Pretty Bows

Hello there. There is a new challenge beginning at Cardz 4 Galz, and the theme this time is ‘Pretty Bows’. We would love to see your paper-crafting related projects with this theme.

We are also have a Design Team call – so if you can create a card every two weeks following a set theme, be able to comment on your allocated numbers in the entries – I usually comment more – and host a challenge or two, picking the spotlight winners – then please come along and submit your entry for consideration. I’m looking forward to seeing what you create, and looking forward to greeting a new teamie…… xxxx

Back to the current challenge. Here is my card:

I began with a lilac card layer using Sue Wilson Stitched Squares, cut a smaller square with one of the layers, and then die cut one of the verso layers from the tonic die set. The bows in this verso layer can be lifted for added dimension, as you can see from the close photo.

After cutting a couple more layers from the Tonic set, I created a lattice bow using the Spellbinders tiered Mulitloop Bows die set, using a gem brad to put the layers of the bow together, and added to the card as you see.

I decided not to put a sentiment on this card, and will instead use a verse or poem in the middle instead, as I feel this could be quite a generic card.

I hope you can visit the Cardz 4 Galz challenge and see the creations from the Design Team – and I also hope you can come and join us – I look froward to seeing what you create.

Wedding Congratulations

Hi there. It’s been a few days since my last posting – now I’ve reduced my work hours, I seem to be planning more socialising events……..just what I need to do.

I managed to get away for a night with my bestie – we went to County Durham for the Uniko stamping retreat yesterday. Of course, we had to go the night before and have a few drinks and a nice meal. Bev from Uniko actually joined us for the meal – though she didn’t imbibe like we did – and we had a great meal and natter.

And then the next day crafting with Uniko products – some not yet released – and I am happy to say I will be using some of those ‘not yet released’ products over the next few days. Of course – I asked permission to do that.

This card has been made with some of my older dies. Not one iota of stamping on this card. I went back to my roots and created the kind of card I started creating many years ago – die-cutting, layering, sticking – using a lot of my Sue Wilson products. I turn to these every time I want a ‘full monty‘ card, and a lot of these dies have been out for years………..

This wedding card is for a patient I have known for at least 12 years. I saw him last week in clinic, and he announced he was getting married very soon – so I just had to prepare something special for him and his future wife.

The colour of the bride and groom was a happy mistake. I had obviously cut this couple out of black card stock the last time, and when I did the glitter card this time – some of the black came off…………I actually really like this effect. It makes the happy couple stand out a little more, I think.

I used Sue Wilson stitched rectangles for the layers, the sentiment is die cut several times and layered together for dimension, and the flower layer is the new ‘Intricate Lace‘ die from Tim Holtz/Sizzix. Again – one pass through the Gemini Junior………………

The glitter card is Crafters Companion, though with the sun hiding away today it was difficult to photograph it to show the glitter……I tried!

The bow is a Spellbinders die set, again from glitter card.

I shall be entering the following challenges:
