card, and white heat embossed it.

I shall be entering the following challenges:

Robots and Bears

Hi again. I have had a crafting marathon today, and made several cards, inspired by several different challenges.

Here is my first card for the current challenge at CASology, with the cue word being ‘wave’:

I used the new stamp and die set from Heffy Doodle called ‘Bots of Love’ stamped, then coloured with Copics, then die cut. The word is die cut from a spare piece of water-colour card I had from a previous card posting, using the Altenew Bold Alphabet dies. Using this spare piece of water-colour card, meant I matched the colour of the robot – an orange robot? I think it works..

This second card is taking inspiration from the current challenge at The Card Concept and the large red cushion, and the colours of red and grey; using the layout from the current sketch at CAS Colours and Sketches; and the cue word or theme from Inkspirational – ‘Text‘:

The background text heart is stamped in a Simon Says Stamp grey ink using the stamp from Concord and 9th ‘Cuddles and Hugs‘ stamp set – I’ve had this for ages, and never really used it that much, but I think it works for the text in the heart, and as a lovey-dovey background.

The bear is from MFT ‘Joyful Heart Bears’ from Stacey Yacula – again, a stamp and die set I’ve had for a while and never used, coloured with Copics. The sentiment is from Uniko, and their latest release.

This third card is using the same stamp set, again coloured with Copics, with the stripey background another Uniko recent release:

This card will be entering the following challenges:

Angelique Happy Day

Hi everyone. I have a card to share which looks simple, but took me quite a while to decide on my design:

I combined a couple of challenges for inspiration. The colour scheme is from the current challenge at Less Is More, to use navy and yellow, and the also the current Flower Challenge, to use my latest stamps and dies.

I bought this Altenew Angelique Motifs stamp and die set from Seven Hills Crafts, and stamped all the images, which included the flowers, stems, and separate leaves. I was going to use the most gorgeous stems for this card, but went with the flower itself, and added some of the individual leaves as you see here.

The yellow stripes are a cut down piece of card using Concord and 9th Sketched Stripes Background stamp, and Catherine Pooler Limoncello ink. I am sure I will be using this stamp set again in the near future, and like how the blues came out with this flower.

The sentiment is from a Uniko stamp set, and I like how this sentiment can be used for many different occasions, especially when you need a card for no special reason in particular – a just because card.

I was looking through my Uniko stash, as Bev has some fabulous sentiments and stamp sets, and currently has a brand new release going on for the company’s 7th birthday.

And – yes – I bought it all! Couldn’t resist! Her design team really have come up with some brilliant cards………..

Now, I know this is an early posting, and not a scheduled posting either – just up early, getting ready for work, and decided to put this together now instead of later today.

Isn’t crafting fabulous that way? Any time, any place, anywhere……!!

🙂 🙂

Have a wonderful day

Hello again. I hope you are well. I have had some new deliveries this week, and there is more to come, but some of that is from Simon says Stamp – so I’ve no idea when that will arrive. It takes 2-3 weeks for my sister to get her stuff and she lives in Canada………..I’ll let you know.

I have made a card I would like to share based on the colour scheme from Color Throwdown:

This stamp set is one which arrived yesterday from Crafters Companion, and when I saw it for sale on the website – it kinda just jumped into my basket. I particularly like that you can also die cut the whole image – or either side of it – which is what I did here.

I took me a little time to figure out which part to cut, which part to place under my cutting plates – it looks so much easier when someone else does it!

I coloured the image with yellow and green Copics, die cut one side of it, then stamped a sentiment from a Uniko stamp set.

The black card was embossed using the fabulous We R Memory keepers next level embossing folder, and the whole thing put together as you see.

I thought the white was a little too – well – white, so I added a few black Nuvo drops.

I even managed to get outside and take the photo – even though it’s a little grey and dull. Here is the embossing a little closer:

I shall be entering this card into the following challenges:

Oh My Stars!

20180619_202236

Hi there. A quick card for you today, without any die cutting. I know – after the past couple of postings, I was kinda all die cut out……so I made this card with stamping only. I was going for a clean and simple look – which I believe I achieved.

I used the small three star stamp from Concord and 9th ‘Shine On‘ stamp set, stamping the outline in Catherine Pooler ‘Midnight’ ink, then filling-in with an Altenew orange ink.

The sentiment is from a Uniko stamp set, again stamped in ‘Midnight’ ink.

There’s not much more to say about the card, so I’ll leave it at that – except to say I will be entering the following challenges:

Hello there. I have a card to share with you today incorporating a technique I haven’t used for a while – gilding flakes. I wish I had remembered I had them when I was doing the other foil sentiment!

I began by using a stencil from Imagination Crafts, and spraying Cosmic Shimmer ink spray mist ‘Chic Pumpkin‘ through it. I masked the upper part of the card to follow the current MFT sketch challenge. Whilst that was drying, I covered a piece of black card with a double sided sticky sheet, and die-cut ‘thanks’ (Stamps By Me) several times. On the remainder sticky piece, I added some Indigo Blu gilding flakes ‘Autumn Blaze‘ and then die cut the word again.

After stacking them together – made so much easier with double sided sticky sheets – I looked at placement on my card. I thought just the word ‘thanks’ was too – well – aggressive, really, so I used a Uniko sentiment for the ‘so much’.

The flowers are MFT ‘Sketchy Flowers‘ stamped then die-cut and arranged as you see. I did quite a few of them, but if I added more, then it just looked over-crowded.

Once I had the idea and techniques in my head, it actually didn’t take very long to put this card together, so now I have to go and use the rest of the flower images and make some more – such a difficult chore…….!!
