Latte Catch-up

Hi there. The new challenge just beginning at Cardz 4 Galz has the theme of ‘Cocktails, Wine, or Coffee’.

Here is my card:

This image from MFT is one that was part of a grab-bag from Seven Hills Crafts. I usually wouldn’t have bought an image like this, but in the current situation of not being able to meet anyone – I thought it most appropriate.

Once I had stamped the image, and then coloured with Copics, I used my Scan-n-cut to cut it out – braveness ensued after I had coloured it – then added some white gel pen for highlights.

Turning my thoughts to the background, I used Altenew ‘Cozy Flannel Cover Die‘ and a base colour using some textured olive green card-stock – I think from a Tim Holtz paper pad I’ve had for yonks!

The sentiment is from the same stamp set – loving the font of this…..

I hope you can come and join us for this challenge, it would be fabulous to see your creations which match our theme. Please bear in mind our theme…………….there have been quite a few recent entries which don’t fit the bill…………..

I shall be entering the following challenges:

Glittery Pink Fox

Hi there. There is a new challenge beginning at Cardz 4 Galz and the theme this time is ‘Fox – foxy ladies, or foxes – your choice‘. I took the opportunity to go all out and pink and glittery. Who wants to see a pink fox? Here we are:

So – a lot of products were used in this card, from lots of different companies…..so I’ll begin….

Crafters Companion sentiment. I masked each part of the sentiment to stamp – instead of cutting the stamp apart, with the word ‘fabulous’ embossed with glitter pink embossing powder from WOW!; Pink glimmer card from Stampin Up; Altenew Cozy Flannel Cover Die; Waffle Flower ‘Be Her’ stamp and die set, Copic colouring.

Phew – I don’t I missed anything out…….let me know if you think I have!

Anyhoo – I am sure we don’t Prosecco to get fabulous – but it certainly helps increase our fabulous-ness………..(a new word!)……and this little fox looks like she is quite stern and precise…….

So – an awesome theme for the challenge and so many ways to take the word ‘fox’ and ‘foxy’. I look forward to seeing what you create and dropping you a comment – or two!

🙂 🙂

Floral selection

Hello again. I have a few cards to share today. I decide to move away from the die-cutting, and fancied a lot of stamping. Of course, there was some die-cutting too – but not too much. This first card is for the current challenge at CAS Colours and Sketches:20190407_161840The challenge was to use the colours Grapefruit Grove, Granny Apple Green, and Gorgeous Grape. I don’t have those Stampin Up colours, so I used some Altenew inks.

The background is the Lawn Fawn ‘Fancy Lattice Backdrop’, and the stamp set is Altenew ‘Bloom and Bud’. I went with a grey base card, to showcase and highlight the colours a little more.

Now, I liked this flower and bud with a backdrop so much, – I did more cards. I just couldn’t stop myself. I took several backdrop dies –  Lawn Fawn, Altenew, Catherine Pooler, and die cut them. Then I turned to my little stash box of coloured/stamped images to find some flowers and leaves, and created a variety of cards.

Here is the little stash I played with whilst thinking of more cards:

Of course – I didn’t use my Santa’s on these cards!

And my little ‘helpers’………!

One thing I have done recently – I haven’t put a sentiment on some cards I make. I take my cards into work for my colleagues, and sometimes they like the card, but want a different sentiment – so I can always add one, or they juts have the card and put their own sentiment etc on the inside.

If I think a card is really crying out for a particular sentiment, then I will add one – or if a challenge I am entering states a sentiment – but sometimes I leave it off. Does anyone have any comment to make about that? I would be interested in your views……….. 🙂

Orange Wild rose

Hello again everyone. I have spent a lot of time in my craft room today, as an escape and a ‘take your mind off’ kinda day. I mentioned I had a poorly cat a couple of weeks ago – Spike – well overnight I took him to the vets, and had to make the decision to let him go. 😦

He has been with us for almost 15 years, a humongous black cat, but the time was right. We lost his brother last year, after a short illness, so at least we can put them both together when we get dear Spike back. We do have two other cats, which we bought to keep Spike company last year, so they are getting really, really spoiled today!

Crafting for me has always been a release, an escape, and a time for me to relax and concentrate on what I am doing at that point. I use crafting as a stress reliever, and sometimes just going and splashing some water-colour down on some card, colouring a little small image, adding some double-sided sticky sheet to some card ready for when I might need it again, is all it takes.

These cards are made using Brusho crystals on water-colour card, and die cutting the Altenew ‘3D Wild Rose‘ die set – once it had dried, of course:

Before I stuck the layers together, I splashed a little Winsor and Newton black water-colour onto them. I have splashed in the past, but this time I wanted actual ‘blackness’, not too watered-down. I also added some black Nuvo drops too.

The background is the Altnew ‘Cozy Flannel Cover Die‘, removing the larger white squares, but leaving the smaller pieces in the die cut. This was a little easier than thought it was going to be…….

The sentiment is also from an Altenew stamp set, and kept on a plain white strip so it doesn’t take away from the rose and leaves too much.

Here are the other versions:

and two waiting for me to add a sentiment:

I shall be entering one of these cards into the following challenges:

Wreath and bells

Hello everyone. I have spent some time crafting this weekend and making some Christmas cards ready for charity. Also – of course – having some fun…..

20181020_20374320181020_20375020181020_203725

This card was inspired by the current challenge at Color Throwdown – to use Green, Kraft, and white.

It turned out to be a completely Altenew card – except for the sentiment – using an older stamp and die set, and a couple of new ones.

I used Altenew inks, and changed the greens a little for the second card. I didn’t add all the detail to the bells, quite liking the simplicity of them as they are. I was toying with letting the bells dangle on some string or such like, but added them as you see instead.

The sentiment is from a new stamp set I have yet to play with from Clearly Besotted ‘Hang Around‘ and has baubles and bows. I thought the French sentiment suited the card for some reason – so I went with it.

I have decided that I will be making several of each Christmas card ready for the charity event, I’m probably going to stick with the more clean and simple card. I say that a lot – then go and make things a little more complicated.

Anyway – it’s all about enjoying yourself, isn’t it?

Have a great day – catch you later. 🙂
