Pink Floral Fantasy

Hello again. I have a card to share with you today which took a little bit more planning than I thought it would:

The flower is Altenew ‘Floral Fantasy‘ – quite a large floral image – and stamped using three of he Altenew pink inks. I used a light grey for the solid leaves.

The sentiment is from Mama Elephant ‘Hilly Hello‘ and die cut as you see.

The planning part of it was the die cut sentiment – I did the first die cut and then looked around for papers I had which matched the pinks, but as I didn’t have any, I made my own background by stamping the solid leaves from the stamp set in the lightest of the pinks I used for the flower, with the added smaller star shape from Altenew ‘Build a Flower Daffodil‘ as I had a few white areas I wanted to fill-in.

I was going to just layer the background, but decided to ‘inlay’ the two layers together, as I knew the flower and leaves would have some dimension using my 3D glue. I didn’t want too much height on the card.

I shall be entering the following challenges:

Floral and Sweet

Hi there. I managed to create a couple of cards over the past couple of days, completing them last night. The first is for the current challenge at Time Out Challenges with the theme of food and drink with the option of one layer:

I went for one layer, and used the Altenew ‘Hand Made Tags’ stamp set to stamp images in a Catherine Pooler ink. As I created a background card using tropical leaves last time and loads of different colours, this time I stuck to one colour for the multitude of images, and then Altenew inks for the three layer stamping chocolate cookie thingy…..I’m not sure what these are called, but ‘chocolate thingies‘ works for me!

The sentiment is from Altenew ‘Way Too Sweet‘, highlighting the one chocolate thingy that is made to stand out.

I usually get a lot of smudging when I try to make a one layer card, but I am pleased to say I didn’t on this card – yay!

The second card is completely different, well – cards really:

I used the inspiration and layout from the current challenge at Fusion Card Challenge. The flowers are Altenew ‘Floral Fantasy‘, stamped using Altenew inks, then die cut. The leaves on the first card are from the same stamp set using a variety of green inks, and the leaves from the second a card are from another stamp set I messy water-coloured as a contrast with the bright flowers.

The wood grain is from a piece of Stampin Up DSP I have had for absolutely ages, and found again recently, and the striped card is stamped from Concord and 9th ‘Sketched Stripes Background’.

I decided to go with a small and unobtrusive sentiment, as the card itself has bold colours and large bright images.

I made two cards, as I stamp more than I need so I can play with layouts side-by-side, and usually vary them slightly.

Have a good day, and I’ll speak again soon. 🙂

2 more cards

20171217_124126Hello again. I have two more cards today, completely different to the cards from yesterday. Both of these were inspired by different challenges, and both ending today – talk about last minute again!

The first card was made using the colours from Color Throwdown – pink, green, kraft, white. I used the Dahlia turnabout from Concord and 9th (from Seven Hills Crafts whilst it was back in stock) and stamped four times using pink and green alternately, then used the matching die to cut out one portion of it.

I didn’t back the cut out part, and you can see through to the inside of the card, which I thought was quite a different way to use it. Of course, I then had to stamp the sentiment separately and add to the front of the card with carefully placed foam pads. I didn’t want the front sticking to the inside, did I?

The second card was made using the inspiration from CASology. A short but sweet word on the cue card – as per usual – current word being ‘Gray’.

I used the Altenew ‘Floral Fantasy’ set, and used the set of Altenew grey inks too. Once I had stamped it, then layered with some Narwhal cardstock, adding to a white base card, I then looked for a suitable sentiment…..and looked…..and looked. Finally, I couldn’t decide what sentiment to use – so I didn’t! I’ve done this before, and I think it looks just right as it is, and can be used for any occasion, or even as a ‘just because…..’ card.

Maybe I’ll have some time to play after work today, and be able to show what else I have been making.

Have a good day……… 🙂
