‘H’ for Hungry

Hi there. A new challenge is beginning at The Alphabet Challenge. We have reached the letter ‘H‘ – and we want to see Hungry – feature your favourite food. It doesn’t have to be the healthy option either – a good thing as my card features anything but healthy food:

This is a Clearly Besotted I ‘found’ again when adding stash to the Color My Life app. I am more of a savoury than a sweet kinda gal, and I couldn’t decide which is my favourite – so I used them all – virtually!

I used some Kraft card-stock, and just stamped away to create my own background of savoury deliciousness……there are burgers, fries – chips to the UK people – chicken, pizza – all sorts of goodies here in this Clearly Besotted stamp set.

For the gaps I used a combination of stamps from several stamp sets – the hearts, the ‘XO’ – trying to be careful not to stamp ‘OX’ very often! :)

There are three little lines which are actually the radiating lines from a lighthouse stamp set – just to cover the gaps.

I did toy with the idea of colouring the images – but as you can see I left them as they are – and I think more effective because of that.

The sentiment is from the same Clearly Besotted stamp set.

I hope you can come and join us – I’d love to see what you are ‘Hungry’ for and what your favourite food is – or a collection of your favourite foods. xx

Big Gnome Hugs

Hello there. I have a card to share with colouring, and die-cutting – and even stamping:

I used two gnomes from Simon Says Stamp ‘Spring Gnomes‘, stamped in Gina K amalgam ink, coloured with Copics, then used the matching die set to cut them out. White gel pen dots were added for extra interest.

As one of the gnomes is holding a bird, I then stamped two little birds from Altenew ‘Under The Cherry Blossom‘ stamp set in green, adding some shading with a green Copic.

The white cover panel is from Catherine Pooler – three layers of white, then black on top for extra dimension.

All items placed as you see, with the extra little green birds dotted around.

Gnome For The Holidays

Hello. There is a new challenge beginning at ABC Christmas Challenge. We have reached the letters ‘N’ and ‘O‘. We want to see your Christmas creations with ‘No Fuss‘ and/or ‘Over The Top‘. I chose the ‘No Fuss’ theme. here is my card:

I first stamped the images from Simon SDays Stamp ;Gnome For the Holidays’ in Gin K amalgam ink, then coloured with Copics.

Once cut out with the matching die set, I arranged them as you see – though I did play around with the layout quite a bit. I’ve said before how I find arranging CAS layouts quite challenging.

We have some great makes from the Design Team, and I do hope you can come and join us for this challenge. I ‘d love to see you in our gallery. xx

Christmas Love and Movies

Hi there. A new challenge has begun at ABC Christmas Challenge. The letters this time are ‘L’ and ‘M’ – and we want to see Love and Movies with your Christmas creations. Here are my cards:

‘L’ for Love

‘M’ for Movies:

The first card was quite simple and easy to make, using an MFT Stamps Die-namics and two pieces of patterned paper.

The second card took a little more time, mainly the colouring part of it. I didn’t know what to make for the ‘M’ for Movies part of it, and spent some time searching the tinterweb for Christmas movies…..when I saw the ‘Elf’ movie – though I haven’t seen it – I remembered this stamp set from MFT.

The image was stamped with Gina K Amalgam ink and coloured with Copics, then die-cut with MFT ‘Wonky Squares‘.

I have no idea where the patterned paper came from but I felt the colours and theme matched the little elfies, and the sentiment is from the same stamp set.

I hope you can join us and I look forward to seeing your creations in our gallery. xx

Stuffed Stockings

Hello there. There is a new challenge beginning at The Holly and Ivy Christmas Challenge. The theme is always anything goes as long as it’s Christmas related. Here is my card:

I used the Concord & 9th ‘Stocking Stuffers’ stamp and die set. The stockings and ‘stuffing’ bits were stamped with Gina K Amalgam ink and coloured with Copics. After die-cutting with the matching die set, I added a glittery silver cuff to the top of each sock – but didn’t add the heel and toe pieces as I didn’t want to take away from the colours and colouring.

As I used a piece of patterned paper for the background which had some dots – I added some to my images of the stockings, and some ‘Stickles’ glitter to parts of it too.

There were a few stamps and dies in the set which I had no clue what to do with – nor what they were. So I went and consulted the You Tube oracle – and found that there was a die to add the little ‘pull me‘ tag – and that you could also add a sentiment to pull which goes behind a stocking………….well – I had to have a go, didn’t I?

Here is the result:

I am loving this stamp and die set – I can see me using this for more cards. The most time-consuming was the colouring – but I’m getting into that now. I keep trying, I keep playing – and even though colouring is a means to an end – I’m liking it a little more…….!

I do hope you can come and join us for this challenge – get your stash ready for the end of the year. There is some fabulous inspiration from the Design Team – I encourage you to go and check them out. xx

Love Your Inner Monster

Hello once again. I have a CAS card to share today, which includes some fancy masking – for me it was fancy, anyway:

I mentioned previously finding the Tracy Hey Designs web site and the super-dooper cute stamp sets she has. This was another of my purchases, and fits right in with a few challenges I have been trying to create for.

I cut the base layer with some stitched rectangle dies, then stamped my dragon image with Gina K Amalgam ink. I stamped the image again on some masking paper, and set to fussy-cutting……..I don’t like fussy cutting, but when I knew I wanted to do some masking – you have to do what is required, don’t you?

So – this image – triangle spine thingies, star horn thingies………………not the most straight-forward I have cut out….but I must admit it was worth it….

Once masked – before I coloured just in case I messed it up – I found a circle stencil, and inked Distress Oxide through the stencil – And I just love when you reveal…….looks messy until you peel everything back, doesn’t it?

As I was happy with the masking and blending, I took some Copics and coloured as per the colours for one of the challenges – just a couple of the greens, and one yellow – simple. Then I took my colour-less blender and dotted it around the dragon – to try to give an impression of scaly skin. Do you think it worked?

So – the sentiment – on the same stamp set! I know – how fabulous is this sentiment? Love it – and there are more on that set I can’t wait to get working with.

Why a dragon I hear you ask……well, I was born in the year of the Dragon – so that could be 1916, 1928, 1940, 1952, 1964, 1976, 1988, 2000 – or even 2012 – but I’m not telling!!!!

In fact – when I post to my Instagram – I’ll have a cheeky little quiz and pressie for a few people…..maybe you want to go and check it out…….

Apparently, the dragon is the only imaginary animal in the Chinese zodiac too……..and something about being hot-headed…..hmmm…..maybe!

I have a CAS card to share today using a newly purchased stamp set from Funky Fossil Designs:

This also turned out to be a one-layer card…………

Once the image and sentiment was stamped with Gina K amalgam ink, I coloured with the three colours from the JUGS challenge. As it is one layer, I couldn’t do much shading – in fact none at all. I knew these Copics would bleed onto the back of the page – so I took it very gently, and not hanging around with the Copic too much.

CAS flowers and a penguin

Hello there. Unless I’m going to work or shopping, I am spending a lot of time crafting, or in the garden – we are having unseasonably warm weather here in the UK at the moment – so I’m enjoying it whilst I can.

I have a couple of CAS cards to share today.

Here is the first card:

I used a Simon Says Stamp die set – aptly named ‘Look for the Miracles’ – die cut the set in white card, then coloured with Copics. The sentiment is from the Altenew ‘Regal Beauty’ stamp set and I;m liking the different fonts in the sentimet.

This is the second card:

This time I used a Clearly Besotted stamp set for the cute penguin and kite – stamping in Gina K Amalgam ink, then colouring with Copics. The square die is from Lawn Fawn, and the sentiment is from the same Clearly Besotted.

I shall be entering the first card into the following challenges:

Cute Little Duckies

Hello again. I have a card to share as there is anew challenge beginning at Cardz 4 Galz. The theme this time is………..’Cute Animals’.…….

Here is my card:

I wanted to use this stamp set, and I wanted to create a scene. A scene is not something I generally have much luck with, but I’m happy with this one – it’s quite simple, a few layers, and a little ink blending and water splattering.

After stamping the images in Gina K Amalgam ink, I coloured with Copics, before using the matching dies to cut them out. here are the Copics I used:

I have found it helpful when people post a list of colours, so I thought I’d do it too.

I first ink blended a panel using two Distress Oxides for the sky, then used the Lawn Fawn Stitched Cloudy Backdrop, as I like the stitched clouds effect. I used some green card, used Lawn Fawn grass dies, added a little green Distress Oxides to the grassy edges, and stuck them down as you see.

I wasn’t going to put a sentiment on the card, but a little simple ‘Hello‘ from an Altenew stamp set in the top corner still meant this card could be for any reason – or for no reason at all.

I hope you can come and join us – I’d love to see you in our gallery with your ‘Cute Animals’ creations. xx

Happy Holidays

Hello there. There is a new challenge starting at The Holly and Ivy Christmas Challenge. The theme is – anything goes Christmas.

Here is my card:

I didn’t have much time to prepare this card, so I am pleased it came together quite quickly.

I began by stamping the branch image from a freebie stamp set several times onto a piece of Make It Colour Blending Card, and coloured the small leaves with three green Copics. The sentiment is from the same stamp set.

I was going to add it to the card base as it was, but decided it looked a little too plain, so I added the red strip down the side, and then went ahead and added some Tonic Nuvo drops – and added more of them, then more of them. I really, really, really, need to know when to stop adding those……….but I do like the little bit of added dimension and colour they give.

I hope you can come and join us in our challenge, and I look forward to seeing your creations in our gallery. xx
