Go Wild, Party Animal

Hello. It is my time time host at The Alphabet Challenge. We have reached the letter ‘J’, and I chose the theme of ‘Jungle Animals’. Here is my card:

The background panel was dry embossed with a Spellbinders embossing folder, and cut down slightly smaller than the A2 card base.

I stamped the scene from a Clearly Besotted, and coloured with Copics. Once coloured, I cut that down with a stitched rectangles, and adhered to the dry embossed panel.

I stamped the critters from Heffy Doodle, coloured them with Copics, and die cut them with the matching die set. I decided to stamp and colour more leaves so it looked like they were playing in the undergrowth, and attached the elements with a mixture of 3D foam and wet glue.

The sentiment was stamped and placed as you see.

I hope you can come and join us with your ‘Jungle Animals’ themed creations. xx

Strawberry Thanks

Cardz 4 Galz has started a new challenge. Caz has chosen the theme of ‘A Summer Day’. Here is my card:

Strawberries suggest to me a summer day, which is why I used this die set from Spellbinders. I only seem to eat them when it is bright and sunny – very much missing in the UK at the moment – though I understand there is some sun and warm e=weather due to us this coming week…..

The back panel was dry embossed using a Spellbinders embossing folder and adhered to the card base.

I then die cut all the elements from the die set from Concord & 9th card stock, stuck all the layers together, and arranged onto the back panel with 3D foam.

The sentiments is a foiled strip – also from Spellbinders – and some gold sequins were dotted around the main image for added interest.

I hope you can come and join us with your summer themed projects. xx

It’s Snow Day………

Hello. I was proud to be the winner for the Christmas Craft Creations May 2023 challenge, and therefore offered a Guest design Team spot for July.

This is the second card I created for the half-way reminder post.

I used a panel of dark blue card stock, and the same embossing folder from Simon Says Stamp as my first Guest DT card, then gently rubbed a white pigment ink pad over the top to highlight the snowflakes.

Whilst that was drying. I die cut all the elements I wanted to use from the ‘Santa’s Workshop’ die set from Spellbinders, then arranged them all as you see.

The lighter blue panel is ink smooshed and then die cut. The hills and sentiment die cut from silver glitter card.

We are half way through the challenge, so you have plenty of time to join us with your ‘anything goes‘ Christmas creations. xx

Believe In The Magic Raccoon

Hello. I was proud to be the winner for the Christmas Craft Creations May 2023 challenge, and therefore offered a Guest design Team spot for July.

The July theme is ‘anything goes Christmas’.

Here is my card:

The background was created using a Simon Says Stamp embossing folder and some light blue card stock. I cut that down slightly and adhered with 3D foam to the card base.

I die cut the ‘Christmas Bandit‘ from Spellbinders layered together – fiddly but I persevered – and added some red glitter foam and silver glitter card for the hat.

I used another Spellbinder die set for the cloche, the frame itself from silver glitter card, and I die cut it again to get the white inner piece, and dry embossed that with another Simon Says Stamp embossing folder. I created a hill by cutting some glitter card to size.

The sentiment is a silver foiled strip, and I chose that sentiment because who doesn’t want to believe in the magic of a Christmas raccoon…….?

I hope you can come and join the team with your Christmas creations. xx

Welcome……

I was lucky enough and thrilled to be chosen as a Featured Stamper on a new challenge for The Color Throwdown.

These are the colours for the new challenge:

and here is the card I made:

The Kraft background is dry embossed using a very, very old embossing folder from Crafters Companion, and a little Tea Dye Distress Ink blended around the edges.

I then die cut all the pieces from the Spellbinders ‘Always Welcome‘ die set, using a slightly textured cream card stock, Concord & 9th Tidepool card stock for the aqua, and Spellbinders gold card stock.

The pillars were die cut three times and layered, and I also used the embossing mat to create some of the details in the pillars.

I die cut the window out on the door, and added some vellum behind it, then glued down the fancy door detail panel, and added the letter box and door knob.

These colour choices could be used for a variety of creations, and I had several ideas before I settled on this card – I am sure the DT at Color Throwdown have some amazing inspiration – I hope you can come and join us. xx

Floral Birthday

I created this card yesterday, then forgot to photograph it and write the post – so here I am running just a tad later than planned:

The floral image is a layering stencil set from The Greetery, and I used Pinkfresh Studio inks in two different pinks, purples, and greens. The green leaves are layered with the same colour each time, but going in a little more heavy-handed with the second layer.

I tried this image with a white background, but I thought I would go for the more dramatic look to allow the colours to stand out more…..

A black card base, with a black panel which had been dry embossed using s Spellbinders embossing folder – cut slightly smaller than the card base.

I added the floral image, then a foiled sentiment strip across the middle.

A finishing touch of a few silver sequins hidden here and there.

Flowery Birthday Truck

I was inspired by a few challenges to create the following card:

One of the challenges I am entering was to create a birthday card with a car or a truck. I knew I had one or two somewhere, so I searched the Color My Life app and found this truck which came with last year’s Spellbinders Advent Calendar.

I die cut the truck with Concord & 9th card stock, then added the black and gold wheels. I added some light blue card stock to the windows.

The background was created using a piece of Spellbinders patterned paper which has some gold embossed detail to it, and a dry embossed strip – another Advent Calendar item – placed at the bottom to ground the truck.

The flowers are also from the Advent Calendar – die cut and assembled as you see – and added to the card so it would seem they are bursting from the back of the truck.

I added a foiled sentiment strip to the embossed area, and a couple of sequins, also adding some faceted gems to the centre of the flowers.

Another quite fiddly creation – but again – very satisfying.

Hello Friend – Mushrooms

Hi once again. I have used this sentiment quite a lot in the past few weeks. I obviously like it, but I can’t keep having the blog post with the same title, so I just added the theme. Here is the card I created:

I have had this stencil and die set from Pinkfresh Studio since attending one of their virtual crafting events. I haven’t completed that class yet, but I wanted to use the set when I saw the colours for the current Color Throwdown challenge.

I stencilled the mushrooms in red and blue inks from Pinkfresh Studio, then stencilled the leafy sprigs in a brown from Altenew. A little grey for the ground/sand stuff at the bottom.

I then used the matching die and played around – for quite a while – with the layout and design.

The final card has a light brown dry embossed background, using a Spellbinders embossing folder. I then die cut the glass dome from some vellum, played around a little more, and decided the brown leafy sprigs were best going behind the vellum. In that way, they aren’t disturbing my trio of mushrooms, and yet still create some background interest.

The sentiment strip was added to the vellum, and behind the solid elements of the mushrooms and sentiment I added glue to adhere the vellum to the light brown embossed panel.

The mushrooms needed something more, so I added some gold shiny dots:

And juts a little more bling with some blue sequins.

This card looks deceptively simple – and yet it took me while to get the ink blending, the layering, and the final composition to where I was happy.

Happy Blooming Birthday

Hello there. I am the host for the new challenge at Cardz 4 Galz. I chose the theme of ‘use die cuts and/or punches‘. Here is my card:

And so continues my fascination with die cutting and layering – all that fiddlyness – I think I made a new word!

These tile dies are from Spellbinders, and I die cut a whole bunch of each – the diamond background, the floral elements, the gold stars – and assembled them before I even thought about how I was going to put them on a card base.

I decided to go a heart shape as I could use a lot of the tiles – even though you can see I had some left over.

The background is a dry embossed panel – using the deboss side – and matted onto a black rectangle to make it pop a little more.

The sentiment is a debossing sentiment, which I quite like the look of, especially in gold.

There was enough going on with this card so I didn’t even think about adding extra gems or enamel dots.

I hope you can come and join us with your creations following our theme – I look forward to seeing you in our gallery. xx

Merry and Bright Lantern

The Holly and Ivy Christmas Challenge has started their next challenge. Our theme is always ‘anything goes Christmas/festive’. Here is my card:

The background panel is dry embossed using a very old We R Memory Keepers embossing folder, I then layered that with a gold panel – gutting the centre by die cutting the gold label die, to which I also added a white dry embossed layer.

The images and florals are all from Spellbinders, another mega die-cutting session, then layered together. I first adhered the lantern, then played with placement of all the images until I was happy, and adhered them with a mixture of 3d Foam and wet glue.

I then added some gold gems to the centre of the poinsettias, and a foiled sentiment.

I hope you can come and join us with your Christmas/festive creations. xx
