Tender Leaves

Hello once again. I have created two cards whilst playing in my craft room today:

The first was the original idea I had, and the second was made using the same colour scheme and dies – just a different look.

For the first card, I used a Kraft card base, and layered a Lawn Fawn ‘Quilted Backdrop’ layer in cream card, a panel of textured cream card, a frame out of Kraft card – both die cut using stitched rectangles – and then added the blue Simon Says Stamp ‘Tender Leaves‘ dies. Some blue sequins added for decoration.

For the second card, a white card base, then created a larger frame with some stitched rectangles, and added the cream textured card behind that window. The same leaves were die cut from blue and Kraft – layering slightly off-set. The sentiment is from Altenew, stamped onto cream card, and two Kraft borders added – as well as some blue sequins.

I shall be entering the following challenges:

‘X’ for Xanthic

Hello there. The Alphabet Challenge has started a new challenge. Veronica is hosting this time round. I must say I had no clue what ‘Xanthic‘ meant initially – but it means ‘relating to yellow’. So – here is my card:

Here I played with ink smooshed card stock in yellow and green – inking, smooshing, splattering – all to have some fun and play.

Once those pieces had dried, I used the Honey Bee Stamps ‘Lovely Layers: Sunflower’ die set to cut out the leaves – layering several of the sunflower petals together – even cutting into the leaves a little for more movement and dimension.

The background is a stitched diagonal cover plater from Reverse Confetti, and the sentiment is from Altenew.

Some sequins added for something extra.

The Design team have a very varied take on the ‘Xanthic’ theme – it would be great if you were to check them out – and hopefully we’ll see you in our gallery. xx

Heartfelt Thanks

Hello. A CAS card to share today – which actually took a little longer to create than I initially thought it would:

I used a ragged looking heart die from the Concord & 9th ‘Geode’ die set – I have a few other heart dies but this jut spoke – me……..slightly uneven, and slightly ragged-looking.

Once the position on the rectangular panel was determined and then die-cut, I placed an alcohol ink background panel behind the opening, and then stamped the sentiment.

This was then layered onto a white card base using 3D foam.

Seems quite simple – but the position of the heart, the size of the alcohol ink panel – that took a few decisions and changes of decisions – goodness knows why – but it did…….maybe the hardest decisions on a CAS card is placement – it is for me, anyway.

A simple heartfelt thanks is what the message is with this card – another one for noteworthy friends for helping me the past few weeks…….

White and Cream

Hi once again. I have a couple of cards to share today:

I used some slightly textured cream card from my stash as a layer, then die cut three leaf images out of white card stock and stuck them down as you see. Simple but effective, I feel………

I am currently trying to make support and encouraging cards, so I can give them out rather than having them around the house. I’m particularly liking this sentiment – support more than encouraging – but I think is quite perfect for quite a few people and circumstances at the moment.

I liked how the cream and white looked together, and would never have thought of pairing these two – so I made another card.

This one has a heat embossed white element. I actually heat embossed it with extra thick embossing powder – but for some reason it didn’t want to stick to this little die cut – so I used detail white embossing powder – again, and again, and again…………I think I heat embossed it about 5 times to try and get a double thick and smooth layer….

Purple and Grey Daffodils

Hi there. I have a couple of cards to share today – both made with the same stamp set – yet completely different looks:

I used the Altenew ‘Build-a-flower Daffodils‘ stamp set, but this time went for purple daffodils. I know – artistic licence anyone?

For the first purple card, I stamped the outline, then the darker two layers in purple – I didn’t stamp the base colour layer. The leaves are from another Altnew stamp set – I wanted two layer leaves, and not daffodil stems, as I knew I wanted to create a whole bunch of flowers bunched together.

Once stamped and die cut with the matching dies, I arranged as you see.

The second card is where I stamped the outline of the daffodils, and one of the detail layers to create a background, with a couple of the little daffodil centres stamped to fill any gaps – all in shades of grey. The sentiment is also from Altenew – white heat embossed on a black strip.

Hi there. Another CAS card design for today:

I tried to capture the shimmer and shine on the leaves, and the Lumi spray.

I took a black piece of card and stenciled some leaves using Indigo Blu ‘thick slap-it-on’ and let it dry.

I then sprayed – using short and sharp sprays, and then some longer finer mist spray – to try and get some variation in the drips and drops. The ‘slap-it-on’ resisted the spray – for the most part – leaving a black silhouette of the leaves.

Whilst this was drying, I used the Reverse Confetti cover panel to create the window, and taped the square black and green image underneath – adding the whole to a white card base.

Just Because Cottontail Cutie

Hello once again. I have created a card to share as I am currently making cards to give to people I meet at work, or when shopping, just to say ‘hello’, or ‘just because’ – to try and spread some good cheer.

I used the MFT ‘Cottontail Cutie’ die set, as I haven’t played with that for a while, and the colours from the current challenge at Color Throwdown.

The grey card has an almost silver sheen to it, and I think adds a little texture to the bunny. The pink areas are cut from a pink foam I just happened to have lying around…..adding some brightness and even more dimension.

I used the Lawn Fawn ‘Simple Grassy Hillsides’ as you see, and the sentiment is white heat embossed.

Be a Unicorn

Hello there. I have a cute card to share today using a new die from Waffle Flower:

I knew I wanted to play with this die as soon as it arrived, and took the opportunity to use the current colours at Color Throwdown.

I die cut the unicorn, then added some Spectrum Noir purple sparkle as you see. Whilst that purple was drying, I turned to the background.

I used Distress Oxide ‘Mowed Lawn‘ and blended using my blending brushes, adding some Gansai Tambi green sparkle splatters – it’s all about the sparkle on this card.

I created a frame in grey card stock by using some rectangle dies and adhered this to the green layer. The sentiment is stamped using grey ink, placed as you see, and the unicorn sat on top of the sentiment strip.

I did take some warm grey Copics and tried to add some shading to the edge of the unicorn – not sure I like it, might have been better left alone – but there we are.

I glued the unicorn to the green layer, making sure the arms and the wings were free, and added some Tonic Nuvo drops in ‘mercury‘ for the eyes and nostrils, slotting the purple glittery present in the hands.

I think I’ll be playing with this die some more, using perhaps rainbow colours – of course the glittery rainbow colours, and I’m sure you’ll be seeing that here.

Tulip Birthday

Hello there. There is anew challenge beginning at The Alphabet Challenge. The letter has gone all the way down to the letter ‘W’, and Meg is hosting and has chosen ‘Anything you WISH‘.

I decided to go a new Altnew Build-a-flower stamp and die set I haven’t used yet:

It is my sister-in-law’s birthday soon, and I thought I’d get prepared.

I began by stamping the flowers from this set in a selection of colours, initially planning on making several cards.

When I started putting down the pink flowers and the green leaves and foliage – I thought the card looked a little empty, and initially thought of an ink blending or stencil and paste – but decided to go with the Altenew ‘Dotted Swirls’ debossing die – just a little more detail added to the back of the flowers.

I added the additional purple and blue flower as you see, for even more colour. The pink flowers are stuck down using 3D gel so I could move them around if I needed, and could tuck the foliage and leaves underneath.

The sentiment is also from Altenew, and I think there’s a little fault in the ‘y’ of happy – but I decided it was fine to go with it, and then die cut with the Heffy Doodle ‘More Strips of Ease‘.

I hope you can come and join us for this challenge – make anything you wish. It couldn’t be simpler, could it? I look forward to seeing what you create. xx
