Butterflies – More Than Two

Hello again. Veronika is hosting the new challenge at The Alphabet Challenge. For the letter ‘B‘ she has chosen ‘Butterflies – more than 2‘. Here is my card:

I first started by ink blending the background panel. This is a layering stencil set from Spellbinders, and I used Pinkfresh Studio inks. This panel was cut down slightly so I could add it to a dark green card base allowing a small border.

I then used some Pinkfresh Studio washi tape ‘Fluttering Butterflies’, stuck down to white card, then die cut with the matching die set.

I chose three of the butterflies which would match but also be seen on the background and glued them down.

The sentiment was previously foiled, and I chose a black sentiment to stand out from the colourful background.

I hope you can come and join us with your creations featuring two or more butterflies. xx

Thinking Of You

Hello everyone. I had – unfortunately – the need for a sympathy card. A close friend of mine lost her father this last week so I wanted something simple yet meaningful. Here is my card:

I started with the background, and used a Pinkfresh Studio cover plate to create the stitched panel. This was adhered flat to the card base. Onto that I attached a frame created using a layering stencil from a recent Pinkfresh Studio virtual event, and die cutting with a ‘Fancy Frames‘ die set – also part of that event.

I first stencilled a panel, then used the frame dies, and used this one piece adhered flat to the background stitched panel.

Using the washi tape from that event – stuck onto a piece of card then die cut with the matching dies – I chose the floral images I thought would best go around the frame, and adhered them with glue.

The sentiment is a previously foiled strip.

Having lost both my parents over the past 5 years of so, I can appreciate how she is feeling, but it is still very difficult to be able to put that into words, isn’t it?

Heart Hugs

Hello. I had some time to create in my craft room today using some products from the recent Simon Says Stamp ‘Sending Love‘ virtual class event. Even though I don’t see myself as a particularly romantic person, the products were inspiring. Here is my creation:

I first started by using the layering heart stencil. There are four layers to this stencil, and I used Pinkfresh Studio inks in tones of pink. This panel was then die cut using the ‘postage edge’ die set – part of the kit – and a larger layer of red to mat behind it.

These two layers were attached to a white A2 card base, the red glued directly down, and the heart panel raised using some craft foam.

I then stamped the ‘HUGS’ in black Gina K Amalgam ink, then coloured with three red Copic markers, creating a gradient darker at the bottom and lighter at the top. This word was then die cut, and I also added three more die cut layers to make this a little more sturdy.

The word was then glued down, and I added some glossy accents on top to make it all shiny…

I also raided my stash as I knew I had some little heart embellishments, and added some light pink hearts around and about in the open spaces:

This actually turned out to be a mixed media project at the end, which surprises me as it is quite simple – but yet effective.

Oh Joy…..

Hello everyone and a Happy New Year to you all…..

The Holly and Ivy Christmas Challenge has started their new challenge – the theme is always ‘anything goes Christmas’. Here is my card:

I decided it was time to use some products I had received as part of a virtual event last year. I hadn’t gone through the classes at all, so I am trying to use the products, even though I wasn’t following the actual classes.

The background is a Spellbinders embossing folder, and onto that I adhered the stitched oval which was layered three times, the top layer being the gold layer. I only attached the top half of the oval initially, as I knew I wanted to layer some foliage under it.

The bird is a layering stencil from the SCT class, die cut then stencil – easier to layer that way. I then sued a stencil for the holly and the pine cone, then used the matching dies for those.

The bird was attached first with 3D foam strategically placed, then the foliage elements inserted.

The foiled sentiment from Lawn Fawn was added, and then some gold sequins.

I hope you can come and join us, it would be great to see you in our gallery. xx

Stenciled Merry Christmas

The new challenge has started at The Holly and Ivy Christmas Challenge. The theme is always ‘anything goes Christmas/Festive’. Here is my card:

I started by using the layering stencil from Simon Says Stamp to create the background and let the inks dry.

I then add some gold heat embossing to the centre of the flowers, and used a gold marker pen to add some extra small and larger dots around the background.

Using Gina K Master Layouts dies, I cut the black layer, then the stencilled layer, and added to a white card base.

The foiled sentiment was added, and then some iridescent gems here and there.

I hope you can come and join us with your Christmas/festive creations. xx

Thinking of you

Hello there. I created this card using the colour scheme from the Color Throwdown Challenge:

I stamped the Pinkfresh Studio image, dried the ink a little, then used the matching layering stencils. I used several blue inks, a couple of brown inks, and Rusty Hinge for the rust colour.

Once coloured, I used the matching die set and adhered it with 3D foam to a background panel which was dry embossed using a Spellbinders embossing folder.

I stamped the sentiment, die cut that with a label die, then searched my stash for some gems or sequins which would match the colours.

I shall be entering the following nchallenges:
