Thank you for your kindness

Hello once again. I am managing to make some cards – I can start to sit normally with my foot down for short periods – I don’t have to keep it elevated all the time. I am being careful and not doing too much of that, but as I am able to get into my craft room I am so much happier…..

Here is a card I created as a thank you to all the people who sent me ‘get well’ wishes, and flowers, and just keeping in touch with me over the past few weeks:

I made a few of these – the same colours and layout – as I liked how it turned out so much.

I used a dark blue slimline base card, and the die cut elements from the Concord & 9th ‘Eclectic Garden’ stamp and die set. The banner is also from Concord & 9th, as is the sentiment.

I decided to keep the birds single white layer to stand out on the background. I did some that were layered with colour, but I thought this idea was better for these colours.

I used some Tonic Nuvo drops in the centre of the flowers and the end of the shorter banner words.

I’m probably going to play a little more with these birds – different colours etc – but they look so elegant in white, don’t they?

Squeeze The Day

Hello once again. I have a card for the new challenge beginning at Happy Little Stampers CAS challenge. The theme this time is ‘Citrus and Zing‘. Here is my card:

I actually don’t have that many stamps – even digi stamps – which I felt would fit this theme, and still remain CAS. I had a very detailed look through my Color My Life app – and for some reason this stamp set from Newtons Nook didn’t come up on the search……….I hadn’t actually put it into the database! What a numpty!

Thank goodness I remembered I had it – but I had forgotten who made it……..searching began and lasted a good few minutes…..

Anyhoo – I stamped the image on water-colour card stock, masked it, then stamped it again at a jaunty angle.

I used my Zigs to water-colour it – very simple, no shading, no messing – just coloured really.

I then used a Catherine Pooler die with the postage stamp edge, and decided a yellow/lemon card base would keep this fresh.

I hope you can come and join us…..I look forward to seeing you there. xx

Green or Gold…..

Hello. A new challenge has started at The Alphabet Challenge. Meg has chosen the theme of ‘Green or Gold’. Here is my card:

So – did I go for gold or what???!!!

Using the same embossing folder used previously, I embossed with some gold mirror card – and that shine and detail is stunning in real life…….

I didn’t want to hide too much of the design, so I just added the ‘Sweet Tulip’ die from Simon says Stamp – layered three times, and another sentiment strip.

The Design Team has some very varied makes as inspiration – so I hope you can come and join us with this challenge. xx

Thank you, Friend

Hello. I am managing to spend a little time sitting ‘normally’ now so have been able to so some crafting. My foot is recovering nicely, but I still have to be careful how I walk – it’s a very funny sight, I can tell you. Think penguin crossed with a crab……….

One of the cards I was able to make before my surgery was this card for the new challenge at Cardz 4 Galz:

The theme chosen by Shell is to ‘get inky’, so I played with my Distress inks and oxides, created some ink smooshing backgrounds, then die cut these leaves and flowers from a Sizzix die set.

The background is a 3D embossing folder – just on white card stock – to add some subtle interest.

The sentiment is a label sticker from Tim Holtz. In hindsight – I maybe should have put it onto a piece of card instead of sticking it directly down onto the textured background – but there we are………

I hope you can come and join us. This is the first ever challenge hosted by Shell (Bower) – so lets give her lots of choices for the top picks…….!

Happy Penguin Holidays

Hello. A new challenge has started at The Holly and Ivy Christmas Challenge. The theme is always ‘anything goes Christmas/festive‘. Here is my card:

The cute penguin image is from Gerda Steiner, coloured with Copics, with the sentiment from the same stamp set.

The background is ink blended Distress inks with a little gitterly splatter. Hills created using Lawn Fawn dies, and Lawn Fawn glitter applied to the top of each hill and their hats.

I also decided to add some glittery clouds on the top with a little – just a little – ink blending.

I hope you can come and join us and increae your crafty stash ready forr the end of the year – I look forward to seeing your creations. xx

Panda Happy Birthday

Hello there. This is another post I’m putting together whilst unable to sit at my computer – so please bear with the briefness – is that a word?

Annyway, I am hosting the new challenge beginning at The Alphabet Challenge, we have reached the letter ‘F’, and I chose the theme of ‘Furry Friends’.

Here is my card:

I chose to use an oldie but favourite stamp set from Simon Says Stamp ‘Party Like a Panda‘, and coloured with Copics.

The sparkly birthday is using a die from Mama Elephant with a shadow layer in black to make it stand out more.

The background is using a Sue Wilson embossing folder and just a little hint of wax for some shine.

I hope you can come and join us for this challenge – I’m looking forward to seeing your creations following our theme. xx

Circles and Purples

Hello everyone. Please bear with this rather limited blog post. I am recovering from foot surgery and I have to sit with my leg raised for a couple of weeks. I’m putting this post together on my tablet, as not able to sit at my desk, and also I’m not able to sit crafting either – I’m doing quite a bit of colouring – but even that is a chore at times!

I managed to get ahead with some cards for my DT duties and this is one card I made earlier for the new challenge beginning at Cardz 4 Galz – the theme is girlies with ‘Circles and Purples‘.

I hope I managed to link this correctly!

This card is actually a reveal wheel using dies from Lawn Fawn:

I stamped the ‘Freestyle Flowers’ from Simon says Stamp – and coloured with Copics. I stamped and coloured extra flowers and leaves to add a fuller image and to fill the white space arouns the arranegment.

The white background is wood grain card stock from Lawn Fawn as are the Reveal Wheel interactive dies.

I hope you can come and join us for this challenge – I look forward to seeing your creations. xx

Gingerbread Season’s Greetings

Hello everyone. My gosh I’ve had a busy weekend – I attended – virtually – the Maker Mania #3…..and let me tell you it IS manic. A three day event, a new technique from a different store every hour…….so much fun. I have lots of PDF’s to go through so I can use the techniques I saw – but it’s going to take me a long, long time.

All the timings for us in the UK ran from 4pm until 1am the following morning…..I didn’t make all the live showings, and not that late each night – but I will catch up. At some point. Hopefully in the near future…..

Anyhoo – The Holly and Ivy Christmas Challenge has a new challenge. The theme is ‘Anything goes Christmas’. here is my card:

I used the Lawn Fawn ‘Build a House’ and the Gingerbread add-on for the house, using Kraft card and some Lawn Fawn ‘Let It Shine’ paper with the gold dots.

Once die-cut. I played with the layers, and the placement and then decided it needed something extra, so I use the gingerbread and tree stamps from another Lawn Fawn set – cutting down to fit – trying not to cut the gingerbread people or the trees in half, then attached as you see.

I hope you can come and join us and get your Christmas stash growing. I hope to see you in our gallery. xx

You’re So Sweet

Hello there. A new challenge has started at The Alphabet Challenge. We have reached the letter ‘E’ and we want to see your ‘Easy’ makes – simple, minimal embellishments, minimal layers – easy and simple to make.

Here is my card:

The images were stamped with Gina K Amalgam ink, then coloured with Copics. All were die-cut with their matching dies, and adhered onto the white card base with a thin white layer using a Catherine Pooler postage stamp die.

The mouse was an after-thought – he was lying on my desk after a previous crafting session I hadn’t used him for – and I thought it would be a fun addition – he is running to use the gumball machine………….

I hope you can come and join us – I look for ward to seeing your creations….

With a Splash….

Hell once again. Cardz 4 Galz has started a new challenge and this times the me has been chosen by Billie a – Summer Fun. So – think beach, shells, water – anything which fits our theme and is along the ‘girlie’ lines is welcome. Here is my card:

Another slimline card – and this time the rhino is happily playing in the little pool, and her friend the ape is running and going to jump in and join her – which is why I think the rhino is looking a little nervous!

I can’t seem to get away from the teal and pink colour combo – but I do like how they look together. Who says you can’t have a pink ape and pink rhino? A little – OK maybe a lot – of creative license – but I am pleased with the result.

Both images were coloured with Copics, and cut out with their matching die. The pool itself is one of the stitched dens from Lawn Fawn.

I hope you can join us with your ‘Summer Fun’ cards – I look forward to seeing you there. xx
