Cardz 4 Galz – Zoo or Safari Animals

Dawn S has chosen the theme for the new Cardz 4 Galz Challenge – Zoo or Safari Animals. Here is my card:

For this card I chose to use patterned paper for the sky and grass – no idea where the paper came from other than in my stash! The grass pattern I cut with scissors to create hills, and used Distress Ink to blend on the edges. I also used the same patterned paper to create some grassy clumps.

The animals from Lawn Fawn ‘Wild For You’ were stamped, Copic coloured, and die cut with matching dies.

I also used some party hats – and of course the lion had to have a crown.

I decided to create the sentiment in a wild manner – haphazard and a weird shape for the word ‘wild’ – I think the craziness works……

Happy Hedgehog Birthday

Hello. I created a bright and cheerful card today using some new products from Clearly Besotted:

The white layer was first stamped using the hedgehog corner on the right side, masked off, and then a row of cacti stamped along the bottom. This row was also masked off, and a circle stencil – die cut out of mylar – used to create the orange sky.

With both stamp masks, and the circle stencil in place, I then used yet another stencil on top of all that, to use a fun little cactus images stencil to blend again for a tone-on-tone effect.

I then coloured the images with Copics, and added white gel pen for some details.

The sentiment was stamped in the same Distress Oxide I blended the sky with and fussy-cut.

White layered onto Kraft, then layered onto a card base.

Long Time No Sea

Happy Little Stampers CAS challenge has started a new CAS theme. This time we want to see you CAS creations themed ‘WATER’. Here is my card:

These Looking Glass dies from Hero Arts still confound me. Despite watching quite a few YouTube videos and using the ‘Alignment Tool’ I can really struggle putting them together.

The background is a patterned paper from my stash, and the middle layer cut with white card stock then coloured using a Copic blue, and of course the top layer die-cut from the card base.

The sentiment is from Heffy Doodle.

There’s a great selection of inspiration from the Design Team – I hope you can come and join us. xx

Cardz 4 Galz – Things With Wings

Hello there I am hosting the new challenge at Cardz 4 Galz. I have chosen the theme ‘Things With Wings’. I chose this theme as I know there are lots and lots of choices here – from birds, to dragons, to fairies – it can be real of fantasy – the choice is yours as long as there are wings.

Here is my card:

I wanted to use this cute duck stamp set from Time For Tea Designs, as I thought they were quirky and fun to use for the valentine’s day card for hubby.

Once the duck images were stamped, coloured, then die cut, I worked on the scene. The additional lily pads and pond grass are from a Sunny Studio stamp set.

The grass was cut from green card stock, and the edges blended with a green Distress Ink, the brown is supposed to represent the ground – die cut using a cloud die – and the edges of the brown card stock slightly inked with another Distress Ink.

The water is a patterned paper from my stash, and cut free-hand.

I used a small off-cut of the pond/water paper to put behind the sentiment to make it stand out a little more.

I hope you can come and join us with your ‘Things With Wings’ themed creations – I look forward to seeing what you come up with. xx

Have a Beary Good Day…..

Hello once again. Happy Little Stampers CAS Challenge has started their challenge for February. The theme this month is ‘inky’ – in a CAS style. Here is my card:

I knew I wanted to create an ink smooshed background – but how to keep it CAS? I decided to use two colours of Distress Inks, and smooshed them onto my craft met. I took a piece of water-colour card, added some water to one corner of it, and dropped in the two colours – drying between each colour. One of the layers must have been slightly wet still, so it created an almost orange or peach colour where they blended – which I quite like.

I then splattered those same two colours onto the piece of card.

Whilst that was drying, I stamped the images from the Time For Tea Designs stamp set, and coloured them with Copics, trying to find colours which were very similar – and throwing in a green one there for a different pop of colour.

After stamping the sentiment, I die cut them with the matching dies, and then decided which part of the inky background I wanted to use, and where, to keep things CAS.

I used a Catherine Pooler die set which I’ve had for ages, and cut the panel quite a bit smaller, then added the bear – some of him off the panel using foam pads, and some directly onto the panel with glue – the same with the sentiment.

The last thing to do was add some white gel pen for detail – which I tend to go over-board with but I believe I restrained myself here. I hope you can come and join us with your CAS ‘Inky’ creations. xx

Nutcracker Christmas

Hello. A little playtime in my craft room created this last minute Christmas card:

The background on this slimlime card is covered with a light green glitter card, then a darker green glitter card over the top using a Catherine Pooler slimline die.

The images from Gerda Steiner Designs were stamped with Gina K Amalgam ink, then coloured with Copics, and then die cut.

All arranged as you see, to create a look like the mice are dancing around the little soldier. I love that one of the mice has her back to us – fits in great with what I wanted to achieve.

Mice Baking and Tree Decorating

Hello there. Cardz 4 Galz has started another challenge. The theme chosen by Shell is for you to create a card with Christmas Animals. Here is my card:

I used mainly Lawn Fawn products for this slimline card. The base and three heart cut-outs are from one die set, and the hearts backed by Lawn Fawn patterned paper.

The images were stamped, coloured with Copics, then die cut, and arranged as you see. Some glossy accents added to the tree baubles and holly berries, and glitter added to the pudding and gingerbread house.

I really like how this turned out – putting all the images together to create three scenes, which actually work together to create one large scene too.

I hope you can come and join us in this challenge.

ABC Challenge – W and X

Hello there. It’s my turn to host the challenge at ABC Christmas Challenge. Having reached the letters ‘W’ and ‘X’ – the Christmas themes we want to see are ‘W for Whimsical‘ – think playful, quaint, amusing – and ‘X’ for Xerox – multiple stamping, multiple images – whatever you think fits with the theme.

Here are my cards:

Whimsical

Xerox

On the first card, I used a Clearly besotted stencil – Trimmed Trees – and inked each different tree with s different colour – masking off the one next to it on the stencil – but also overlapping each tree to create the row of what I think are quite whimsical trees.

I then used a Tim Holtz sentiment stamp, then used a Zig glue pen over all the colours and added some glitter.

For the second card, I stamped one image from the Pretty Pink Posh stamp set multiple times on a Kraft card base with ‘wheat’ ink from Concord & 9th, to create a tone-on-tone look. I then used another of the the images from the same stamp set, coloured them with Copics, die cut them out, and placed them as you see. I also added some glossy accents to the leaves and berries.

The sentiment is from a Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous stamp set, which I stamped, used a stitched rectangle to cut it out, then distressed the edges with the same ‘wheat’ ink to enable it to stand out a little more.

I hope you can come and join us for this challenge – I look forward to seeing you in our gallery. xx

Dinosaur Birthday

Hello there. The Alphabet Challenge has reached the letter ‘O’ , and the theme chosen by Helen is ‘Outdoors’. Here is my take on ‘outdoors’:

I decided to create a scene using Clearly Besotted stamps.

I stamped the background scene first, then stamped it again on some masking paper, masked it off, and ink blended the blue sky. I did consider some splatters and some stars – but decided to leave the blue clear clear.

As this was drying, I stamped and coloured the dinosaurs, and let my Scan-n-cut do it’s work – I’m not a fussy cutter when it comes to images like this, and the scan-n-cut does a great job – if I set it up right and stick down the card properly (my mat is a little less tacky than I would like)!

I then die cut the background panel with a Catherine Pooler die, stuck it down to a card base, stamped the sentiment, and then added my two little creatures.

I hope you are able to join us, it would be great to see what your interpretation of the theme ‘Outdoors’ is….. xx

Remember – You Are A Princess

Hello once again. It’s my turn to host the challenge at Cardz 4 Galz, and I have chosen the theme of ‘Princess’. It is Carrie Fishers birthday today, and as someone who has played my personal princess heroine most of my life – I chose that theme as homage to her. Not Star wars – just Princess. Any Princess. Here is my card:

This image is from Polkadoodles, and after I had downloaded it and played with the size, I printed it onto Neenah 80lbs card stock and coloured with Copics.

I added several layers of card behind to match the colours I had used, and even added some bling with gems – ‘cos a Princess needs gems – always! Never enough gems for a Princess.

I even added some clear sparkle tp her fairy wings.

I’d love to see your Princesses – whether they are with a frog or a Prince – or even just on their lonesome – I look forward to seeing them all. xx
