Pink Peaceful Wreath

Hello. Here is my card for the new challenge at ABC Christmas Challenge, starting from the beginning of the alphabet again, and we want to see your Christmas creations ‘A’ for Advent and/or ‘B’ for Bells. Helen is the host this time:

Using Altenew ‘Bells and Bows’ to create the hanging bell, and ‘Peaceful Wreath‘, on the background of the ‘Pallet Background’ stamp. The word ‘peace’ die cut several times and the last layer being some pink glimmer card from Stampin Up, with ‘Infinity Wood Frame‘ dies from Hero Arts.

Once I had the dimensions right, this card came together quite quickly.

I hope you can come and join us and make an early start on your Christmas crafting – I look forward to seeing you in our gallery. xx

Teal Poinsettia

Hi everyone. I have a card to share using a different colour scheme for a poinsettia:

I recently bought some Lawn Fawn ‘Peacock’ card stock to participate in a Jenn Shurkus virtual class, and think this colour is so vibrant that I decided to use it for this poinsettia.

Using Altenew ‘Poinsettia 3D‘ die set I die cut all the layers and glued them together. The background is a Simon Says Stamp ‘Poinsettia’ cling stamp – a huge rubber stamp – that I’ve been wanting to play with for absolutely ages, and for this card I used a tone-on-tone look.

The mustard looking card is ‘Stardust’ from Concord & 9th, and the stamp was inked using the same ink cube – ‘Stardust‘, hence the tone-on-tone look.

The sentiment is from Simon says Stamp and CZ Designs ‘Good Cheer’, stamped in the same ‘Stardust’ ink on white – to match the white card base – and die cut with the matching dies.

I am pleased with how the colours worked together – I think it looks quite simple yet quite effective.

Snowman Time

Hi once again. A new challenge has begun at Cardz 4 Galz, and this time the theme is ‘It’s Snowman Time‘……

For this challenge I made some tags – out of my comfort zone but thought I’d give it another go:

I stamped and coloured the snowman from the Avery Elle stamp set, and used the two circle dies to cut them out, and added a red shiny card stock behind. I also decided to add another circle to make them bigger, so used a stitched circle from Sue Wilson.

The tag tops were die cut, and an eyelet inserted using my Crop-a-dile from We R Memory Keepers. Does anyone find that these eyelets sometimes get a little too squished? And you have to start again?

Anyhoo – I decided to stick this tag eyelet thingy behind the tag, so I die cut another white circle to put on the back to cover the ‘mess’ using a snowflake stamp to create the snowy background.

So – not a fan of making tags, but I think I’ll have to persevere and keep having a go…….

I hope you can come and join us with your ‘snowman’ themed makes – I hope to see you in our gallery. xx

Thinking of You…..

Nipping in quickly to share a CAS card for the current challenge at CASology:

The cue for the current challenge is:

I’ve been thinking about this since the challenge went ‘live’ not really knowing what I wanted to do…..I pondered and thought for a few days, then the muse inspired me.

I used Concord & 9th ‘Wheat‘ card stock, ‘Wheat’ ink, and stamped this gorgeous Uniko lily, with the sentiment from the same stamp set…………

Seems quite simple when I look at the card – but it did take me a while.

That’s it – I told you I was just nipping in……… xx

CAS Christmas Cheer

Hello there. I have a CAS card to share today utilising some new goodies. Here is my card:

Using the colours for the current challenge at Color Throwdown, I first stamped the Stampin Up trees using Concord & 9th inks cubes, then die cut them with the matching stitched triangle dies – also from Stampin Up.

As these trees had a pattern, I die-cut the Tim Holtz deer – a new die set just released – out of dotty paper from Clearly Besotted. I die cut all the deer, but these are the two I chose for this card. The rest I put back into the packet of dies for future uese.

I placed them on the card, then decided I wanted to created a hillside, so as this card measures 7 x 5 inches – my go-to card size – I find the slimline dies more than adequately cut the length. I used the Lawn Fawn die set, decided which part of the hillside I wanted, then stuck down as you see here.

I didn’t stick the deer down fully, as well as the feet and legs being quite thin and narrow – I like to leave them and the antlers unstuck. I think it creates some movement on the card.

Cardz 4 Galz ‘Retro’

Hello once again. A new challenge has started at Cardz 4 Galz, and this time the theme – chosen by Dawn – is ‘RETRO’.

The main aim of our challenge to create cards or other paper-craft items for the girls in our lives. Some of the entries to our more recent challenges have not fulfilled this requirement – unfortunately – and we have not been able to comment on those entries. Please be sure to read the rules before entering.

Here is my card:

I should let you know – I had to contact the rest of the Design Team about this challenge – I have no idea what ‘retro’ means, especially when it comes to card making.

Here are the explanations I was given:

Retro is old but not old enough to be called vintage or antique. Think back to fashions, toys or sweets from your childhood. Or design styles and icons from the 60’s 70’s 80’s etc. Kind of a modern vintage…………

I have given it a go with this card.

The background is a Uniko stamp set called ‘Mid Century Modern 2‘ and I feel has a vibe to match in with the explanantion I was given above.

I stamped twice – side-by-side – in Concord & 9th pink ink, then clear heat embossed. I’m not sure why the embossing was uneven – maybe the powder is off or I didn;t get full coverage – but I quite like the effect actually. I little more interest.

I then used the Uniko ‘Big and Bold Happy’, stamped in grey ink, then used the matching die to cut it out, and using the saem ink of the ‘everything’ word from the same stamp set.

I like the mix of grey and pink, and think the whole card is ‘girlie’ but bold with it – maybe a little like me! 🙂

I hope you can come and join us with your creations – I look forward to seeing you in our gallery. xx

Poinsettia Christmas Tree

Hello. A new challenge has begun at The Holly and Ivy Christmas Challenge. The theme is always ‘anything goes Christmas‘, Here is my card:

I decided gto go CAS with this card as I think the poinsettia tree can stand on it’s own.

This is a stamp set from Stampin Up, two layers – one for the leaves, and one for the flowers – such a cute image when stamped, I think……there is also a little tree trunk to add to the bottom of it.

CAS and one layer card – well – maybe I’m getting the hang of these now! Finally!

I used the Concord & 9th ink cubes – very vibrant colours in this set – I’m glad I managed to get them when they first arrived here in the UK – I seem to be using them a lot!

I can’t remember where the sentiment came from – I’ve tidied my desk since then 🙂

I hope you can come and join us. xx

Twofer Trees

Hi there. I’ve been trying some new techniques in my craft room, but have also had time to create a couple of CAS cards for the current challenge at Twofer Card Challenge. These are my cards:

The aim of the game at Twofer is to create two different designs for two different occasions using the same stamps/dies and/or stencils. The current challenge prompt is ‘TREES’.

I used one of the trees from Altenew ‘Moments In Time‘ stamp set. The first is stamping with tree to create and edge or border, and adding a stamped and die cut ‘awesome‘ from Altenew ‘Super Script‘ in the same colour card stock.

The second card is using the same tree with a sentiment added – clean and simple and one layer.

The tree images on both cards were stamped using Concord & 9th ink, and the banner for the turquoise card is also Concord & 9th card stock.

Even though these now look quite simple – it took me ages to actually plan what colours to use, and where to stamp the images – absolutely ages. It takes me longer for these kinds of cards than ones with more images and layers……………..

So – these two cards for the current challenge at Twofer.

Christmas Cardinals

Hello there. A new challenge is beginning at The Holly and Ivy Christmas Challenge – the theme is – as always – anything goes as long as it’s Christmas or festive related. Here is my card:

I decided to use a pre-coloured image from Jan’s Digis. I don’t think I’ve used a pre-coloured image before, and it took a lot of research to enable me to manipulate the images, background and sentiment – layering them, bringing some to the front, some to the back, then getting mixed up in what the heck I was doing!

It must have took me longer to do all that than if I’d coloured the image myself – but I like what I managed to achieve here.

The sentiment is also from Jan’s digis, and I decided to add a blue background – again using ‘Word’ manipulation – but leaving the bottom open – just like snow.

It definitely took me more than 2 hours, but once I had printed and die-cut the rectangle – I was away.

I added some coloured layers as you see – and I also added some glitter pen to the snow, and created some glittery snow drifts on the bottom.

I hope doing things like this gets easier…………

I was going to leave the card at that, but I felt it needed a little more, so I used Stampin Up ‘Poinsettia Petals‘ to add a poinsettia and some leaves, then some clear Stickles to the centre. The ink must not have been dry, so the stickles took on the red colour – quite liking that effect.

Anyhoo – I hope you can come and join us. I’m looking forward to seeing you in our gallery. xx

Winter Wonderland

Hello there. There is a new challenge beginning at ABC Christmas Challenge. We have reached the letters ‘S’ and ‘T’ – and we want to see your SNOWY and/or TINSEL creations.

I chose ‘SNOWY’:

Hero Arts Color Layering Snowy Tree
Concord & 9th mini ink cubes
Wow! white embossing powder
Sue Wilson Stitched circle dies

I used Hero Arts ‘Color Layering Snowy tree’, stamped three times, with the third layer being white embossing powder to represent the snow.

Once I had positioned the trees where I wanted them, I used a couple of stitched circle dies to create the two layers.

It looked quite bear at this point, so I searched through the CML app for a deer image – which had a matching die set, as too fiddly to cut small images out I find – and the Stampin Up ‘Carols of Christmas‘ appeared.

The deer was stamped twice and die cut, then placed as you see.

The sentiment is also from the same Hero Arts stamp set, and stamped in one of the green inks I had used for the trees.

I hope you can come and join us and share your snowy or tinsel creations. The Design Team has some amazing inspiration for you. xx
