Black and Blingy Birthday

Hello there. I am hosting the new challenge at Cardz 4 Galz, and I chose the theme of ‘Black and Blingy‘. I am sure there are some ideas rolling around in your head to be able to join us in this challenge.

Here is my card:

I knew I wanted some black foliage, and turned to a Tattered Lace die – A Little Bit Ditsy – and die cut this out of black glimmer card stock from Stampin Up.

That in itself was a challenge! Getting all those little details to come out of that card – slowly, slowly peeling it out – it took some doing. despite using my Gemini Junior, and cutting it s few times – I almost gave up!

I’m glad I persevered – and even cut two of them!

The butterfly is from Spellbinders, and I took the decision to add some pink glittery card underneath the black butterfly – I like the pop of colour.

The sentiment is from a Sue Wilson set which started out as ‘Happy Birthday to You’ – but I trimmed it down as you see.

All the card – except the base card – is glimmer card from Stampin Up – no stamping on this card at all – just die cuts.

Sticking items onto glimmer card is also a challenge – so once I had used some glue I turned again to me Tonic Nuvo drops and added some black dots strategically – to enable to some added dimension, but also to act as glue to keep those flourishes down on the card.

I hope you can come and join us – I can’t wait to see your take on the black and bling theme. xx

A Butterfly and a Tulip…

Hello everyone. Did you imagine I was going to tell a joke about a butterfly and a tulip, walking into a bar……. 🙂 🙂 hmmm – I might have to think of a joke about that.

It’s my turn to host at Cardz4Galz and I chose the theme of ‘Wings’……….I thought that would create a lot of varied creations and I hope you can come and join us this time.

By wings, we mean exactly that – birds, butterflies, dragonflies, fairies, dragons……such a wide interpretation, I can’t wait to see what you create. The Design Team has some interesting and varied inspiration, so I hope you have a look and see how they have each created their projects.

I decided to go CAS – very clean, very simple – well, once I had decided where I was going with this………. 🙂

I used the Simon Says Stamp ‘Sweet Tulip‘ wafer die, and cut it out four times from card with double-sided sticky adhesive, so I could stack them all together for dimension.

The butterfly die is from Spellbinders – very old, very much used by my mum in the past.

I used some Distress Oxide in Carved Pumpkin and Barn Door on a piece of card stock, blended, then cut out the back of the butterfly. The inner butterfly cut from black card-stock to create some drama.

The sentiment is from a stamp set from Crafters Companion, and stamped in Altenew Obsidian pigment ink for the crisp letters.

I look forward to seeing you in our gallery……….. 🙂 🙂

Turquoise Butterfly

Hello again. I have a card to share today, but it took me ages to find a suitable butterfly. I can’t believe I have so few butterflies in my stash – and I couldn’t actually find more than a couple of stamps, but I found this old Spellbinders butterfly die-set – which absolutely suited what I wanted to do.

I purposely took a wider photo – so you could the pheasants in the background – just above the butterfly. This next photo has another female off on her food hunting travels:

Back to the card………I found the butterfly die-set, and then looked everywhere for a turquoise ink, pen, marker, card – you name it – I hunted. Again, it took a while, but in the end I used a Copic Marker to colour a piece of ‘Make It colour blending card’ I ordered from Marker Geek – this is soooo smooth, and colours and blends beautifully.

I die-cut the butterfly, then thought about the card base….and thought….then realised I had a delivery of the new Stamps By Me die sets just sitting there waiting to be opened. So – this is one of the dies. A huge die – I mean huge – 8 inches square…..three passes in my Big Shot Pro – despite a shim (should have used the Gemini!!) and I stuck this down to a white card base.

The sentiment is from Visible Image – a stamp set full of encouraging sentiments I have been longing to use – and I think it suits a butterfly perfectly. I stamped the sentiment in a Lawn Fawn grey, as I thought a black would be too much.

A little close up:

The butterfly is only stuck down by the centre body area – the wings just floating there.
