Making Spirits Bright

I had chance to paly with a new product yesterday, and created this card – and two more……

I used the colours for the current Color Hues Challenge – Teal and Silver – and the die from Pocket Full Of Happiness – now stocked in one of our UK stores – the Folk Snowflake Background.

This is such a versatile die – you can certainly use any colours to create this, and you can paper-piece – which I did here – or use additional dies to create a more dimensional look.

The first step was to die cut the plate three times – teal, matt silver, and then some silver glitter card stock.

I then created a 5 inch square card base by cutting down a 5×7 inch card base, then added a piece of double sided sticky sheet to the card base, then attached the teal background.

The glitter and matt silver pieces were then inlaid back into their spaces – thank goodness each of the pieces are able to be pieced anywhere. I couldn’t begin to think how long this would have taken me if the shapes were all of a different size…

The sentiment is a silver foiled strip, and I thought the jaunty angle on each end was a whimsical touch.

As I had die cut three whole background panels – I was able to create a couple more cards, just by changing the background panel and the inset pieces around:

Is there such a thing as a three-fer? Well, there is now…

Merry Christmas – GDT 52CCT

Hello everyone. One of my previous creations was chosen as the winner for the November theme at 52 Christmas Card Throwdown, and as such was invited to be a Guest design team Member for an upcoming challenge. The challenge starts today, and the theme is to create using a previous colour theme from 2024. All the previous themes are listed on the top of their blog page.

I chose to use the colours from June 2024:

Here is my card:

The background panel is a cover plate from Pinkfresh Studio called ‘Festive Grid’. I used a white A2 panel for this. The stars fall out of the cover plate, so behind them I used Pinkfresh Studio gold glitter card stock, then a thin 3D foam to adhere to a card base.

I then die cut the tree and stars. The tree is a freebie from ordering at The Greetery, and die cut using some Heffy Doodle card stock. As the little diamonds also fell out of the tree, I die cut it again using the gold glitter card stock and inlaid each of the little diamonds into the green tree. The star is also die cut form the same gold glitter card stock and adhered as you see.

The final touch was to add a gold foiled sentiment.

I hope you can come and join the team choosing a previous colour theme – there are certainly lots to choose from. xx

Geometric Birthday

Hi there. In between listening to the Maker Mania event happening this weekend, I have been creating a card inspired by a colour theme. Here is my card:

Onto a white card base, I adhered the most open Sizzix geo lattice die – die cut twice and layered – and then die cut that again with Concord & 9th ‘Sprout’ card stock. before removing it all from the die, I placed some ‘press’n’seal’ onto the back of it to keep all the little pieces where they should, then paper-pieced them into the white layers.

I’m glad I was in the right frame of mind to do this finicky job, and even more so when I saw it was coming together nicely.

I then replaced the centre shape – raised on 3D foam – and created my flowers.

These flowers are from Elizabeth Craft designs, and each flower has 6 or 7 layers to them. I die cut each one with a dark blue/navy card stock from my stash, and once they were glued together, I decided to run a dark blue Copic marker along the bottom edge of each piece, to create a little dimension within the flowers themselves.

I played around with their position, added stems from another floral set, and used 3D foam behind each one.

The white centre panel looked a little bare, and without adding gem stones (my current fad) I found some dots from a Concord & 9th virtual event in my stash and added them as you see, as well as stamping and adding the sentiment.
