Eeek! It’s Your Birthday

Hello everyone. Once again it is the beginning of a new challenge at Seize The Birthday, where I am surprise party guest for a couple of months. This time the theme is ‘Birthday and Furry Friends’ – here is my card:

I started by stamping, colouring, and then die-cutting the images from the MFT stamp set.

The scalloped circles die was used as the background, and to add some colourful interest behind each circle I die cut three ink-smooshed backgrounds with three circles and placed them behind.

The sentiment is from the same stamp set from MFT.

I hope you can come and join us with your ‘Furry Friends Birthday’ creations – I look forward to seeing you there. xx

Hootiful Christmas

A Christmas card featuring owls in their Christmas outfits:

This time I coloured all the images with Zig Clean Colour Brush pens – which I haven’t had out in absolutely ages – so I thought I’d give them a go.

The images from Clearly Besotted were stamped in Gina K amalgam ink – a brown colour this time – and then coloured with my Zigs – a couple of browns and a couple of greens.

I have no idea what water-colour card I used – but it started to ‘pill’ a little when I tried to blend, so I didn’t really do much blending, and just went very gentle – I must remember not to use this stash again!

Once coloured and die-cut with the matching dies, I added some glossy accents to the eyes, and left them to dry whilst putting together the rest of the card.

A slimline card using Pinkfresh Studio scalloped windows, and adding some white glitter card behind each window. When I added my owls for placement, I decided they looked a little lost, so I used Heffy Doodle ‘Hootiful’ stamp and die set for the tree stump and branch.

The sentiments are from two different sets – selective stamping with some masking of part of the whole sentiments, to create what I wanted.

Rainy Day Hippos

Hello. I have a slimline card to share for the new challenge at The Alphabet Challenge, and the new theme of ‘R’ for Rainbow:

I enjoyed making this card, though there are a lot of elements to it.

I began by stamping the hippo, duck and puddle images from Clearly Besotted, coloured with Copics, and used the matching die set to cut them out. I know this is an older stamp set, as Clearly Besotted don’t produce matching dies any more….

The base card is using Concord & 9th cardstock to match the colours of the Copics I used, and the white layer is scalloped circles from Pinkfresh Studio.

I thought the area behind each window was a little too plain, so I used a matching ink colour and an umbrella stencil from Clearly Besotted to create a muted background.

All stuck down as you see – and some matching little sequins added – they were just kinda sitting there on my craft desk – I think I have a thing for teal/aqua colours………

The sentiment is from the same stamp set – adding the ‘rainbow’ theme to the card, even though now picture of rainbows – I thought out of the box…!

I hope you can come and join us for this challenge with your ‘rainbow’ themed creations – I look forward to seeing what you create. xx

Alphabet Challenge ‘L’ for Ladybird

Hello there. It’s my time to host The Alphabet Challenge. We have reached the letter ‘L’ and I chose ‘Ladybird’Ladybugs‘ for the theme. Here is my card:

I may have been late to the ‘slimline’ party – but I’m certainly having a good time now I’ve arrived!

When I chose the theme for this letter, I knew I wanted to use my Stampin Up ‘Little Ladybug’ stamp and die set again, and the slimline card is the perfect way to showcase ALL the ladybugs in this set – as well as the little flowers, grass and leaves – so much space to use.

After stamping with Gina K amalgam ink, colouring with Copics, then die-cutting I turned to sorting out what shapes I would use on the slimline card. This die from Pink Fresh Studio I chose because of the scalloping around each circle – three little scenes I could create.

I used Concord & 9th card stock to die cut the flowers, leaves, stems and grass, then treated each little circle as it’s own scene – as you see here.

I also added some gems to the flowers and around the sentiment, just an excuse to add a little bling.

I hope you can come and join us in our ‘Ladybird/Ladybug’ theme. I look forward to seeing you in our gallery. xx
