Floral Birthday

I created this card yesterday, then forgot to photograph it and write the post – so here I am running just a tad later than planned:

The floral image is a layering stencil set from The Greetery, and I used Pinkfresh Studio inks in two different pinks, purples, and greens. The green leaves are layered with the same colour each time, but going in a little more heavy-handed with the second layer.

I tried this image with a white background, but I thought I would go for the more dramatic look to allow the colours to stand out more…..

A black card base, with a black panel which had been dry embossed using s Spellbinders embossing folder – cut slightly smaller than the card base.

I added the floral image, then a foiled sentiment strip across the middle.

A finishing touch of a few silver sequins hidden here and there.

Friendly Hibiscus

Hello once again. I have been playing with a new die set from The Greetery:

The ‘Botanicuts Hibiscus’ is a layering die set, with three flowers, a bud, and some leaves. I die cut the layers with Concord & 9th card stock, to create this central design.

I added a previously foiled back panel, created using a Spellbinders foil plate, and added a foiled sentiment – a black strip so it would stand out.

I feel it’s quite a simple card, with many layering elements. I gave the flower petals some dimension by curling them slightly.

I also toyed with the idea of adding some shading to each of the flower petals and leaves with Copic markers, but decided to keep the colour of the card stock as it was for a cleaner finish.

Especially For You

Hello, some crafty time today created this card:

I chose a 5×7 inch card base so I could get the basket and the floral image in their full glory.

The basket is due cut from a light brown card stock with the Spellbinders die you see, and the edges inked slightly for a little dimension.

The floral image is from The Greetery, a stencil and die set. 6 layers in total, but I kept the floral layers two shades of yellow, with dark green centres and the leaves were all inked with the same mint colour from Pinkfresh Studio.

The main die cut image was inserted into the top of the basket and attached to the card base with 3D foam.

The die set also cuts some flowers, so I also ink blended those small flowers with a yellow ink, them added them to the top of the basket.

I thought some extra leaves were needed, so I searched the Color My Life app and found these leaves – also from Spellbinders – blended the mint green onto w white piece of card and die cut those extra leaves, adding them here and there throughout the back of the central image.

I added some clear gem thingies to the centre of the extra flowers, and also added three around the central image.

The sentiment is a previously foiled strip:

Floral Frame Birthday

After a busy week, I was able to create a card over the past couple of days, and completed today:

The base colour is cream from my stash, a Creative Expressions cream coloured card stock. I first took an A2 panel and dry embossed it with a Spellbinders embossing folder. I then attached this to the card base.

I then took another cream panel, and ink blended the floral frame (The Greetery) using the layering stencils. I used a light pink for all the flowers, stamping them twice for the base layer, and then for the added detail layer – using the same light pink – stamped three times to create a darker pink. I then used the outer and inner edge dies to cut the frame out.

I then took another stencil set from The Greetery and ink blended the two yellow flowers, using the die panel to cut those out.

I was going to attach the frame straight onto the embossed panel, but I thought the centre looked too busy with the dry embossing behind it, so I die cut the outer edge of the frame from another piece of cream card stock and attached it to the back using 3D foam tape – to create a more solid centre, and create some dimension and shadow behind the frame.

The yellow flowers were inserted, the sentiment stamped and the sentiment strip adhered with glue on the edges, and 3D foam on the centre.

I added some yellow dots to balance the yellow above the sentiment strip.

A little more crafty time created this card:

This card took a little planning, some drying time – and patience…..

I started by ink blending a piece of card with Distress Inks – Prize Ribbon and Hickory Smoke. Once dry, I stamped the trees in Versafine Black Onyx – and waited for it to dry again. Then splattered with white acrylic paint – and waited yet again.

Whilst waiting for all the drying to happen, I die cut the houses from The Greetery from ‘Ice White’ card stock from Pink frog Crafts here in the UK, pieced all the layers together – not a major issue – then stuck some black card stock on the back of the houses to fill in the windows.

I then die cut a circle from the front of the card base, die cut a larger circle from the ink blended panel – deciding which part I wanted to show through the aperture, glued that to the back of the card front – adding a white panel on the back to cover the mess. Sorry – the creative process……

I then placed the houses as you see – the smallest one with glue, and the other two with 3D foam squares, added a foiled sentiment – and done….

Cardz 4 Galz – Forget-Me-Not

The new challenge theme at Cardz 4 Galz has been chosen by Debbie. She wants us to create a card ‘for a cause’. Here is my card:

My mum passed away earlier this year from the effects of Alzheimer’s Dementia, and so I chose to use forget-me-nots for my card, which is the flower associated with this dreadful disease.

I used the die set from The Greetery to create this bunch of flowers. Firstly, I ink smooshed some blue and some green inks onto some Distress Mixed Media card stock – trying to get some variation in the colours – but not too dramatic.

Once die cut, I assembled the flowers – I must have had some patience to do this – but maybe it was that I was inspired by the reason I was doing it – so very fiddly – but it came together quite quickly.

The sentiment is from Pinkfresh Studio, and I realise as I type this that it is very emotional, such a short time since I lost her, and I will always be thinking of her……she is the one who got me into card making in the first place too……

I hope you can come and join us with your creations following our theme. xx

From Me To You….

Hello there. I have a card to share which I put the finishing touches to today:

This floral set is from The Greetery and includes, stamps, stencils, and dies.

I first stenciled all the layers and images then used the die to cut it out. Once I had that cut, I then worked on my background.

I layered a piece of black card stock. as I wanted to use a black and foiled sentiment, and onto that I layered a white piece, dry embossed using a ‘dotty’ embossing folder, and then splattered with black and gold Liquitex acrylic paints – the shimmery set.

I used a 5×7 inch card base, then realised the floral arrangement was just a little too short for this size, so I cut it in half………I know, I know – all that stencilling and I cut it – but I had a plan…..

The gold foiled sentiment strip was adhered with 3D foam across the middle, then the two halves of the floral arrangement – also on 3D foam – was kinda tucked into the strip. That made it slightly longer and just seemed to fit the size of card better.

I then added some gold faceted gems……and then…….realised the sentiment was in silver foil not gold……oh well – that just meant I had to stick some silver faceted gems down too – which I did onto some flowers! What a numpty!

Anyhoo – I hope you like it.
