Getting Ready For Christmas

Hi there. After quite a few days without posting, I have a couple of cards for you today. There is a new challenge starting at Cardz 4 Galz and this time the theme is ‘Get Ready For Christmas’. I am sure a lot of you are making lots of Christmas cards at the moment, and it would be great if you were to join us in our challenge.

Here is my card:

After I had stamped and die cut the Christmas tree, I stamped and die cut the poinsettias and leaves and arranged them all as you see. I wanted to add some ‘girlie’ pearls to the tree, and found some pink and green gems in my stash – goodness knows where they came from, or who made them, but I added quite a few. They are so tiny I thought I could get away with it……

The sentiment is from the same stamp set, and I think the font is simple enough against the trees and flowers on the bottom of the card.

As I stamped and cut two trees, I went ahead and made another card with a completely different layout:

This time just the tree, but with a larger sentiment – same stamp set – stamped and heat embossed using a green Wow! sparkly embossing powder.

CAS Christmas Borders

Hello once again. I have a CAS card to share today made for a few challenges. I find CAS quite difficult, and always want to add more to them – I have to restrain myself!

Here is my card:

I used a 5×7 inch card base, and stamped two of the borders from a Uniko stamp set, using Barn Door Distress Oxide.

That’s it- all done…………

However, trying to decide which borders to use, which one on top, whether to stick to two of the borders and not add more – now that was difficult.

The stamps are also a little longer than the card base – arranging the images to be as central as possible – again – not easy!

What’s up chicken butt?

Hi there. I have a clean and simple card to share today – though it did take me a little while to colour – trying to use what I learnt on my Copic class the other week – but not over-thinking.

I actually bought this stamp at the pop-up shop during the break in colouring, and have been waiting for an opportunity to ‘crack it open‘ – as they say……….and then the CASology challenge came up with the code word of ‘feather’ ………

After stamping in Gina K amalgam ink, I coloured with Copics. I actually used some of the colour ideas given for the Copic class. I even ‘grounded’ my image – can you see? That is something I hadn’t done before the class…………..maybe the grey is too light – I’ll keep trying……

Simply a Beautiful day

Hello yet again. The painter has finished, the builders left a couple of weeks ago – I have my house back. Now trying to sort things out, including looking through my crafty stash – possibly to sell on – yet to be decided.

Here is a card I created yesterday – quite a clean and simple card, yet I feel quite effective:

I stamped the tree from Honey Bee Stamps – Birds and the Bees – and added some extra leaves in some places, then stamped the bee hive and several of the bees.

All these coloured with Copics – simple colouring, just a couple of shades of each colour.

The sentiment if from Altenew – Birch Land – and this stamp set has quite a few lovely sentiments which I must use more…………

A quick update about dad – still waiting to plan his funeral as he died in Germany – the international death certificate etc – but he is in UK now, so is mum, and my sister has come over from Canada to stay with her for a while…..definitely until after the funeral – which may not be for another 2-3 weeks. We just carry on, don’t we………….?

This is probably the reason why my sentiments over the past couple of weeks have been more generic, more of wishing people well….

A quick post to share the card I have made for the photo inspiration from (Pin)spirational:

I have been thinking about the photo inspiration for quite a few days now, and was going along the sparkles and the word ‘love’ – but then I saw how beautiful the tree was in the corner of the photo – and remembered this stamp from Altenew – ‘Moments in Time‘.

I began by cutting a circle out of some masking paper, and using the cut-out to ink blend two distress oxide colours. I used the circle shape to kinda represent the ‘o’ in the word love…..

Once dry, I then stamped the tree, then the sentiment, in Altenew Obsidian ink. I didn’t smudge anything! I am so pleased with myself!

Clean and Simple Shapes

Hello again everyone. I have a card to share today which – even though looks quite simple – took ages to sort out the angles and design:

I did another card whilst I was at it, using the off-cut, and placing the sentiment in a slightly different place:

trying to show the colours:

I took one of the shapes from the Altenew ‘Simple Shapes XL‘ stamp set, and Catherine Pooler inks – because they give fabulous coverage on such a solid stamp – and just stamped a design. I then die-cut that piece of card, creating two triangles as you see.

It took me ages to try and get the correct shaped triangle for this card – I first die-cut the rectangle, then played with the final cut.

Rose Flurries Monochrome

Hello again. I am still creating as part of the Altenew 3D Floral Focus course, and this card is for Day 2 of that course:

Day 2 is about monochrome, and I feel even though the background die is quite complicated, the card itself has a clean and simple feel about it.

I first die-cut all the images from the Altenew 3D Rose Flurries out of white, then decided to cut a few more layers out of the light brown/kraft card and played around with the layers until I was happy. I did originally plan for three flowers, but I am pleased how this turned out with one flower.

I’ll just have to make another card – or two – with the remaining flowers!

I’ve also been trying Day three – using in-lay on the dies – but am really, really, struggling to get that right – I’ll keep at it – you may get to see an end result – but you may not!!!!

Hello again. I have a card to share with you today – it STILL hasn’t stopped raining – for the current challenge at AAA Cards:

I used one of the images from Clearly Besotted ‘Floral Spray’ stamp set, and inked using the new Altenew ‘Permanent Black Crisp Ink‘ – loving the crispness of this ink pad, by the way – and decided to ink just one of the images in this set.

I did play with both images, moving them around, but decided to stamp one only. The sentiment is from the same stamp set.

There’s not much more to add, but if it keeps raining like this for much longer – I’m going to have lots and lots of cards ready for any occasion……..

AAA Cards

Well Hello……

Hello once again. I have another card to share today, using a new stamp bought at the Doncaster craft show last week:

I just fell in love with this stamp set – cute and quirky. I chose this stamp as I thought just laying there, finger swirling in the puddle – cute. There are some great sentiments on there too – I am sure you will be seeing them in the future…

The image was stamped with Gina K Amalgam ink and coloured – very basically – with Copics, to match the colour challenge. To follow the sketch challenge, the two outer bands were pieces of card coloured with the same light blue copic, and die cut with Lawn Fawn ‘Stitched Simple Wavy Borders‘.
