Elves, For Tree and Garland

A new challenge has started at ABC Christmas Challenge. We have reached the letters E, F and G – and we want to see your Christmas creations with the following themes:

E for Elves, F for Fir Tree, and G for Garland.

Here are my makes:

E for Elves
F for Fir Tree
G for Garland

The MFT ‘Christmas sElfies’ was stamped, coloured with Copics, and the square die-cut with a stitched square from Sue Wilson. Patterned paper adhered to a card base, and the sentiment strip raised with 3D foam – trying to keep the squares and lines etc in alignment – I think I did a pretty good job at that.

The second card using the Hero Arts stamp – an old one I don’t think I’ve actually used yet – stamped using Altenew Obsidian black ink direct onto the card base. I did use my Misti, and it took about three stampings to get a solid image. I liked the effect so much I stamped it again using a couple of Concord & 9th inks too. The sentiment is from my stash – no idea where it came from – and I even added a plain white Tim Holtz deer – just because I could, really…….

The third card is using a stamp and die set from Uniko. The leaves of the garland are stamped directly onto the card base, with the holly leaves, pine cones, and berries also glued down. Not too much dimension. I struggled with an appropriate sentiment on this card, and in the end left it without one – I’ll probably stamp one inside when the time comes.

It appears these three Christmas themes inspired me to create for all three letters – I must have had a mojo lightning strike that day!

I hope you can come and join us – please remember the letters have themes that we have chosen, and we would appreciate your Christmas creations adhering to those themes. I hope to see you in the gallery. xx

From our house to yours….

Hello again everyone. There is a new challenge beginning at The Holly and Ivy Christmas Challenge – the theme is ‘anything goes Christmas’ as always. You can make cards, scrapbook pages, bookmarks, boxes – as long as it’s Christmas related.

Here is my card:

I wanted to create a wreath on my card, with the sentiment in the middle taking centre stage, so I turned to my new Memory Misti – a present from my mum and sister for Christmas………..which I forgot I had! I know, I know – it was put to one side very tidily, and it wasn’t until I was re-arranging my room a little to make some space for mixed media ‘stuff’ that I found it again……

I started with a 6 inch square piece of card, and arranged some boughs from a freebie stamp set, and some fill-in smaller boughs from Uniko to create the design around the wreath.

I used a Stampin Up ink for the boughs, and even stamped the little poinsettia flowers in green – I didn’t want to introduce black anywhere on this card……………

I coloured two of the three leaf layers on the stamp in Copics – it seemed a little plain without the red in them – and yes – I added some Nuvo drops to the centre of the flowers. I think I was quite restrained with them, actaully!

The sentiment is from the same freebie stamp set, and the two circle dies are from a Sue Wilson set.

I like the overall simplicity of this card, with the most difficult part for me was deciding which images to use………..

I hope you can come and join us with this challenge – I look forward to seeing you in our gallery. xx

Meowy Christmas

Hello there. A new challenge is starting at ABC Christmas Challenge, the letters this month are ‘W’ for Wreath, and ‘X’ for fauX.

Here is my card for ‘W’ and Wreath:

I played around with the images I wanted to use first, then began by stamping the wreath, using Catherine Pooler inks, and the Uniko bough from the ‘winter foliage‘ stamp set.

I then used a red ink to stamp the dots around the wreath, but can’t remember which stamp set it’s from – as I’d tidied it away afterwards – very unlike me! I think it was Altenew – but not sure………

After placing the Simon Says Stamp ‘Christmas Cats‘ image in the centre, I masked it’s ears, then stamped the antlers, then coloured with Copics.

The holly and berries are from the same Uniko stamp set, and the sentiment is from the same Simon Says Stamp set.

I’m trying to use some of my designer papers, and found this brown one from Stampin Up which seemed to match the brown of the wreath, so I used that as a matting layer.

I hope you can come and join us this month, and add another card to your Christmas stash……..
