Fringe Cake

Hi there. Happy Little Stampers ‘anything goes birthday’ challenge has started for August. Here is my card:

The cake die is from Spellbinders, and the layers of the cake die cut with a couple of colours from Concord & 9th. I love how the die cuts the fringe into the layers, and there is a row for stitching, for which I used a glitter gold thread, and a blue and white striped thread.

The candles and the cake stand were die cut from Spellbinders gold glitter foam.

I adhered a piece of patterned paper to the card base, cut slightly smaller to allow white edge, then assembled the cake as you see. The candles were the hardest part, as they are quite thin and fiddly, but the foam adheres very nicely once put into position.

I is for Ice Cream

Hello there. The Alphabet Challenge has reached the letter ‘I’, and Dawn has chosen the theme of ‘Ice Cream‘. Here is my card:

The ice cream die cuts are from Elizabeth Craft Designs, and die cut in a variety of bright summery colours, matching the colours from the background polka dot paper I chose.

The paper is from Polkadoodles, and the card stock is from Concord & 9th.

These were attached with 3D foam, and the sentiment stamped with C9 ink – a couple of times to get a better impression.

I am sure we will see a great deal of colour is our gallery, and I’m looking forward to seeing you there. xx

Thank You Triple Flap

Hello once again. Cardz 4 Galz has started a new challenge. Helen is the host this time round, and has chosen the theme of ‘more than one fold’. Here is my card:

This is a triple flap card, quite easy to do, but as fancy folds aren’t my usual style – I really had to concentrate for this one. It is held closed by the belly band.

My goodness – these are a challenge to photograph.

I chose some coordinating patterned paper from Spellbinders, adding them to each part of the card. The back piece I wanted quite plain as I knew I was going to add a little something more.

The frames and puffy sentiment are also from Spellbinders, and not too bulky for the card to close.

The triple flap is held closed by a belly band, to which I stuck a larger floral image from the same card kit.

As you know, I’m not one to use a lot of patterned paper usually, but I really like these colours, and as the whole pad has a lot of coordinating paper, it makes it just that bit easier to match .

You Had Me At Meow….

Hello once again. The Alphabet Challenge has reached the letter ‘C’, and Helen has chosen the theme of ‘CATS’. I am currently ‘owned’ by four cats, but rarely seem to make cards with cats……. Here is my card:

The background panel is patterned paper – a subtle one as I wanted everything else on there to be bright and cheerful.

The main sentiment is from Time For Tea Designs, die cut in the bright pink with the white shadow layer, and attached with 3D foam.

The cats are from a Tim Holtz die set, the die set aptly called ‘Mischievous’, and I chose the three cats which I would be able to intertwine around the sentiment – again in bright and cheerful colours.

The hardest part about creating this card was choosing the colours. I wanted bright, cheerful and fun colours, which I think I achieved.

So Many Reasons To Be Happy

Hello. I have been creating using a card kit from Spellbinders – outside of my comfort zone – but loving the fancy fold:

I understand this is called a ‘seagull’ fold. I came across this when viewing one of my DT friends and her recent post. which linked to a video on how to create it. Her post is here.

I chose to use some Spellbinders patterned papers as the background pieces, and some die cuts from one of their card kits. I don’t usually use a lot of these die cuts, but I seem to have quite a collection going now – so I took the opportunity to create this little jumping bunny scene. I feel the bunny is protecting itself from the sun – though we aren’t having much at the moment here in the UK. I understand it is coming soon though…….

I added some enamel dots to the centre of the flowers in the front panel, then decided that those polka dots on the patterned paper deserved some too – once I start I can’t seem to stop adding them. The enamel dots are from Concord & 9th and from a previous online crafty event.

Hello. The new challenge has started at ABC Christmas Challenge. Whilst this is a Christmas creation challenge – we do have themes for the letters. This time the challenge is hosted by Carol, and the themes are:

E is for Elves, F is for Food, G is for Gold

Here is my card for the ‘E is for Elves’ prompt:

The image is from Simon Says Stamp, which I stamped, coloured with Copics to match the patterned paper I was going to use, then die cut with the matching die. I added some white gel pen for interest. The sentiment was stamped and white heat embossed on black card.

The background patterned paper, which had some glitter detail, was adhered to the card base with just a little border, I added a red and white layered oval, then attached the elf image, then added the two sentiments – all with 3D foam.

Column Card

Claudia has chosen the next theme at Cardz 4 Galz, and she wants to see your shaped cards. Here is my card:

I created the base column card using instructions from a previous online crafty event – Maker Mania – and it was quite simple to put together.

I chose a white base card, and then used some Graphic 45 papers and ephemera to embellish. I don’t use my patterned papers enough, and I certainly don’t use ephemera very much, but I am trying different things, exploring different avenues – anything to do with paper crafting I’ll give it a go.

This also folds down to be mailed easy:

I struggle with layering and ephemera, what colours to use and where to place the items, but I’ve decided that what works for me is to lay things out and just go for it……..as long at the ‘stuff’ co-ordinates it seems to work. I can see I’ll be playing around a little more in the future.

Coffee Cup Shaker

Hello. I have a card to share using a new die set from Time For Tea Designs:

I die cut the coffee cup in a piece of card which had been sprayed with mica stain, this would act as the base which would be seen through the acetate.

I then taped the coffee cup and window die together, and die cut both 5 times to create the walls of the shaker. I didn’t use 3D foam for the edges – I think stacked die cuts look cleaner when viewed from the side.

I glued four of the die cuts to the base, added sequins into the ‘well’, added acetate to the back of the top ink smooshed layer and stuck down. I wanted a brown-ish coffee cup, but not solid brown. The lid was die cut and added.

I stamped the sentiment, cut into a strip, and glued to the top of the acetate.

There are a few dies in this set I didn’t use – a gift card holder and slots, and a coffee cup wrap piece – but I thought the wrap piece would cover up too much of the cup and shaker for this project.

I wanted a background patterned paper which was quite colourful, so the coffee shaker would stand out, and chose one which had colours which seemed to be reflected in the sequin mix.

Hello. A chance for me today to do a little more Copic colouring – in-between binge watching ‘Warrior Nun’ first season. Here is my card:

This cute little kitty and the presents are from a new stamp set from a new company to me, bought a few weeks ago at a Craft Show. I stamped the images, coloured with Copics, then cut out using my Scan-n-cut. I added some white gel pen to the presents just for a little more interest.

The patterned paper was adhered to the card base, the white stitched rectangle adhered using 3D foam, but before adding the kitty and presents with 3D foam, I stamped a sentiment from the same stamp set.

It’s interesting to me that I coloured the cat, when none of my current 4 cats have that colouring! How bizarre is that? I have two black and white cats, a tabby, and a tortoiseshell………weird the way my brain works sometimes…….

Hello Friend….

A new challenge has started at The Alphabet Challenge. Having reached the letter ‘Q’, Melanie has chosen the theme of ‘Quilt‘. Here is my card:

I used Concord & 9th dies to create this very colourful card. A lot of die cutting and then gluing the triangles together – then deciding which colours to put where, in which pattern – goodness knows how quilt makers manage.

I used some dotty patterned paper for the triangles, adhered to the base panel, a black layer, then stuck onto a white card base.

The bigger orange sentiment has a slightly off-set black layer – and the shadow layer to make it stand out a little more – the smaller sentiment in black.

Just one itty bitty black gem for the tittle on the letter ‘i’ of friend – really because lost the die cut one and didn’t want to risk a black Nuvo drop…..

The Design Team has come up with some original shapes and colours – I hope you can come and join us. xx
