Red Poinsettia

Hello everyone. I have a card to share for the new challenge at The Holly & Ivy Christmas Challenge.

I again used the ‘Sketched Poinsettia’ from Waffle Flowers Crafts, but this time I used more traditional bold colours.

I first stamped then gold heat embossed the image, then used the layering stencils to colour it in. This was then die cut with the matching die, and put to one side whilst I thought about the background.

The striped red paper was cut to the size of an A2 card, and I then used some letter press plates from Pinkfresh Studio to hot foil the frame and the inner rectangular piece, cutting them out with the matching dies. This gave some subtle gold highlights to certain places of the die cuts.

The poinsettia was added, and then a hot foiled sentiment on the top. The final touch were some gold gems.

I hope you can come and join us in our challenge, and I look forward to seeing you in our gallery.

Things With Wings

Hello once again. It is my turn to host the new challenge at Cardz 4 Galz, and I have chosen the theme of ‘Things with wings‘. Here is my card:

I used a Pinkfresh Studio suite called ‘Fluttering Butterflies’. I first hot foiled the butterflies and flowers, then used the matching layering stencils to colour them in. Once coloured, the matching die set cut them all out, and I could then decide what I wanted on the background.

The background panel was cut and dry embossed using a Spellbinders embossing folder, then attached to the card base.

The gold panel was die cut using a Pinkfresh Studio die set, then also adhered flat to the embossed panel.

I then played around with all the images until I was happy, and adhered them with glue, adding the foiled sentiment, and some Spellbinders gems as the final touches.

I hope you can come and join our ‘things with wings’ challenge. I look forward to seeing you in our gallery. xx

Congrats – You deserve It

Hi there. Popping in to share another project created using the products from this past weekend’s Pinkfresh Studio virtual event.

I have the need for 6 congratulations cards, as the rest of my nurse practitioner team have been given a higher grading/banding. In the UK, we have certain ‘band’ levels which rise with seniority and qualifications, so their hard work and university courses have really paid off for them.

It has taken them 2 years of a Masters course at university on top of doing their day-to-day jobs, all that writing and actually jumping through hoops – it has taken a while – but they have finally been successful. Congrats to them all.

Here is my set of cards:

It probably took me a couple of hours to create these, but once you get going, all that ink blending on all those panels just goes quickly.

I first hot foiled the image, then started to ink blend. I did start with purple, but went to the coral colour and decided to keep them virtually the same after that. A couple of tones to create the dimension on the balloons, then each panel was die cut with the matching die set. I cut an extra of the balloon image for each one and glued together to create a little more stability.

I then hot foiled the sentiment, again used the matching dies, and added more blank die cuts behind those too.

The background panel was also a plate which had stitched detail, and adhered flat to the card base.

The extra little floral elements I added just for a little more colour.

This image – the stamp set, hot foil plate, layering stencils, and matching dies – are all just one set of products from one class – there are 4 other classes I have yet to do with other products………I can see a lot of Pinkfresh Studio projects coming your way….

Thanks For Everything

Hello everyone. I have a card to share using new products from Pinkfresh Studio. This press plate, stamp, die, and colouring stencils are from the Pinkfresh Studio event happening this weekend. I made this putting my take on the products whilst the live event:

I began by hot foiling the press plate of the balloons, then used the layering stencils to colour them. I created some dimension with varying the pressure of the ink blending brush, and also added a slightly darker blue to the left and under-side of each balloon.

I then hot foiled the sentiment – also products from the event – then die cut it and stacked a couple more layers beneath that.

This is a 5×7 inch card, and I used a ‘Dragonfruit‘ piece of card stock and a Spellbinders embossing folder for the background, adhered with a layer of foam, and attached to the card base.

The two balloon images were adhered with 3D foam beneath each balloon, then the sentiment glued down.

I also added some clear drops from Altenew:

Dancin’ Gingerbread

Hello. I ma hosting the new challenge at ABC Christmas Challenge. We have reached the letters ‘E’, ‘F’, and ‘G’. The Christmas themes are:

E is for embossing, F is for Faux, and G is for Gingerbread

I have also put a couple of stamp sets for a random winner:

I went with the Gingerbread theme. Here is my card:

The little gingerbread girls are from a Spellbinders die set, and you can make them as is, or you can make them dance. Of course, I made them dance:

I first die cut all the elements, and before gluing together most of the elements.

The background is a hot foiled panel – from Spellbinders – attached with glue.

To assemble the gingerbread so they dance, the head stays in one place. You add 3D foam to the centre of the head, attach the ringed die cut piece to the bodies, place over the 3d foam on the head – and stick that head down…..

Swinging bodies ensue…..

I hope you can come and join us with your Christmas creations following our themes, the Design Team have a variety of inspiration for you. xx

Delivering Warm Hugs

Hello there. The Holly and Ivy Christmas Challenge has started a new ‘anything goes Christmas‘ challenge. Here is my card:

I had fun creating this card with all those die cuts. I have to be in ‘the zone’ when I do this, but I enjoy the process.

The background panel is dry embossing using a Spellbinders embossing folder, and adhered flat to the card base.

The mug, marshmallows and candy canes are from Spellbinders, die cut and assembled with a mixture of glue and 3D foam.

the sentiment is heat foiled, and some silver sequins added for extra sparkle.

I hope you can come and join us with your Christmas creations. xx

Cherish The Season

Hello everyone. The Holly and Ivy Christmas Challenge has started a new challenge – the theme is anything goes Christmas. Here is my card:

I used a stamp set from Tim Holtz and picked this cute little reindeer and wreath. The image was stamped in black onto water colour card stock, then heat embossed in clear.

I then took out my Zig markers for a change and coloured the image, then used the matching die set to cut him out.

I decided to take this card a little more simply, but just adding a hot foiled panel behind him, and then a hot foiled sentiment. He certainly needs to take centre stage.

I hope you can come and join us, and I look forward to seeing you in our gallery. xx

Sparkly Joy

Hello once again. Cardz 4 Galz has started a new challenge. Pamela is hosting and has chosen the theme of:

‘A Christmas Card’

Here is my card:

The background was created using a hot foil plate from Spellbinders, and cut to an A2 card size.

The die cut elements were created using some Tim Holtz die sets – the word ‘Joy’ die cut out of Spellbinders red glitter foam and adhered with 3D foam – more dimension so I could add the foliage underneath the letters.

For the holly and the berries, I added glossy accents to create the shine, and I dotted some clear sequins around for even more shimmer and shine:

Holly Background

Hello once again. The Holly and Ivy Christmas Challenge has started a new ‘anything goes Christmas‘ challenge. Here is my card:

The background holly is a hot foil plate from Spellbinders, and hot foiled using gold. I then used the layering stencils to colour the images. As you can see, it is a whimsical kind of colouring – some bare areas not covered by the stencils – and I really like that look.

I used several shades of green for the leaves, and a deep red for the berries.

Once that was dry, I also added some gold with paint markers to the centre of the berries.

The sentiment was also hot foiled then die cut, and all layered onto a green card base with a thin gold matting layer.

I hope you can come and join us for this challenge. I am looking forward to seeing you in our gallery. xx

‘O’ is for Owl

At the Alphabet Challenge, we have reached the letter ‘O‘, and Meg has chosen the theme of ‘Owl‘. Here is my card:

This gorgeous owl die is from Honey Bee Stamps, and was part of the Crop and Create virtual crafting event in March of this year. I didn’t make all the cards from that event – yet – but this owl was just waiting for the right time for me to bring him out…..

The owl pieces were die cut from white woodgrain card stock, and following the video tutorial for that event, I ink blended some grey Distress Oxides, using varying pressure, to create the layered effect, and ink blended some bro for his feet. I used some brown woodgrain cardstock for the branch.

The background is a silver hot foiled frame from Altenew from a previous hot foiling session, and set into a Pinkfresh Studio die cut frame.

All elements were adhered as you see, and the sentiment is a also hot foiled – white onto a black strip of card.

I hope you can come and join us with your creations featuring and owl. xx
