Flower-Butterfly-Vase

Hello again. I am delighted and honoured to be the Guest Designer for the new challenge beginning at All Fun Challenges.

For this challenge – the theme is always ‘anything goes’ and we were given a choice of images from Bugaboo. I chose this gorgeous ‘Flower Butterfly Vase’ digital image.

Here is my card:

I began by printing out the image onto ‘Make It Colour Blending card’, then picked colours of Copics………several greens, several blues, some pinks, and a couple of reds – not forgetting the grey for the shadow.

The blue patterned paper underneath the panel is a cut-down piece from Craft Box UK – and I even added a blue then grey Copic edge to it to try to match to the colours I had already used on the image.

The little sentiment tag is from a package of tags – I have no clue where they came from, and no clue how long I’ve had them – I found them during my Covid-19 lock-down ‘tidying’.

Well – I say tidying – but I then find things I haven’t seen for ages, or even forgot I had – and then of course you have to create something then and there – don’t you? Or is it just me……………..?

I’d love to see your creations for this challenge – I look forward to seeing you there. xx

‘B’ for Boy

Hello yet again. There is a new challenge starting at The Alphabet Challenge. We are at the letter ‘B’ – and we want to see your cards that are made for a Boy………..

Here is my card:

This is another challenge which was a challenge to me too. I don’t generally make cards for children, and struggle to know what to put together – but it;s all about being challenged, isn’t it? To maybe go outside your comfort zone?

I had a search through the Bugaboo website, as I have previously used their ‘Clyde Birthday’ digital image here – and found this very cute elephant digital stamp – so straight into my basket he went………

Once I had played with the size of the image, I printed him onto Make-It colour blending card – as per usual – then went at him with my Copics.

I obviously think of a blue card when I think of a young boy – rightly or wrongly – hence the blue balloons, but with some red to brighten the overall look of him.

I matted and layered as you see, and added a block birthday sentiment from my favourite sentiment set from MFT.

I hope you can come and join – I’d love to see what you create – and hopefully gain some inspiration for when I have make more cards for the youngest generation. xx

‘Y’ for Youngster

Hi there. A new challenge has begun at ‘The Alphabet Challenge’ and this time the letter is ‘Y’ – so we want to see your projects for ‘Youngsters‘. Here is my card:

I used a Boogaboo digital image called ‘Clyde Birthday‘, resizing and then printing out onto Make-it Colour Blending card.

I looked through my range of Copics for some colourful and varied colours and came up with what you see, using three of each colour family. Once coloured, I let him dry for a while, then added some glossy accents to the balloon…….

Yes – I know there is glossy accents all over the image – one of my cats came to ‘help’ at just the right/wrong time – and the glossy accents smeared over the dragon head – so instead of reprinting and re-colouring – I smothered the glossy accents over the whole image of Clyde…………….! And I like it!

A photo where I captured more of the glossy-ness:

As this was a colourful card for a youngster, I added some DSP behind in layers – I think they are Stampin Up – and actually the colours matched quite nicely.

Of course – as no-one has staged an intervention to stop me using Tonic Nuvo drops – I added some in the top corner, as I felt it looked a little bare.

The sentiment is from MFT, a clean and block sentiment – a style which I felt suited the card.

Before the ‘accident’ with the glossy accents, I was going to add some white gel pen lines to the image – but that obviously couldn’t happen now…..maybe next time. I found colouring this image quite a joy – and I usually find colouring a chore on larger images……

this kind of card isn’t my usual style – I don’t make cards for the children/youngsters, but I really, really enjoyed putting this card together – maybe another string to my bow?

I hope you can come and join us for this challenge, and I hope to see you in our gallery. xx
