Let’s Have A Brew

I’d like to share a card using some new products from Time For Tea Designs here in the UK:

I die cut the scalloped slimline using Mama Elephant dies, and used the white inner to create a cloudy background and grassy base using a Simon Says Stamp stencil. The stencil comes with a flower part too – but I just ink blended the grassy part. I ink blended the clouds darker at the top, and lighter towards the grass.

I then stamped the images, coloured with Copics, and used the matching dies to cut them out – some white gel pen to add interest to the cup.

The sentiment is from the same stamp set,. but I cut it out using a speech bubble die – I think that’s Mama Elephant too but not sure.

The scallop and cloudy piece were stuck down with glue, the panda, the sugar cubes, and the speech bubble were raised with 3D foam.

I found some little sticky hearts in my stash which matched the green and blue, and also attached some small silver gems with them.

Christmas Words

Hello once again. ABC Christmas Challenge has started a new challenge using the letters ‘U’ and ‘V’. The host is Julie, and the themes using these letters are ‘Under the tree‘ and ‘Vocabulary‘ (use words). Here is my card:

Having bought this cover die for attending the recent Hero Arts Stamp-along, and having used the outside areas for the shaker card we made, I used the letters which were die cut to create this card.

I sprayed them with a Tim Holtz Mica Spray, and whilst I was being messy, I also sprayed a separate piece of card with the green mica spray too.

Once those letters had dried, I stacked them three times with white card stock. and when the green layer was dry I used a slimline die from Mama Elephant to create the scalloped frame.

The letters were added as you see. The scallop frame is raised using 3D foam strips, so I added the letters to get the same height all round, as they didn’t quite fit into the frame – but I wanted it to work so I just got on with it, and some part of the letters on the edge were glued directly onto the frame.

I’m loving playing with these mica sprays – loving it. They are so shiny and vibrant – you will definitely see more makes using these.

I hope you can come and join us with your Christmas makes following our two themes.

Christmas With A Bang…

Hello once again. There is a new challenge at The Holly and Ivy Christmas Challenge – as always the theme is anything goes Christmas/festive. here is my card:

I seem to be addicted to interactive cards…….

For this card I stamped the cat images, coloured them with Copics, then used my scan-n-cut to cut them out. Yep – I’m getting the hang of doing that, if I do say so myself!

I wanted the middle of the card to be opened and the little mouse and sweets/confetti be hidden there, so I did a little partial die-cutting with one of the shapes in the Mama Elephant die set to create the flap.

The purple layer was raised using 3D foam, then I realised the flap kinda dipped down and was difficult to open, so I had to get further creative and make a flap thingy…….

I then added some hats to the two cats, stamped the sentiment – before sticking that layer down this time! I must keep remembering to do that – one mistake I seem to make very often.

I hope you can come and join us in our Christmas Challenge – anything goes remember……. x

Never Far apart…..

I new challenge is starting at The Alphabet Challenge, Having reached the letter ‘T’, Veronika has chosen the theme of ‘TRAFFIC’. I struggled a little with this theme, but eventually came up with this card:

I knew I wanted a few cars, and I knew I wanted that sentiment, but it took me quite a while to figure out what I was doing. I didn’t have appropriate car stamps or dies, so I used some ingenuity……

I used the ‘Destination Christmas‘ stamp and die set from Newton’s Nook……….I put the images on my Misti, masked the top of the cars where there are Christmas Trees and presents, stamped, then drew in the lines with a fine liner…………I was quite pleased with how they turned out.

Once coloured with Copics, and die cut with the matching dies, I fussy-cut the top to get the cars the way I wanted them.

Now for the background scene – Mama Elephant cloud die from their ‘Slim Card Basics‘ die set, and the Lawn Fawn ‘Road Border‘ cut twice to get the tarmac and then the grass verge. I did think about cutting a proper grassy verge – but the rest of the card is quite ‘clean’, so I kept it as you see.

The blue background is a textured light blue, almost a leathery texture, which I felt quite fit having as a sky.

And this time I remembered to stamp the sentiment before putting the card together!

I hope you can come and join us with your ‘Traffic’ creations – I look forward to seeing you in our gallery. xx

A Mice Time To Party

Hello everyone. The Alphabet Challenge is celebrating 10 years of challenges – 10 years!!!!! I’m a veritable new-comer to this challenge – only being around on the DT since August 2019 – but I’m certainly in the mood for celebrating.

As we have reached the letter ‘P’, we want to see your ‘Party’ themed creations. Here is my card:

I seem to be stuck in the slim line, die-cutting, Copic colouring, scene creating genre – but I do like creating these types of cards. There is so much room to play with.

Using MFT ‘It’s A Mice Time’ stamps and matching dies, coloured in Copics – I knew I wanted to use ALL the images from this set – I then turned to creating the scene. I used a lot of die-sets from Mama Elephant and Lawn Fawn – and it took me quite a while to figure things out – but here we have it.

I am quite pleased with the end product – a joyful celebration to be had.

Hopefully, at some time in the near future we can all celebrate together – fingers crossed!

Come along and celebrate with us – there’s a lot of party themed creations from the Design team – I look forward to seeing what you create in our gallery. xx

Let’s Hang Out…..

Hello there. A new challenge is beginning at The Alphabet Challenge. We have reached the letter ‘M’ and Meg has chosen the theme of anything beginning with the letter ‘M’ – here is my card:

I think my ‘M’ is quite obvious – using these Clearly Besotted Monkeys on my slimline card.

The monkeys themselves were stamped with Gina K amalgam ink, then coloured with Copics. I knew I wanted a three window slimline card – so I could get as many og these little monkeys in at once, and then turned to thinking about the background of those circles.

I thought about ink blending, then remembered this scene stamp – also from Clearly Besotted, so I stamped it twice, then coloured with Copics, then die-cutting with a stitched circle in a different area of each scene I had stamped for some variety behind each monkey.

The third circle is using a branch from the same stamp set so I could have the monkey swinging from it, again coloured with Copics.

The sentiment is from the same stamp set – using some stamp surgery to cut it apart – something I actually don’t have a problem with – though the first few times I did that I was a little nervous – not any more!

I hope you can come and join us with your ‘M’ themed creations, and I look forward to seeing you in our gallery. xx

You’re The Cat’s Meow

Hello and welcome once again. I have a card to share today which turned out to be made largely from Mama Elephant products. This wasn’t planned at all – it was just the way my mind went when designing the card:

The theme started off from the current challenge at CASology – the prompt word being ‘BALL’. I put that into the Color My Life app and it came up with lots of balloons in my stash – and a few stamp sets which had cats/kittens with balls of wool.

Of those three, I chose the Mama Elephant stamp set ‘My Pet Kitties‘, stamped a couple of the images in Gina K Amalgam ink onto a scrap piece of Concord & 9th white card (from a previous make).

I coloured the kitties in Copics – the warm greys (and this card stock loves Copics – very easy) with a touch of peach to the ears, an aqua Copic for the wool balls – following the current colours at Color Throwdown – and then used the matching dies to cut them out.

I was going to go with a ‘normal’ card layout, but I have several of the slimline die sets so I went with that. I first looked on the Mama Elephant web site to get the dimensions for a slimline card, especially as I was using their dies to create one.

The base card is Neenah card, the Kraft layer is cut using Mama Elephant ‘Slim Card Basics‘, as is the white layer and the three windows.

Instead of ink blending the windows, I used another Mama Elephant die set – ‘Slim Window Dressing‘ – which had grass and cloud dies so I used an aqua and Kraft card for those two layers in each window.

The sentiment is from C.C. Designs ‘Cutie Cats‘ – one of the other stamp sets I was going to use – and then all put together with foam pads and glue as you see.

I added a couple of little butterflies – just because I could………

Even though this has a few layers to it, I still think it’s CAS enough for the CASology Challenge – but I am sure the DT there will let me know if it’s a problem – I still had fun thinking about a card for their current theme – it has taken me days and days…….
