Mice Baking and Tree Decorating

Hello there. Cardz 4 Galz has started another challenge. The theme chosen by Shell is for you to create a card with Christmas Animals. Here is my card:

I used mainly Lawn Fawn products for this slimline card. The base and three heart cut-outs are from one die set, and the hearts backed by Lawn Fawn patterned paper.

The images were stamped, coloured with Copics, then die cut, and arranged as you see. Some glossy accents added to the tree baubles and holly berries, and glitter added to the pudding and gingerbread house.

I really like how this turned out – putting all the images together to create three scenes, which actually work together to create one large scene too.

I hope you can come and join us in this challenge.

Cardz 4 Galz ‘Snow time’

Cardz 4 Galz has started a new challenge, and the theme chosen by Caz is ‘It’s Snow Time’. Here is my card:

I went completely outside my comfort zone to have a go at this technique. I have been seeing it for years – tried it a couple of times – but this time I wanted to try and get it done correctly. I am pleased with the result – but it did take a lot of planning, and masking, and decisions!

I began with a piece of Bristol Smooth card stock, then placed the Card-io Bauble stencil onto it. I stamped the little scene at the top with Distress Oxide ‘Weathered Wood‘, then placed the fence and animals where I thought they could sit.

I then tore some paper and ink blended the same Distress Ink to create some hills underneath the animals. I added some of the same DI around the edge of the bauble – then also decided to add some Lawn Fawn Prisma Glitter – well – why wouldn’t you?

Most of the cards like this are created using a black ink, but I wanted a more muted silhouette – and I think it works.

I hope you can come and join us for this challenge – I look forward to seeing your creations. xx

ABC Christmas Challenge – Y and Z

Hello. ABC Christmas Challenge has started their last challenge for this year. Having reached the letters ‘Y‘ and ‘Z‘ we want to see your Christmas creations using the theme of ‘Yummy’ and ‘Zigzags’. Here is my card:

I chose to go with the zigzag theme – as you can probably tell – and used the Altenew ‘Pattern Play: Hexagon’ stamp set to create my zigzags. I stamped in black the clear heat embossed the lines onto watercolour card stock, then used a couple of Distress Inks to water colour the zigzags.

I went with a couple of less traditional colours, but I like the effect this created.

I then used a Simon Says Stamp/CZ Design set for the sentiments – heat embossing in gold the outline for the ‘jingle‘ words in a bronze colour. I then used some glue to fill-in the larger words, and added Lawn Fawn Prisma Glitter.

I felt the background was a little too bold for the words, so I added a small piece of vellum and stamped the smaller sentiment towards the bottom of that piece.

I hope you can come and join us for this challenge – please follow the themes to be in with a chance of winning the prize offered up by Samantha, who is hosting this challenge. xx

Rockin’ Holidays

Hello there. A new challenge has started at Cardz 4 Galz, and this time the theme is ‘Christmas In July’. Here is my card:

The background with gold foil stars was created using Thermoweb Duo Gel, a star stencil, and then running through my die-cutting machine with Decofoil.

I used the Lawn Fawn backdrop for the white, and then die-cut the blue foiled star panel to get the evening sky. The hills were glittered using Lawn Fawn Prisma Glitter.

The trees and gnome are from Spellbinders, a little Copic shading on the tree stumps, and the trees themselves cut out of Lawn Fawn paper with little dots on – just to mimic some snow…….maybe…..and the edges of the tree layers die cut out of some white glitter card.

The gnome – now his legs move – rocking from side-to-side:

It was quite fun creating this little scene – I did have to watch a couple of videos on how to piece the gnome together – so many little pieces. I usually don’t like little fiddly die-cutting and assembling – but this was fun.

I hope you can come and join us with your creations matching our current them – I look forward to seeing what you create. xx

Snowman and Santa

Hello. The ABC Christmas Challenge has reached the letters ‘N’ and ‘O’ and the themes for each letter are:

N’ for North Pole, ‘O’ for Off To One Side

Here are my cards:

‘N’ for North Pole

‘O’ for Off To The Side

The North Pole card is using a stamp set from Taylored Expressions, a little masking, and then coloured with Copics. I used some small snowflake stamps for the sky and Concord & 9th ink, adding some little spots of glitter, and then Lawn fawn Prisma Glitter.

The second card is using a stamp set from Newtons Nook, stamped, coloured with Arteza watercolour brushes, then die cut. The sky is using a stencil from MFT which was not slimline, but I made it work, and ink blending.

The snow bank is using Lawn Fawn slimline dies – and more glitter!

I was inspired to make cards for both the themes this time round – that’s what happens when you have not been able to craft for a few weeks – overflow of ideas…..

I hope you can come and join us with your Christmas/Festive makes following our two specific themes. xx
