Autumnal Inlay

Hello. A little playtime – and fiddly – time today to create this card:

I was inspired by the current colours at Color Hues – olive and mustard. I took my trusty Distress Inks, Distress Oxides, and sprays and set to with ink smooshing, splattering and generally getting messy and inky. These were the products used:

I created three panels, one with Crushed Olive with Crushed Olive splatters, and the others with Mustard Seed with Crushed Olive splatters also.

Whilst these panels were drying, I found a [previously created piece of card I could use for the acorns. This was a piece of Kraft card, onto which I stamped a wood grain pattern – ideal for the acorns.

I die cut the Concord & 9th ‘Autumn Inlay’ die from each of the panels to get the colours of the leaves I wanted, and die cut again from Spellbinders brushed gold card stock to get the leaf veins, and the caps of the acorns.

Now for the paper-piecing……fiddly, but worth it. I took a white piece of card and added a double sided sheet to it, die cut the panel yet again from white and stuck that down. All the elements were inlaid and pieced where I thought the colours would work best.

The final touch were some Pinkfresh Studio jewels which have a gold and silver glitter to them and dotted them around.

A Warm and Merry Christmas

Hello once again. I have a mixed media card to share today using products from Pinkfresh Studio:

I started by stamping the image then ink blending using the layering stencils. The stamp set is a red rubber, and the centre is a sentiment which I took out – I just used the frame.

As I wanted my poinsettias to be a blue colour – varying tones, and manged this using Pinkfresh Studio inks. As they come in four tones this was quite easy once I had decided on the colour.

Once the image was blended, I used the matching die to cut the frame out.

I decided on using a Spellbinders ‘Sage‘ card stock for the background, and used a Spellbinders embossing folder. the panel was cut down to an A2 card size, and glued flat to the card base.

I then added the poinsettia frame with 3D foam pieces – some small cuts to make sure there were no saggy areas – then splattered with a gold and white shimmery acrylic paint. I did this before adding the sentiment as I didn’t want that being splattered.

The sentiment (I think it is also a Pinkfresh Studio sentiment from a previous virtual event) was added with a mixture of 3D foam pieces and wet glue to ensure it was the same height across the middle area and the frame.

The final detail was to add some gold gems here and there.

O is for Ocean Animals

Hello once again. I am hosting the new challenge at The Alphabet Challenge. Having reached the letter ‘O‘, I chose the theme of:

O is for Ocean animals

Here is my card:

I first created the background panel by taking a light blue panel of card stock, then a Brutus Monroe stencil and ink blending some purple stars and dots. I then splattered white and gold shimmery acrylic paint.

This panel was then put aside to dry whilst I die cut the whale and jellyfish from Spellbinders.

Placing the whale at the top of the panel, I then played with placement of the jellyfish. These are interactive/dancing jellyfish, so I made sure to place the tentacles in such a position that they didn’t get stuck on each other when moving.

I then placed a little 3D foam circle in the middle of the tentacle layer, and stuck down the top – the umbrella of the jellyfish.

The sentiment was die cut and added as you see.

I hope you can come and join us with your creations featuring ocean animals. xx

Cardz 4 Galz Colours

Hello once again. Cardz 4 Galz has started a new challenge. Sue J has chosen the theme, and she has chosen:

‘pick three colours – purple, orange, black, green – neutrals are allowed

Here is my card:

I started by die cutting the floral and foliage elements from Spellbinders die sets, choosing orange flowers, and three tones of purple for other flowers. The same green for the stems and the foliage.

I put them aside to dry emboss the background panel using a Spellbinders embossing folder – some added interest without creating too much detail.

The frame dies are from Pinkfresh Studio – there are very fine and fiddly to adhere – but I managed!

I then played around with the floral arrangement, and added the elements with a mixture of wet glue and 3D foam pieces.

The sentiment is white foiling on a black strip.

I added further interest with some 3D dots – a mixture of purple and dark green – or are they black…..? I can’t remember now, but both colours are included…..

I hope you can come and join us with your creations featuring three – or all four – of the chosen colours. You can see from the Design Team inspiration that many themes are possible. xx

Couch and Coffee

Hello everyone. I created a card following the colours from the Color Throwdown Challenge:

All the dies sets and the background papers are from a previous card kit by MFT – the colours inspired to create this little scene.

The furniture elements were die cut then layered together before I thought about how to lay out the scene. I decided to go with a landscape card base to allow less crowding of the elements.

The background papers were cut, allowing a bigger margin at the bottom to be able to stamp the sentiment, which is from another MFT stamp set.

Once stamped, the couch, chair, table, lamp, and the rug were added to create a cosy little scene.

Rainbow Christmas Trees

Hello once again. The ABC Christmas Challenge has started a new challenge. Carol is the host this time round, and as we have reached the letters ‘U’ and ‘V’, we want to see your Christmas creations following the themes of:

U is for Unusual Colours

and/or

V is for Velvet

Here is my card for ‘Unusual Christmas Colours’:

The background panel was cut down slightly and embossed using a Spellbinders embossing folder, and was adhered flat to the card base.

I then used an Avery Elle die for the Christmas trees, die cut out of a range of card stock from Concord & 9th, following a ROYGBIV rainbow.

The hardest part of this was trying to get all these trees in a straight line – the ‘T’ square ruler came in handy for this.

The sentiment is a previously foiled sentiment from Lawn Fawn, and die cut with the matching die.

I hope you can come and join us with your Christmas projects following one or both of our themes. xx

Just A Note

Hello. I have a card to share using some products from several recent virtual craft events:

I started by stencilling the word. The layering stencils are from Taylored Expressions, and there are four layers, with three words when it is finished. I chose to use ‘just a note’, and the other two sentiments are ‘hooray’ and ‘hey’. I will use those on future cards I am sure. I chose four Pinkfresh Studio inks – yellow, orange, a lighter and then a darker pink.

I used the matching dies to cut out the words, then also used another three layers of white card stock behind to create a thicker sentiment.

I chose a Kraft card base, and onto that I layered a couple of frames created using a Pinkfresh Studio dies set from their recent event, and die cut out of Concord & 9th ‘Briar Rose‘ card stock.

I fiddles and faffed with the layers, insetting a white panel then adding the smaller frame, and insetting a smaller Kraft panel.

Once all adhered, I added some Spellbinders gems for a finishing touch.

Our internet woes may have been solved – fingers crossed – and I can catch up on some recent virtual events and play with the new products. xx

Birthday Numbers

Hello once again. The Alphabet Challenge has started a new challenge. Having reached the letter ‘N’, Dawn has chosen the theme of ‘Numbers’. Here is my card:

I chose to put my numbers on the background and use the emboss resist technique.

Onto w white panel, I used the large numbers from an LDRS stamp set received as part of the Crop and Create 2023. I arranged them on the panel, stamped with my Misti, then heat embossed.

Using a range of colourful ink pads, I gave my blending brushes a workout – and my arm.

Once colour blended, I used some smaller stamps of cupcakes and a little sentiment, as well as a tiny star, and stamped into the spaces using the same colour which is behind them – a tone on tone effect if you will.

This panel was cut down and a black layer added using Gina K Master Layouts dies, then attached to a white card base.

The sentiment is also part of the products provided by LDRS for this event, die cut a couple of times, and layered, then added to the panel.

I used the off-cut/outline of the black piece I had die cut the letters from to ensure they were straight and even.

I hope you can come and join us with your creations following our theme of numbers. xx

Birthday Circles

Hello everyone. I’m still having some intermittent internet issues, but managed to put this post together whilst things were working. Cardz 4 Galz has stared a new challenge. Caz has chosen the theme of ‘Circles’. Here is my card:

For this card I used the ‘Dotty Turnabout‘ from Concord & 9th, something I have had my stash for quite a while.

I used the turnabout jig to position the stamp and inked and turned all four times.

I then cut this panel down and layered it with a matching layer then added to a white card base.

The sentiment is from Spellbinders.

I hope you can come and join us with your creations featuring circles. xx

Lean On Me

What a week my friends, what a week. My main desktop computer stopped connecting to the Wifi, so we took it for a diagnosis, and the outcome was to buy a new desktop computer. Sounds simple, doesn’t it?

Well – then the new desktop wouldn’t connect to the internet, and all of my files weren’t downloaded – they forgot about my log-in and just did hubby’s……..!

It’s taken several days, but we – I mean hubby – seems to have fixed the problem. Now to get all of my files from the 15 years old previous computer – who knew we kept so much stuff….? That is a work in progress – but at least I have a desktop computer now, connected to the internet, and I can start to use it.

I have created this card for the current challenge at CAS on Sunday and the current challenge at AAA Cards:

This is a one layer card – the card base only. I have just attended the Crop and Create weekend virtual event – watching rather than crafting – and this was created using products from Brutus Monroe.

The first thing I did was to use an embedder from Clarity Crafts. I have had them for a while, but couldn’t seem to figure out how to use them without creating a bit of a mess. I then watched one of my DT buddies (Deborah Wheeler) show how to use them on a recent crafty hour on Create and Craft TV – and decided to have another go. I am pleased how this turned out.

The rounded rectangle frame was stuck to the rear of the front of the card base, then a bone folder used to ‘find’ the edge of the embedder on the front, then a small ball tool to further crisp the edges.

I then used the leaf rub-on and the sentiment received as part of the virtual event.

Hopefully our internet and computer stay stable and working. xx
