Your Time To Make A Splash

Hello – just nipping in to share a CAS card for a couple of challenges. I have been thinking about both of these for quite a few days – and whilst browsing through the CML app came across a couple of Clearly Besotted stamp sets I thought would work perfectly:

I wanted it to look like the dolphin wash diving into a pool of water, so as this needed just a tiny bit of masking, I stamped the dolphin first, masked the little nose off, then stamped the puddle.

The sentiment and little splashes were added, and all coloured with Copics to match the colour challenge.

A CAS card for someone who has recently had promotion, and a little encouragement for them.

I shall be entering the following challenges:

HLS – Love Is In The Air

A new CAS Challenge has begun at Happy Little Stampers. The theme for this month is ‘Love is in the air‘. Here is my card:

Quite a bit of thought went into this card. I wanted to make a slimline card, and knew I wanted to use the ‘Bots of Love’ from Heffy Doodle – I even stamped all three robot images and coloured them, thinking I wanted to add all three. Instead, I made what you see here.

The white base card and hearts were created by using Lawn Fawn ‘Scalloped Slimline with Hearts’, but creating a mask of the the three hearts – I just die-cut the masking paper.

Then, I stamped quite a few of the little cog and bolts images from the stamp set in a couple of Concord & 9th inks, then ink blended the hearts for them to show a little more against the white background.

When I had stamped the sentiment, I was playing around with placement of the robots, but found they covered quite a lot of the hearts, so I used the one you see – adding a spanner and a heart to him.

I hope you can come and join us, and I look forward to seeing you in our gallery – the team has made quite a few ‘loving’ themed cards. xx

Spelling The Season

Hello once again. I hope you are keeping well. A new challenge has started at The Holly and Ivy Christmas Challenge, the theme is always anything goes goes Festive/Christmas. Here is my card:

The alphabet was stamped, Copic coloured, and cut out using my Scan’n’cut machine.

Once the letters were arranged on my slimline card, I thought it was a little too CAS, a little too plain, but didn’t really want to add a scene, or add anything into the background, or too many other layers so I turned to my Clearly Besotted stash again, and found these images.

Stamped, coloured, then cut out with my machine – and added to the letters so it looks like they are popping over them – they are called ‘pop-up’ Christmas after-all………

I think I’m getting the hang of this machine for cutting out my stamped images – as long as the images have a good outline, and in fact on the second photo – the snowman over the letter ‘a’ – you can still see a pencil mark I made to ensure the Scan’n’cut outlined the whole image – I will go back and erase that at some point – honest!

I was much happier with these characters and the letters – still CAS, but not plain – to me anyway.

I hope you can come and join us and get your stash ready for this next Christmas – hopefully a more family orientated Christmas…………I look forward to seeing your creations in our gallery. xx

Keep Being Amazing

Hello there. A quick post to share a card using the colours for the current Color Throwdown challenge:

Using the Concord & 9th ‘Wildflower Fields‘ stamp set, and Concord & 9th inks, I stamped directly onto the card base – two shades of pink for the flowers, green stems, and blue sentiment, which is from the same stamp set.

One more encouraging card in a very simple design but I think looks quite effective – I have a few people in mind to receive this – I may have to make more of them.

I hope you are all keeping well and managing to have a little crafty play. I did a Jenn Shurkus Facebook class on Saturday – UK time was 3pm – 10 pm – I think it wore me out.

I have still to complete the cards as there were some products I didn’t have, but a couple of them have arrived since – even though I did go through my stash to see what would work…..and I will be finishing them off over the next couple of days.

I will post them at some point so you can see what we made – 5 cards in total – three during the class, and two bonus cards – all very sweet and completely different ideas to what I would usually make.

I am looking forward to doing more of these classes – maybe I will see you online during one of them. xx

A Tweet Hello

Hello once again. I seem to have hit a crafting mojo over-load……and I’m loving playing in my craft room.

Today I have a card to share inspired by a couple of challenges:

Using the MFT ‘Birdhouse‘ die set to cut – well – the birdhouse – and colouring the central inner circle of the opening with a C3 Copic marker, and put together as you see.

I then die-cut the ‘Turtle Doves‘ from Simon says Stamp out of white card-stock, planning to colour the beaks – but I like them pure white. I didn’t realise the beaks and feet came separate when die-cut – but I left the legs off making the doves look like they are sitting on their front porch……

The dies and bow from the Turtle Doves die set were added as you see, and the sentiment is from MFT ‘A Tweet Hello‘ stamp set.

I feel there will be more encouraging cards, and cards with similar sentiments coming in the near future, to try and help make someone’s day a little more pleasant.

HLS January CAS Challenge

Hello everyone. I am very pleased to let you all know I am now on the Design Team for the Happy Little Stampers CAS Challenge! Who would have thought I would be on a CAS DT, never mind for Happy Little Stampers – I am more than stoked…….

My first CAS Challenge as part of the Design Team has the theme of ‘Short and/or Tall’

……….here is my card:

I used the Heffy Doodle ‘Lil Lighthouse‘ stamp and matching die set, also stamping a few of the little rocks from Lawn Fawn ‘Christmas Fishes‘ so it looks like the lighthouse is on an island in the middle of nowhere.

All images coloured with Copics, and using the sentiment from the same lighthouse stamp set, outlining the sentiment strip with one of the colours of yellow I used on the door of the lighthouse – just so it stands out a little more.

The ‘rays’ of the lighthouse is from the matching die set, and I just coloured a piece of card and stuck it beneath the holes.

I hope you can come and join us – there is a lot of varied inspiration from the DT – be sure to keep your projects CAS using the challenge theme. I hope to see you there. xx

Wishing You Warm Winter Fuzzies

Hello once again. I have had the opportunity to use one of the Brusho and Sparkle pen backgrounds I created last week to create this CAS card:

The main card is die cut with a Lawn Fawn backdrop die, and stuck down onto the glittery, splattery and inky background.

The Snowman is from Mama Elephant, and I used a technique taught by Jenn Shurkus in a recent virtual craft session – outline a white object with C1 Copic marker. When we did her class it was polar bears, but I see now that it also works for snowmen, and therefore not complicated, and actually adds some dimension without being too fussy……

The sentiment is from the same stamp set.

No adding of extras, keeping the card quite simple and showcasing the blue background – though it was difficult trying to get a picture of the glitteryness – and the snowman.

I shall be entering the following challenges:

Yappy Christmas

Hello. I have been playing with some rainbow Copics:

I used a Whimsy and Simon Says Stamp collaboration stamp set – ‘Happy Pugmas‘. I don’t have dogs – two cats – but I thought this stamp set was so funny, with cute images and sentiments, so now it was time to play…..

The colours were inspired by the current challenge at ‘The Rainbow Card Challenge’ – this time the theme is ‘Holiday Rainbow’. I don’t think I’ve coloured an actual rainbow card before, so I looked for what the colours of the rainbow are, and followed the ROYGBIV – as you can see from my Christmas Trees.

These trees are from the same stamp set, and involved some masking. I first stamped the pug – masked him, then stamped a tree either side, masked them, then stamped again etc…….

I then looked for some Copics to colour the trees following the ROYGBIV for the rainbow, and it just so happened that the pug ended up having the green for his hat and ruffle.

For the baubles, I added some green Stickles. Now – I’m not a great user of Stickles, I have a few of them, but I find I usually make a mess, forgetting it’s still wet and smudging, or the dots don’t look right. I prefer Nuvo drops – they hold their shape better, but this came out quite nicely I think:

I’ll let you into a secret – I had no idea what the colour indigo was – I thought it was a deep purple – but it appears to be a blue/purple hybrid – I did have to google it. I also googled which Copic colours were the best for colouring indigo – and then hubby showed me a new Indigo Blu stamp set just sitting there on our kitchen counter……….with their logo being – obviously – indigo blue……..doh!

The base card is a dark grey – makes a change to white I think, and frames the main layer.

Thinking of You…..

Nipping in quickly to share a CAS card for the current challenge at CASology:

The cue for the current challenge is:

I’ve been thinking about this since the challenge went ‘live’ not really knowing what I wanted to do…..I pondered and thought for a few days, then the muse inspired me.

I used Concord & 9th ‘Wheat‘ card stock, ‘Wheat’ ink, and stamped this gorgeous Uniko lily, with the sentiment from the same stamp set…………

Seems quite simple when I look at the card – but it did take me a while.

That’s it – I told you I was just nipping in……… xx
