Happy Hedgehog Birthday

Hello. I created a bright and cheerful card today using some new products from Clearly Besotted:

The white layer was first stamped using the hedgehog corner on the right side, masked off, and then a row of cacti stamped along the bottom. This row was also masked off, and a circle stencil – die cut out of mylar – used to create the orange sky.

With both stamp masks, and the circle stencil in place, I then used yet another stencil on top of all that, to use a fun little cactus images stencil to blend again for a tone-on-tone effect.

I then coloured the images with Copics, and added white gel pen for some details.

The sentiment was stamped in the same Distress Oxide I blended the sky with and fussy-cut.

White layered onto Kraft, then layered onto a card base.

ABC Challenge – W and X

Hello there. It’s my turn to host the challenge at ABC Christmas Challenge. Having reached the letters ‘W’ and ‘X’ – the Christmas themes we want to see are ‘W for Whimsical‘ – think playful, quaint, amusing – and ‘X’ for Xerox – multiple stamping, multiple images – whatever you think fits with the theme.

Here are my cards:

Whimsical

Xerox

On the first card, I used a Clearly besotted stencil – Trimmed Trees – and inked each different tree with s different colour – masking off the one next to it on the stencil – but also overlapping each tree to create the row of what I think are quite whimsical trees.

I then used a Tim Holtz sentiment stamp, then used a Zig glue pen over all the colours and added some glitter.

For the second card, I stamped one image from the Pretty Pink Posh stamp set multiple times on a Kraft card base with ‘wheat’ ink from Concord & 9th, to create a tone-on-tone look. I then used another of the the images from the same stamp set, coloured them with Copics, die cut them out, and placed them as you see. I also added some glossy accents to the leaves and berries.

The sentiment is from a Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous stamp set, which I stamped, used a stitched rectangle to cut it out, then distressed the edges with the same ‘wheat’ ink to enable it to stand out a little more.

I hope you can come and join us for this challenge – I look forward to seeing you in our gallery. xx

Rainy Day Hippos

Hello. I have a slimline card to share for the new challenge at The Alphabet Challenge, and the new theme of ‘R’ for Rainbow:

I enjoyed making this card, though there are a lot of elements to it.

I began by stamping the hippo, duck and puddle images from Clearly Besotted, coloured with Copics, and used the matching die set to cut them out. I know this is an older stamp set, as Clearly Besotted don’t produce matching dies any more….

The base card is using Concord & 9th cardstock to match the colours of the Copics I used, and the white layer is scalloped circles from Pinkfresh Studio.

I thought the area behind each window was a little too plain, so I used a matching ink colour and an umbrella stencil from Clearly Besotted to create a muted background.

All stuck down as you see – and some matching little sequins added – they were just kinda sitting there on my craft desk – I think I have a thing for teal/aqua colours………

The sentiment is from the same stamp set – adding the ‘rainbow’ theme to the card, even though now picture of rainbows – I thought out of the box…!

I hope you can come and join us for this challenge with your ‘rainbow’ themed creations – I look forward to seeing what you create. xx
