Cardz 4 Galz New Year or New Stash

Hello there. Cardz 4 Galz has started a new challenge. This time the theme chosen by Helen is ‘New Year or New Stash‘. Here is my card:

This card was created using a new stencil from Pinkfresh Studio – a layering stencil – which I’m finding I enjoy using………as long as I keep everything today and don’t get any ink smudges – which happens quite a lot…..

I also used the hint and tip from a few YouTube videos about using the Misti to line the stencil up and keep everything straight – worked very well for me. No longer did I have to tape each layer down – just used the Misti magnets and kept moving them around. I did notice that it worked best when the stamping mat was removed first – some more of the edge to keep the papers and stencils straight.

I used Distress Inks for the stenciling and then die cut that piece to fit the inside of an A2 card base:

I had a plan in mind – but it took me quite a while to figure it out….

The front panel was cut using a hillside border, and that top part embossed using an Altenew debossing panel. I then added some acetate at the back, to hopefully create a window.

The part that was cut from the front panel was cut to size – leaving the ‘window’ in the middle – stamped with an MFT sentiment, and attached to the bottom of the acetate.

The back of this front panel looked a little ragged – sticky showing through the acetate – so I managed to create two backing panels the same as the front to hide all the mess. Some red dots added for some more colour and interest on the front.

I hope you can come and join us – I look forward to seeing you in our gallery.

Tulip Birthday

Hello there. There is anew challenge beginning at The Alphabet Challenge. The letter has gone all the way down to the letter ‘W’, and Meg is hosting and has chosen ‘Anything you WISH‘.

I decided to go a new Altnew Build-a-flower stamp and die set I haven’t used yet:

It is my sister-in-law’s birthday soon, and I thought I’d get prepared.

I began by stamping the flowers from this set in a selection of colours, initially planning on making several cards.

When I started putting down the pink flowers and the green leaves and foliage – I thought the card looked a little empty, and initially thought of an ink blending or stencil and paste – but decided to go with the Altenew ‘Dotted Swirls’ debossing die – just a little more detail added to the back of the flowers.

I added the additional purple and blue flower as you see, for even more colour. The pink flowers are stuck down using 3D gel so I could move them around if I needed, and could tuck the foliage and leaves underneath.

The sentiment is also from Altenew, and I think there’s a little fault in the ‘y’ of happy – but I decided it was fine to go with it, and then die cut with the Heffy Doodle ‘More Strips of Ease‘.

I hope you can come and join us for this challenge – make anything you wish. It couldn’t be simpler, could it? I look forward to seeing what you create. xx

The Flower Challenge flower and add leaves

You are amazing – remember that…..

Hello there. I have another card to share, using the Altenew ‘Rosy Outlook’ stamp and die set:

I stamped the flowers using Altenew inks, but for the fourth layer of the large rose I heat embossed in gold. The leaves I stamped the first two layers in green, then heat embossed the third layer in gold too.

The sentiment is from a Stampin Up stamp set, again heat embossed in gold, then doing a little juggling and partial die-cutting, I managed to cut the length to size, adding a little ‘flag’ ending to it.

I used Altenew ‘Dotted Swirls Debossing cover die’ for the background, layered with some black card stock – and there we have it.

Blue Antique Roses

Hello there. The builders have gone and I made a card for the both of them – who says a man can’t have a card with flowers on? Not me!

I used the Altenew ‘Antique Roses‘ again – love, love, love them flowers, and I mentioned in a previous post ‘Grey Antique Roses’ that roses are my favourite flowers:

The leaves stamped in the Gentleman Grey inks, and added the background of the Altenew ‘Dotted Swirls Debossing Cover Die‘ for some subtle interest. The sentiment is also Altenew from another stamp set.

I took this photo against one of our flower troughs – I liked the contrast of the flower colours, and here is one without:

Ornate Flowers

Hello everyone. It’s a gorgeous sunny day here in Derbyshire UK – a lot of sun, warm, a little breeze – lovely. I have a soft and gentle card to share today:

I began by heat embossing the flower outlines from Altenew Ornate Foliage stamp set onto water-colour card, wet the images, then sprayed Tonic Nuvo Mica Mist quite liberally onto the images, and let it do it’s thing…..with maybe a little gentle coaxing from my brush, then let it dry.

A picture of the shimmer:

The background is the Altenew Dotted Swirls Debossing Cover Die, splashed with Winsor and Newton ebony paint, then let it dry, whilst I stamped the sentiment.

I then placed all together as you see, having the images slightly overlap the sentiment strip, and even cutting into the bottom image a little to enable me to do that.

I then added some Tonic Crystal Drops in ebony in three sets of three – then let it all dry.

If you know me and my posts from before – you know I don’t like waiting for things to dry – which is why I did the flowers yesterday – but the splashes and drops are actually drying as I make this post – I’m very impatient!
