Christmas Scene

Hello once again. The new challenge at The Holly and Ivy Christmas Challenge has now started. Here is my card:

The back panel is from Pinkfresh Studio, and layered with Spellbinders gold card stock to allow the gold to shine through the edge detail.

The images are from The Greetery, a layering stamp set, and then die cut with their matching dies.

The elements were attached with a mixture of 3D foam and glue, and then the sentiment banner placed across the top of the scene.

Some gold sequins added for even more bling and shine, though I think the overall look is quite clean.

I’m looking forward to seeing your Christmas/festive makes in our gallery. xx

You Are Amazing….

Cardz 4 Galz has started a new challenge. Sue J has chosen the theme of Mother’s Day (US) or flowers for a friend. I went with flowers for a friend:

Onto a white card base I added a die cut layer from a Pinkfresh Studio die set to create the interest around the edges.

The main image was stamped and gold heat embossed, and the layering stencils used, including the one which allows you to colour the background behind the flowers. I then took a smaller die from the same Pinkfresh set and die cut that panel, and added it to the layers on the card base.

I added a foiled sentiment and some gold gems for more interest.

I hope you can come and join us with you creations following our themes. xx

I shall be entering the following challenges:

The new challenges has started at The Holly and Ivy Christmas Challenge. The theme is always ‘anything goes Christmas/festive‘. Here is my card:

I stencilled the olive branches onto a white panel using some more muted colours and ‘peaceful’ colours, then cut that panel and a black panel using Gina K Master Layouts.

I stamped and gold heat embossed the sentiment, then added some gold gems and a die cut gold dove.

I hope you can come and join us with your festive makes. xx

ABC Christmas Challenge – E, F, G

Hello. The new challenge has started at ABC Christmas Challenge. Whilst this is a Christmas creation challenge – we do have themes for the letters. This time the challenge is hosted by Carol, and the themes are:

E is for Elves, F is for Food, G is for Gold

Here is my card for the ‘E is for Elves’ prompt:

The image is from Simon Says Stamp, which I stamped, coloured with Copics to match the patterned paper I was going to use, then die cut with the matching die. I added some white gel pen for interest. The sentiment was stamped and white heat embossed on black card.

The background patterned paper, which had some glitter detail, was adhered to the card base with just a little border, I added a red and white layered oval, then attached the elf image, then added the two sentiments – all with 3D foam.

I hope you can come and join us with your Christmas/Festive makes following our themes – I look forward to seeing your creations.

I used a background panel from Pinkfresh Studio to create a white on white detailed layer on the card base. I cut a thin gold glitter strip for one edge.

The snowflakes are from Pinkfresh Studio also – cut from a red mirror card and a red glitter card and layered.

The sentiment is gold heat embossed onto vellum, and die cut using the matching die, with three gold gems added for accents.

I’m looking forward to seeing your ‘snow’ themed creations. xx

A Tweet Hello

Hi there. I have a card to share whilst escaping the heat here in the UK. My craft room has aircon – so I’ll be playing quite a bit this next couple of days.

This cute little bird is from Spellbinders, and die cut using a few pieces of coloured card. I am not sure what a chickadee colour really is – but I am sure you’ll allow me some artistic license here as it’s so cute….

The circle background is a stamp from Hero Arts, white heat embossed, then some of the images water-coloured with Distress Inks.

The panel I did this on, I managed to get two circles, and one strip out of it – so I’ll be using those for a couple more cards soon.

Simple Heat Embossed Vase

Hello. A very quick and ‘escapism’ playtime yesterday created this card:

I tried to capture the thickness of the embossing here – heat embossing with a Wow! powder which has a lot of depth to it – sometimes you just need something more……

Using a couple of images from the Altenew stamp set, then heat embossing, then die cutting, created the two main elements – the vase and the flower/leaf stem.

The background is a cream card stock – textured on the actual card base, then smooth side for the added layer, die cut with a stitched rectangle.

The sentiment is from the same stamp set, and stamped using a red Distress Oxide.

I’m going to be needing some ‘thank you’ cards soon and thought I’d get to creating when I can…..

HLS CAS anything goes

Hello there and a Happy New Year. I have a card to share today as Happy Little Stampers CAS Challenge has started a new challenge. We are starting off with an easy theme – anything goes CAS. Here is my card:

I used a stamp and matching die set which came with the kit for the Crop and Create delivered card making weekend back in October of 2021. I took quite a few virtual classes from people and companies I admired and yet never hoped to think I would attend one of their classes. This is one such class – and amazing few days, fabulous teachers – and great products as part of your kit. It is called ‘Change The World‘ and has the globe with flowers sitting on top, some additional flowers and leaves, and sentiments to match

This is a variation of one of the cards taught by Cathy Zielske – I white heat embossed the stamp set, then ink blended a green and a blue Distress Ink – to create an emboss resist.

I did the same with the two individual flowers – stamped, ink blended, die cut – then attached them to this card. The sentiment is stamped using the same colour as the ink blending – but Distress Oxide as it stamps better than the Distress inks.

I am starting to think I’m going to need quite a few birthday cards over the coming weeks, so this will be a great addition to my stash.

I hope you can come and join us in our ‘CAS anything goes‘ theme – I look forward to seeing you in our gallery. xx

Yeti Or Not……

Hello once again. I created a card using an older stamp set and a new background panel from Lawn Fawn:

I chose a red card base using Heffy Doodle card stock, and then added the Lawn Fawn stitched snowflake backdrop – once I had cut it down slightly to leave a thin red edge.

The grey circle is die cut, then run through my machine with the same backdrop die, to add some stitched snowflakes as interest.

The yeti, hat and present were stamped, coloured with Copics, then die cut. The two sentiments were stamped and heat embossed – grey on white, and then white on grey.

Heat Embossing with a folder

Hi once again. I was inspired by the current challenge at Just Us Girls to try a technique – heat embossing with embossing folders. I have tried this before – with very poor results – but this time their link to the Jennifer McGuire video helped me a lot:

I played with numerous different colours of card stock, and different colours of embossing powder – but this the one which inspired me the most. A dark blue card with silver embossing powder.

I used the Lawn Fawn snowflake dies to create a matt silver and glittery large snowflake and smaller snowflake, and layered them as you see.

Here are some of my other ‘trials’:

The tip which helped me the most was using a brayer to add the embossing ink – that seemed to create a better overall coverage.

The other thing I noticed – the purple and silver piece is an A4 piece of card. I used an A4 folder, and my 12 inch Big Shot Pro – it seems I don’t get an even pressure across the whole piece – I will have to use a little shim in the future – but I actually like the effect of almost outlining the images instead of fully heat embossing the background.

On the blue floral piece, I used a thicker embossing powder, with larger embossing bits – not exactly a powder……maybe granules would be a better word? Anyhoo – I heated from the back, and created an uneven almost distressed and vintage look to that piece, which I’m liking too:

So – the outcome is that I enjoyed playing an experimenting, and also have some pieces which can be used as backgrounds, or even for die cutting in the future.

I shall be entering the card into the following challenges:
