Hope Your Day Is Purrfect

Hello there. I have had a busy few days out and about, but managed to find time to play with some products from my stash bought from a UK Facebook live sale they have every month:

The theme for this card is from the current challenge at As You Like It. They want to know if you are a cat or dog person – and why……. As most of you know, I am currently owned by four cats. We have never had dogs – both working full time for forty years – and therefore cats are what we started to homing 18 years or so ago.

These products from AALL & Create were an impulse buy, purely because they are cats, and the colours in this creative box sang to me.

I used one of the background cards which came in the box, and die cut the black layer from another AALL & Create die set. To get everything on the background I wanted, I die cut the black twice as it wasn’t quite long enough and just layered it behind. I then used a piece of paper from my stash to put behind the black, and then added to a 5 x 7 inch off-white card base.

The sentiment was stamped onto a piece of the background paper, then I used a smaller die from the frame set and angled it around to get the same edging.

I added the sentiment first, then arranged four of the cats as you see. I chose cats which would stand out a little from the gorgeous background, added the word ‘LOVE’ as well as the heart – ephemera from the same creative box.

I am not one for using lots of ephemera, but I have quite a lot from previous crafty events which I may just have to play with.

Shabby Chic……GDT Craft Challenge

Hello there. I was lucky enough to be chosen as winner of a previous challenge at The Craft Challenge, and invited to be a Guest Design Team member for an upcoming challenge. The challenge theme is ‘Shabby Chic’ – here is my card:

So – I am hearing you ask ‘is this really Loopyloo? Has someone taken over her blog for a day?’ Well – this was certainly a challenge for me – but I’m giving it a go – and I really had fun with this card….

I asked for hints and tips from Jo and the CRAFT Team – and was advised to be posh in a tatty way, some torn paper. I also had a look through Pinterest – quite a bit of research to give me ideas – and then I played….!

I hunted out some patterned paper, some paper flowers, some pearls, my edge distress tool, and my ribbon.

My card base is 5×7 inches, and I added several pieces of patterned paper, various but muted colours, distressed the edges, inked those distressed edges just a little with some Distress Ink and glued them down. I offset them so you can see the layers, and so that the large rose on the top piece of paper could also be seen.

I found some shabby ribbon which I have ‘stored’ for the past 3 years, and used a muted brown colour as a base for the flowers. Using my hot glue gun I added the ribbon, the flowers – cutting and bending until I was happy with the outcome. I added some gold wax to some of the leaves which I thought were too bright

I found some pearls in varying sizes and attached them with wet glue – dotted them all around the flowers, and onto the ribbon.

I really had fun adding all the embellishments and details. It was a challenge for me – but I think I rose to the occasion…..

I hope you give it a go and join us at The Craft Challenge. xx

Column Card

Claudia has chosen the next theme at Cardz 4 Galz, and she wants to see your shaped cards. Here is my card:

I created the base column card using instructions from a previous online crafty event – Maker Mania – and it was quite simple to put together.

I chose a white base card, and then used some Graphic 45 papers and ephemera to embellish. I don’t use my patterned papers enough, and I certainly don’t use ephemera very much, but I am trying different things, exploring different avenues – anything to do with paper crafting I’ll give it a go.

This also folds down to be mailed easy:

I struggle with layering and ephemera, what colours to use and where to place the items, but I’ve decided that what works for me is to lay things out and just go for it……..as long at the ‘stuff’ co-ordinates it seems to work. I can see I’ll be playing around a little more in the future.

I hope you can come and join us with your shaped cards. xx

Santa Merry Christmas

Hello. The Holly and Ivy Christmas Challenge has started a new challenge. The theme is always ‘anything goes Christmas‘. Here is my card:

On a white card base I added some patterned paper – still going to try and use more patterned paper in my makes – and then topped that with a white piece which had been embossed with a Simon Says Stamp 3D embossing folder.

I looked at my Christmas ephemera – another stash of craft items I want to use more of – and found this cute and layered Santa, which I added as you see.

The sentiment is also a layered ephemera piece, but it had been layered wonky – so I removed that piece of foam and glued the layers directly together, and added to the bottom of the card.

I hope you can come and join us – I look forward to seeing your creations. xx

Merry And Bright

Hello. I’m a little late posting for the new challenge at The Holly and Ivy Christmas Challenge. We have started a new challenge and – as usual – the theme is ‘anything goes Christmas’.

Here is my card:

During the holiday season I took time to sort out some patterned papers and ephemera I have, and decided to try and use them more. Here is my first attempt at that.

I took a 5×7 inch card base, cut down two patching patterned papers. The papers were 6×6 inches, so to keep the sentiment and poinsettia from one piece of paper, I added a strip of another piece to one side. Along the join, I added a strip of gold.

There are three ephemera pieces on here – the poinsettia to the top left, the little heart, and some extra little leaves to the bottom left.

I hope you can come and join us – I look forward to seeing you in our gallery.

Ephemera Christmas

Hello once again. A new challenge has started at The Holly and Ivy Christmas Challenge. The theme is always anything goes as long as it’s Christmas. Here is my card:

This card is completely outside of my comfort zone….I have been so loving the kits and packets of die-cut Christmas ephemera from Craft Box UK and 14 Craft Bar – that I bought them without knowing what the heck I was going to do with them!

I don’t use ephemera like this, I don’t know what to layer with what – but I had a good time making this card. I just dumped the three packets in front of me and played. I actually made three cards – but this one I particularly like with the deer and her baby.

The wood effect behind the deer is actually part of the packaging for one set – I liked the neutral distressed look to highlight the two deer – and then the sentiment and branches and mistletoe and pine cones – I just had fun placing them.

I hope you can come and join us for this challenge. I can’t see to see what you create. xx
