Many Shiny Snowflakes

Hello once again. I have taken some time to play in my craft room, and have created the following card:

Do you think there are enough snowflakes and shine?

I used an alcohol ink background previously created, some Simon Says Stamp holographic silver card, and the Tim Holtz 3D embossing folder – which also die cuts the snowflakes at the same time – to create the two different sized snowflakes.

I used a slimline card base and placed the snowflakes where I felt they should go. Some were hanging off the edge, and when I had cut those overhanging pieces off, I then placed those little bits into some spaces around the edge. I didn’t glue the snowflakes down completely – just the centres of them – so there was some movement and dimension.

In the other spaces on the card I added some sequins for even more shine.

The sentiment is also from Tim Holtz, stamped with a Distress Oxide, then used a blending foam to spread the ink around the sentiment – something I saw how to do from one of Tim’s live YouTube videos. I was amazed that the sentiment itself didn’t blur, but he colour was able to be blended – love it.

Birthday Balloons

Hello once again. I’ve been playing some more in my craft room, and using some of the backgrounds I created a while ago – this time using an alcohol ink piece of Yupo to create this CAS card:

I used this die from MFT which cuts the balloons and the frame, and with the additional balloons provided I die cut them from the piece of Yupo paper.

The frame I stuck down with some foam strips – they were very, very sticky so I’m glad I stuck it down straight! The balloons were stuck down using wet glue…….and then I wondered what I was going to do for the sentiment – I had forgotten to stamp it before I put all the layers together. I didn’t think the Misti would help, due to the dimension, so I actually stamped using an acrylic block! Shocker! I rarely do that because I always get it wrong…..

This time, I prepped my stamp, I used a Catherine Pooler ink, and chose an outline sentiment…….and it worked! It’s always good when a plan comes together – but I was nervous of spoiling the card…….I’m glad I didn’t! It is only a few pieces of card, but still……

Hugs and Just Breathe

Hi there. I’ve got a little behind in a few challenges I wanted to enter, so this time I’m posting two cards.

The first card is after playing with some alcohol inks – after watching Tim Holtz Facebook live sessions – he inspired me to just have a go:

I played very simply with the alcohol inks, as I knew I wanted to create a green and a purple piece of Yupo to die cut these images. Once die cut and arranged as you see, I stamped the Clearly Besotted sentiment.

Very simple I think – but I love these colours together. One thing I did notice – even with my Gemini Junior and a couple of passes – I still needed to cut those leaves a little with some scissors……….

I shall be entering this first card into the following challenges:

This second card took me a little longer:

You may be asking yourself why this card too longer – because of that blinking strip! I used Neat and Tangled Quilted Backdrop stamp onto the base card, after first masking off most of the card – this was stamped directly onto the card base – hence the masking.

I had to draw some extra lines in at the top and bottom, and then I coloured with Copics – trying to match the colours for the Color Throwdown Challenge.

It looked to bare when I had coloured, so I then added a couple of black card strips to ‘frame’ the coloured strip.

The sentiment if from Time For Tea Designs.

Shoes – Cardz 4 Galz

Hello there. There is anew challenge starting at Cardz 4 Galz and the theme this time is ‘Shoes’. Here is my card:

This card was extremely difficult to photograph – there are so many shiny elements on it………….so I took quite a few to try and capture the different parts as good as I could make it:

I began by die-cutting the Tattered Lace ‘Platform Shoes‘ in shiny red card. These are the kind of shoes I loved to wear – very high, huge platform, and lacy. Unfortunately – age and bunions and knees and hips etc have made wearing these kinds of shoes quite uncomfortable – but I still keep them just in case!

I took a piece of Yupo paper and some alcohol inks to try and create a dramatic background, and a piece of black card which had some shine and glimmer to it, and adhered as you see.

The sentiment is from Jan’s Digi’s and comes with a set of images with a ballerina and ballet slippers – but I thought it suited this card just as well. I played with the sentiment size a little, printed it onto white copy paper, stuck it onto a piece of card, them used a Sue Wilson die set to die cut then ‘deboss’ around the sentiment.

The sentiment panel was looking a little plain, so I used the Tattered Lace ‘A Little Bit Ditsy‘ die with some red and black card for a little more interest.

That same day I made this card, I received a Stampin Up delivery which included the sequins in red and black and clear – so I used a few of those flower sequins around and about – one must know how to stop sometimes, doesn’t one? 🙂

I hope you can come and join us this time. I am sure there are some stamps and dies out there which would be suitable – I look forward to seeing your creations in our gallery. xx
