Angelique Happy Day

Hi everyone. I have a card to share which looks simple, but took me quite a while to decide on my design:

I combined a couple of challenges for inspiration. The colour scheme is from the current challenge at Less Is More, to use navy and yellow, and the also the current Flower Challenge, to use my latest stamps and dies.

I bought this Altenew Angelique Motifs stamp and die set from Seven Hills Crafts, and stamped all the images, which included the flowers, stems, and separate leaves. I was going to use the most gorgeous stems for this card, but went with the flower itself, and added some of the individual leaves as you see here.

The yellow stripes are a cut down piece of card using Concord and 9th Sketched Stripes Background stamp, and Catherine Pooler Limoncello ink. I am sure I will be using this stamp set again in the near future, and like how the blues came out with this flower.

The sentiment is from a Uniko stamp set, and I like how this sentiment can be used for many different occasions, especially when you need a card for no special reason in particular – a just because card.

I was looking through my Uniko stash, as Bev has some fabulous sentiments and stamp sets, and currently has a brand new release going on for the company’s 7th birthday.

And – yes – I bought it all! Couldn’t resist! Her design team really have come up with some brilliant cards………..

Now, I know this is an early posting, and not a scheduled posting either – just up early, getting ready for work, and decided to put this together now instead of later today.

Isn’t crafting fabulous that way? Any time, any place, anywhere……!!

Floral and Sweet

Hi there. I managed to create a couple of cards over the past couple of days, completing them last night. The first is for the current challenge at Time Outย Challengesย with the theme of food and drink with the option of one layer:

I went for one layer, and used the Altenew ‘Hand Made Tags’ stamp set to stamp images in a Catherine Pooler ink. As I created a background card using tropical leaves last time and loads of different colours, this time I stuck to one colour for the multitude of images, and then Altenew inks for the three layer stamping chocolate cookie thingy…..I’m not sure what these are called, but ‘chocolate thingies‘ works for me!

The sentiment is from Altenew ‘Way Too Sweet‘, highlighting the one chocolate thingy that is made to stand out.

I usually get a lot of smudging when I try to make a one layer card, but I am pleased to say I didn’t on this card – yay!

The second card is completely different, well – cards really:

I used the inspiration and layout from the current challenge at Fusion Card Challenge. The flowers are Altenew ‘Floral Fantasy‘, stamped using Altenew inks, then die cut. The leaves on the first card are from the same stamp set using a variety of green inks, and the leaves from the second aย card are from another stamp set I messy water-coloured as a contrast with the bright flowers.

The wood grain is from a piece of Stampin Up DSP I have had for absolutely ages, and found again recently, and the striped card is stamped from Concord and 9th ‘Sketched Stripes Background’.

I decided to go with a small and unobtrusive sentiment, as the card itself has bold colours and large bright images.

I made two cards, as I stamp more than I need so I can play with layouts side-by-side, and usually vary them slightly.

Have a good day, and I’ll speak again soon. ๐Ÿ™‚

Otters and Christmas and Colours

Hello there. I am afraid I have been crafting…..and have produced several cards for several different challenges. There is a lot of inspiration out there at the moment, and whilst I have time to craft, I am enjoying using the themes and colours for these challenges.

The first card is using the MFT ‘Otterly Love You‘ set – again – as it was still out on my desk, and I thought I would get inky and messy, water-colouring and distressing.

The layout is taken from the current MFT Sketch Challenge, and other than the Distress Oxides and the Zigs – a completely MFT card. I always want to do scenes but struggle with the organisation of the products, so a sketch like this is ideal –ย I can do little mini-scenes in each square.

As you see, completely different to the card from yesterday, as I water-coloured the otters in several brown colours, then went back in with a clean water brush to remove part of the colour in the centre of each otter. The rocks and fish also come with that stamp and die set.

This card will also be entered into the current challenge at Moving Along With The Times, with the theme of wild animals.

This second card is completely different:

A simple card – sorry it’s black and gold again (last one, I promise) – and using the Altenew ‘Poinsettia and Pine‘ stamp and die set. The poinsettia stamped and heat embossed in gold, some gold embossing powder added to the gold layer below it to make it match, and the die cuts used were from Catherine Pooler.

This card will be entered into the current challenge at CAS Christmas Card Challenge poinsettia as a theme – and the current challenge at CAS on SundayCAS Christmas in July.ย

My third and final card is an homage to Bev at Uniko. She has lost a fur baby recently, so it can’t be an easy time for her and her family, so a little support is appreciated, I’m sure.

Today she is hosting her third stamping retreat – a very busy lady! I have been to the previous two retreats and not able to make this one, but as I am using the colours from CAS Colours and Sketches – Bev and Uniko came straight to mind…….

I use the challenge colours of Powder Pink for the Concord and 9th Sketched Stripes Background, the Lemon Lime Twist for the little leafy stamps you see, and as I don’t have Coastal Cabana, I used the Catherine Pooler Aquatini instead.

This is another kind of card I struggle with – one layer card. Why did I test myself again? The current challenge at Less Is More is for a one layer card and using stripes……they don’t make it easy, do they? ๐Ÿ™‚

I hope you all have a great weekend……….I feel some more crafting coming on…..I hope hubby doesn’t want any tea today………
