Gold and Green Christmas

Hello. After playing in my craft room I created this card. So very different to my recent posts – but the kind of many layers card I used to create back in the day. I had forgotten how much card stock this takes – and I must admit I ‘gutted’ a few of the layers. The dies used are from Sue Wilson – stitched squares, holly octagon – and are many years old:

I created a white card base to be slightly over the size of the first layer – and two layers of green, two layers of a brushed gold were matted – with one gold layer dry embossed – also a Sue Wilson embossing folder. The two smaller gold and green layers were die cut from the two larger layers – no waste, and you can’t see that I did that – don’t tell anyone!

Aligning the snowflakes on the gold layer took a minute or two – straight lines all over the place on that background.

The holly berry octagon was die cut in the green, and the other additional holly layers either green or gold – depending on how it all fit together.

I decided not to add a sentiment, but I’ll certainly add something to the inside instead of the front.

Black and Blingy Birthday

Hello there. I am hosting the new challenge at Cardz 4 Galz, and I chose the theme of ‘Black and Blingy‘. I am sure there are some ideas rolling around in your head to be able to join us in this challenge.

Here is my card:

I knew I wanted some black foliage, and turned to a Tattered Lace die – A Little Bit Ditsy – and die cut this out of black glimmer card stock from Stampin Up.

That in itself was a challenge! Getting all those little details to come out of that card – slowly, slowly peeling it out – it took some doing. despite using my Gemini Junior, and cutting it s few times – I almost gave up!

I’m glad I persevered – and even cut two of them!

The butterfly is from Spellbinders, and I took the decision to add some pink glittery card underneath the black butterfly – I like the pop of colour.

The sentiment is from a Sue Wilson set which started out as ‘Happy Birthday to You’ – but I trimmed it down as you see.

All the card – except the base card – is glimmer card from Stampin Up – no stamping on this card at all – just die cuts.

Sticking items onto glimmer card is also a challenge – so once I had used some glue I turned again to me Tonic Nuvo drops and added some black dots strategically – to enable to some added dimension, but also to act as glue to keep those flourishes down on the card.

I hope you can come and join us – I can’t wait to see your take on the black and bling theme. xx

ABC Challenge ‘N’ and ‘O’

Hello there. It’s time for another challenge at the ABC Christmas Challenge. The themes for this challenge are ‘N’ for No Peeking’ or ‘O’ for Ornament.

Samantha is hosting and she has 8 prizes up for grabs as she is celebrating a ‘noughtie’ birthday………..you’ll have to check the challenge blog out to see which one (!!)

My card is ‘O’ for Ornament:

I used a digital stamp from Stamp On It and coloured with Copics. There was also some use of a white gel pen for highlights.

The image die cut with a Sue Wilson die set and the background card die cut with a Spellbinders die I have had for absolutely ages.

The card for the background was a lucky find in my stash – I was looking for a piece of card to emboss and perhaps add some details, but when I saw the colours of this card, and that it seemed to match the colours I used on my image – well – there we are. Bingo.

I hope you can come and join us this month, and I look forward to seeing your Christmas creations with ‘No Peeking’ and ‘Ornament’…….. 🙂

The Design Team have some amazing creations, so please go and visit them. 🙂

Black and White

Hi there. I’ve been in a weird crafty mood since yesterday – trying things out, not liking what I’ve done, binning things. In the end I walked away from the craft room and went to do other things.

This morning, I settled down to watch some crafty TV, some of which I had already taped, and decided to try again. I first took a look at some challenges out there, and the first to catch my eye was the colour scheme for this card:

I knew I wanted to use more of the Thirsty Brush and Co stamp and die sets, and wondered how they would look in black and white. I must admit I like this – so I made another using the reverse effect:

Thank goodness for challenges – for giving inspiration. I am also glad I don’t tend to tidy or pack away new items until I have used them in some way.

I used a Sue Wilson die set for the base card and trellis effect. The Carnation Stamp and die set from Thirsty Brush and Co – which included the sentiments, and the two sets of dies for teach sentiment – I just swapped the black and white borders around.

Hopefully, my little crafty hump has gone……..

Wedding Congratulations

Hi there. It’s been a few days since my last posting – now I’ve reduced my work hours, I seem to be planning more socialising events……..just what I need to do.

I managed to get away for a night with my bestie – we went to County Durham for the Uniko stamping retreat yesterday. Of course, we had to go the night before and have a few drinks and a nice meal. Bev from Uniko actually joined us for the meal – though she didn’t imbibe like we did – and we had a great meal and natter.

And then the next day crafting with Uniko products – some not yet released – and I am happy to say I will be using some of those ‘not yet released’ products over the next few days. Of course – I asked permission to do that.

This card has been made with some of my older dies. Not one iota of stamping on this card. I went back to my roots and created the kind of card I started creating many years ago – die-cutting, layering, sticking – using a lot of my Sue Wilson products. I turn to these every time I want a ‘full monty‘ card, and a lot of these dies have been out for years………..

This wedding card is for a patient I have known for at least 12 years. I saw him last week in clinic, and he announced he was getting married very soon – so I just had to prepare something special for him and his future wife.

The colour of the bride and groom was a happy mistake. I had obviously cut this couple out of black card stock the last time, and when I did the glitter card this time – some of the black came off…………I actually really like this effect. It makes the happy couple stand out a little more, I think.

I used Sue Wilson stitched rectangles for the layers, the sentiment is die cut several times and layered together for dimension, and the flower layer is the new ‘Intricate Lace‘ die from Tim Holtz/Sizzix. Again – one pass through the Gemini Junior………………

The glitter card is Crafters Companion, though with the sun hiding away today it was difficult to photograph it to show the glitter……I tried!

The bow is a Spellbinders die set, again from glitter card.

‘H’ for Hang it up, ‘I’ for Intricate

Hello everyone. It is my time to host at ABC Christmas Challenge, and it is ‘H’ for Hang It Up, and ‘I’ for Intricate. I made a different card for each, and goodness did I have fun creating these two cards. As you can see – red was the theme………and I used ‘a lot’ of Sue Wilson’s die sets, and shiny and bright Crafters Companion card and glitter card stock
