ABC Challenge ‘N’ and ‘O’

Hello there. It’s time for another challenge at the ABC Christmas Challenge. The themes for this challenge are ‘N’ for No Peeking’ or ‘O’ for Ornament.

Samantha is hosting and she has 8 prizes up for grabs as she is celebrating a ‘noughtie’ birthday………..you’ll have to check the challenge blog out to see which one (!!)

My card is ‘O’ for Ornament:

I used a digital stamp from Stamp On It and coloured with Copics. There was also some use of a white gel pen for highlights.

The image die cut with a Sue Wilson die set and the background card die cut with a Spellbinders die I have had for absolutely ages.

The card for the background was a lucky find in my stash – I was looking for a piece of card to emboss and perhaps add some details, but when I saw the colours of this card, and that it seemed to match the colours I used on my image – well – there we are. Bingo.

I hope you can come and join us this month, and I look forward to seeing your Christmas creations with ‘No Peeking’ and ‘Ornament’…….. 🙂

The Design Team have some amazing creations, so please go and visit them. 🙂

Turquoise Butterfly

Hello again. I have a card to share today, but it took me ages to find a suitable butterfly. I can’t believe I have so few butterflies in my stash – and I couldn’t actually find more than a couple of stamps, but I found this old Spellbinders butterfly die-set – which absolutely suited what I wanted to do.

I purposely took a wider photo – so you could the pheasants in the background – just above the butterfly. This next photo has another female off on her food hunting travels:

Back to the card………I found the butterfly die-set, and then looked everywhere for a turquoise ink, pen, marker, card – you name it – I hunted. Again, it took a while, but in the end I used a Copic Marker to colour a piece of ‘Make It colour blending card’ I ordered from Marker Geek – this is soooo smooth, and colours and blends beautifully.

I die-cut the butterfly, then thought about the card base….and thought….then realised I had a delivery of the new Stamps By Me die sets just sitting there waiting to be opened. So – this is one of the dies. A huge die – I mean huge – 8 inches square…..three passes in my Big Shot Pro – despite a shim (should have used the Gemini!!) and I stuck this down to a white card base.

The sentiment is from Visible Image – a stamp set full of encouraging sentiments I have been longing to use – and I think it suits a butterfly perfectly. I stamped the sentiment in a Lawn Fawn grey, as I thought a black would be too much.

A little close up:

The butterfly is only stuck down by the centre body area – the wings just floating there.

Christmas Duo

I have two cards to share today, as I had time to craft yesterday. This morning I put in the final touches. The first card is using the colours from Color Throwdown:

As you can see, I took some craft card and stamped my newly arrived, new release ‘Snowflake Serenade‘ stamp set from Uniko. This stamp is quite large and winds around, so I stamped it a couple of times off the page, and added some extra snowflakes – all stamped and heat embossed with Wow! white embossing powder.

I coloured the holly leaves using a green Copic marker and arranged as you see. The sentiment is also from that same stamp set.

I shall be entering this card into the following challenges:

This is the second card:

I think I’m getting the hang of scene cards now – with the elements at least – and really enjoy colouring little images and playing with their placement on the card base.

I don’t play too much with the actual background, but also seem to be addicted to the Lawn Fawn ‘Stitched Hillside Backdrop‘ dies…..they are really, really useful in this kind of card……….I may have to put them away shortly – but I am enjoying using them too much! I still like the look that embossing the blank cut-out piece to add some background dimension gives, too. This time I used a little folder which gave some distressed lines.

The penguins and snowman are from Heffy Doodle ‘Wanna build a snowman‘ stamp and die set – yet another I am loving using this year. I am using this stamp and die set to create a bunch of cards for my work friends and colleagues.

2 Christmas Cards

I haven’t had much time to craft the past couple of days but as I had another delivery from Seven Hills Crafts today – I just had to make time!

This first card is made from the newly arrived MFT ‘Santa and Friends‘, and Lawn Fawn ‘Stitched Hillside Backdrop‘, with the piece that fell out of the die-cut embossed and placed back into the frame.

This second card took me a little longer – I do struggle with shaker cards – but I keep having a go at them:

I used the stamps and dies from Lawn Fawn ‘Ready, Set, Snow‘ adding Distress Glitter and glass beads in the snow globe itself, layering Kraft card which I coloured with some brown markers for some dimension, and sticking the trees inside the dome, but the snowmen outside the dome.

This was stuck down onto and piece of card I embossed with a Tattered Lace embossing folder.

This card will be entered into the following challenges:
