Silent Night, Holy Night

Hello again everyone. The Alphabet Challenge has reached the final challenge of the year. We have reached the letter ‘S‘, and Melissa has chosen the theme of:

‘Silent Night’

Here is my card:

These houses were ink blended using a Simon Says Stamp stencil set called ‘Snowy Village’. There are 5 little stencils to create this scene, and I used all of them.

Pinkfresh inks were used for the houses and trees, gold paste for the windows, and Tim Holtz glitter paste for the snowy background. I obviously had to wait to allow the pastes to dry between those last two layers – patience is not one of my virtues when it comes to card making – but I managed…..

I stamped the sentiment – from an MFT stamp set – then layered that with a black panel.

The little village was die cut using a stitched rectangle die and again layered with black, and the next layer down was cut then dry embossed using one of my favourite embossing folders from Stampin’ Up.

I hope you can come and join us – I am looking forward to seeing your creations in our gallery. xx

The last challenge for the year has started at Cardz 4 Galz. The challenge finishes on 22nd December, and we will be having a break until the new challenge on 9th January.

Billie A is hosting this time round, and she has chosen the theme of ‘Christmas‘. Here is my card:

I cut a square of the Pinkfresh Studio gold glitter card stock the same size as the square card base. Before adhering, I die cut the square scalloped frame using a Pinkfresh Studio die set out of the centre – it would be hidden behind the white panel.

The white square was cut, then dry embossed using a Spellbinders embossing folder. This white was layered onto the gold, then the gold frame adhered on top.

The baubles and foliage are washi tape from Pinkfresh Studio and arranged as you see, then the gold foiled sentiment from Lawn Fawn added.

I hope you can come and join us with your projects following our theme. xx

Season’s Greetings

Hello once again. ABC Christmas Challenge has reached the end of the alphabet for this year, and Marie is hosting. We have two themes for you to create your Christmas/festive creations with:

Y is for Your favourite colours

and

Z is for Zoo Animals

Here is my card:

Obviously, I chose to go with my favourite colours. I love the traditional red and green for Christmas, and having this purple back panel really made them pop.

This die set is from Concord & 9th, and it has been a really popular set – I can see why. I was lucky enough to get it the first time round, but it didn’t take me long to play with it.

I die cut the base layer from the dark purple card stock. On that layer are the dotted outline for suggestions of where to place your other elements – I kinda went a little rogue, as you can see, but the dotted areas you can see on the base add something I think.

This purple layer was added to a white card base, one I die cut with that base die to create the shaped card.

All the floral elements and the foliage were die cut, many more times than was actually needed, and I went to town with the placements. I only used the poinsettias and not the other flower that came with the set, and added them first – two larger flowers and two smaller flowers.

The foliage and leaves were die cut using several tones of green, and the mistletoe berries I kept white.

A little gold die cut for the centres of the poinsettias, and of course I added gold gems here and there:

The sentiment was heat embossed onto a purple strip, die cut with the banner die, and the two little tag ends added.

This was added strategically across the centre of the card – so much dimension under there I used 3D foam and glue to get it to stick.

I hope you can come and join us with your Christmas creations following one of our themes. xx

Stencilled Bauble

Hello once again. The Alphabet Challenge has reached the letter ‘R’, and Veronika has chosen the theme of:

R is for Round

Here is my card:

I used the Bibi Cameron ‘Snowflakes Ornament’ stencil set from Spellbinders.

The stencils were used direct onto the card base, and Pinkfresh Studio inks. There are several layers to each stencil, for different parts of the bauble. There are actually two bauble sizes, and I chose to do the largest.

Once the bauble was stencilled, I then used the mask over it and splattered with silver sparkle acrylic paint, and then again with one of the blue inks used for the stencilling.

The sentiment is foiled using a Lawn Fawn hot foil set, then die cut with the matching die and attached with wet glue. I then added some clear gems for a little more interest.

I hope you can come and join us following our theme. I shall be entering the following challenges:

My Favourite Colours

Hello again. Cardz 4 Galz has started a new challenge. Johanna has chosen the theme of:

Your Favourite Colour Combination

Here is my card:

As you know, I like to make cards with florals, and the best way to showcase my favourite colours was by using the Concord & 9th ‘Party Hats Inlay’ die. These colours are what I tend to use when I make floral cards using die cuts.

I have made a couple of cards previously using the inlay dies and this was just as fun – fiddly, but fun.

I used the die on all of the colours you can see – pink, dark green, light green, yellow, purple, lilac, and I did use some ‘Press’N’Seal’ to try and keep the pieces under control.

To be able to inlay the pieces a little quicker, I used a white A2 card base, and added double sided sticky sheet to it, placed the background die cut panel on there, then started inlaying.

The sentiment is from a package of Pinkfresh Studio pre-foiled sentiments.

This green one is my favourite of all I created – but here are the rest:

I hope you can come and join us by creating a project using your favourite colour combination. xx

Wishing You A beautiful Day

Hello everyone. The Alphabet Challenge has reached the letter ‘Q‘ and the theme this time round is:

‘Quick and Easy’

Here is my card:

I rarely do what I consider this to be – a Clean and Simple card. I tend to always like layers and dimension, but I do think this is enough. It doesn’t need anything more.

I glued a black A2 sized panel onto a card base. then cut a slightly smaller piece of white card.

Onto this I placed the Gina K Designs ‘Masked Oval Stencil‘ – the outer part, leaving the oval free. I then ink blended a green and a blue – Pinkfresh Studio inks – nice and gently, and softly (I am a heavy handed blender!), and not quite getting them to meet in the middle – or very little meeting anyway.

Once that was dry, I stamped the Gina K designs image, and then the sentiment.

This was then glued down onto the black panel.

I hope you can come and join us with you ‘quick and easy’ makes. xx

Thanks So Much

Hello once again. Cardz 4 Galz has started a new challenge. Dawn has chosen the theme of:

Add Texture

Here is my card:

I used a couple of die sets from Spellbinders to create the floral elements. One way to add texture is to layer things up – there are lots of layers on these floral and leaf images.

The second way I added texture was by using an embossing folder.

The background panel was created using a deep purple card stock, then I took a piece of white cut down slightly, then another piece of the purple and ran them through my die-cutting machine at the same time – one piece of top of the other. That way, both pieces are embossed, and the pattern runs continuously across both pieces.

These were adhered down, the the floral elements added, extra little flowers and leaves placed where I thought they were needed.

For more texture, I added Pinkfresh gems to the centre of some of the flowers.

The foiled sentiment was added at the end.

I hope you can come and join us with your creations highlighting and featured texture. xx

Water Colour Poinsettias

Hello. ABC Christmas Challenge has reached the letters ‘W’ and ‘X’. We want to see your Christmas creations with the following themes:

W is for Water colouring, X is for Xylophone

Here is my card for the water colouring theme:

The poinsettia image is from Pinkfresh Studio – the Poinsettia Frame collection – and I chose to heat emboss the image. There are matching items for this set – a hot foil plate, a stencil set for colouring, as well as the matching die.

Once the image was gold heat embossed, I broke out my Zig markers and water coloured them. I don’t do much water colouring, I don’t actually enjoy the process, but I actually have fun with this image and the Zigs – I forget how they are really good to colour with.

Once the image was coloured, I let it dry, then used the matching die to cut out the frame.

I chose a deep purple card panel, and dry embossed with a Spellbinders embossing folder, then placed the frame on that with 3D foam.

The foiled sentiment was added to the centre, and then I played with glossy accents – using that on each berry, and the centre of the flowers.

I thought the centre needed more, so I also added some Pinkfresh Studio gold gems.

I hope you can come and join us with your Christmas creations following one or both of our themes. xx

P is for Party

Hello once again. The Alphabet Challenge has started a new challenge. We have reached the letter ‘P‘ and Melanie has chosen the theme of ‘Party’. Here is my card:

I decided to release my Copics for this card – they have been neglected recently….

The Images are all from Mama Elephant – ‘Flying With Friends’ and ‘Yay A Party‘, and ‘Celebration Hamsters‘. I stamped the images with Gina K Amalgam, then set to colouring them all. The colouring didn’t really take me too long, it is the colour choices which take me longer to plan out, but I kept with the pink, blue, and green theme – obviously with greys and browns for the critters.

I also added some rosy cheeks, and white gel pen.

Once the colouring was completed, I turned my mind to the actual scene. I used the Mama Elephant ‘Slim Woodland‘ die and cut out of white card stock. I then used Distress inks in green and brown to colour the trees and the grass, masking off as required.

I wanted a blue sky behind the party, so took a white piece of card and ink blended a couple of blue Distress Inks – a light one first, then the darker one nearer the top.

A white picket fence – another Mama Elephant die set – and now to lay out the images……

The tree and grass layer was added the blue sky piece of card, with the white fence slotted in behind the grassy hills.

The animals were added one by one, some overlapping, with either glue of 3D foam.

The sentiment was stamped and cut, added to the top right corner.

I hope you can come and join us with your ‘party’ themed projects. xx

Patterned Papers

Hello again. Cardz 4 Galz has started a new challenge. Debbie has chosen the theme of ‘patterned papers‘. Here is my card:

I don’t use many patterned papers, though I do have plenty of them….and for this card I used a collection from Polkadoodles.

I decided to use a 5×7 inch card base to accommodate the large sentiment with some additional flowers.

My first task was to take a 5×7 inch panel, and adhere some double sided sticky sheet. I then cut some strips of the patterned papers and arranged them in a jaunty angle.

Once they were all stuck down, I used a Spellbinders embossing folder and ran the patterned paper panel through that – even more texture and interest on the papers.

This panel was then glued down to the card base.

The sentiment is from Lawn Fawn, die cut with patterned paper, layered with a couple more white card layers and glued to the front.

I also used some Spellbinders dies and cut out the flowers and foliage, adding as you see, and also added some pink pearl gems around and about, as well as some glittery gems for the centre of the flowers.

I hope you can come and join us with your creations following our theme of ‘patterned papers’. xx
